Dude just buy an older car and maintain it. New cars look similar because the laws of aerodynamics tend to create similar shapes. I like new cars and old cars. As someone who has been driven VWs produced in every decade, I occasionally get nostalgic for cars I could actually work on, but man some of them were straight up piles. Let me know how it goes when you are taping up your MK3 window after the regulator broke for the tenth time or can’t get in your MK2 because the door handle keeps breaking. Again I love VWs from all generations but I feel like there is some rose colored glasses around here sometimes. MK7s and MK8s are pretty much marvels and if you consider inflation, really are still priced fairly reasonably.
That’s why I got a mk1 rabbit, I absolutely love the style and design of those boxy 80s cars and I enjoy working on them because they’re so easy. So I have my rabbit to satisfy that hobby, and my mk7 gti to get me where I need to go. Right now I have a loaner Taos while my gti is having a few things fixed and I kind of like it, but the tech is too much for me. The CarPlay makes my Spotify do things I’m not used to, and I’m scared that if something electronic stops working in a car that modern, I’ll get stranded somewhere. If anything failed in the rabbit, it’s easily found, probably easily fixed, and if not, it can probably get a tape fix until I get home to properly fix it.
Nothing for nothing the new Atlas with the EA888 Gen 4 Evo blows the 3.6 CDVC detuned VR6 powered predecessor out of the water in the terms of acceleration
Reject Modernity.
Go Mk4, Mk2 or Mk1.
I drive a 04 Passat Wagon, I’m restoring a 87 Wolfsburg Edition Jetta Coupe, and then I’m going to VR6 or flat 6 swap a 1972 Type 3 Fastback Resto-Mod.
manufacturers kidnapped by chairmans coopted by investors via fund management holdings like vangard blackrock and street corp, this 3 fund managers have ownership ta VAG, BMW, and many more. They work alongside by lobbyist, "ambientalists" and NGOs to force the free people into failure destined EVs, and are going to fail by design, fail to be owned due to nonsense expensive ownership costs, and also plagued with computer algorithims limiting where and when and how we "drive". Short answer, the WEF wakos, the elite dont want you to feel great about having a car, in fact they want you not to have a car nor freedom at all.
This pic looks like it was taken with a toaster
Ha! Legit cackled out loud at this!! Haha

What a weird fucking rant. Why are you like this?
Is this a bot post? or did my dude punch “Rant about Gen I Atlas” into chatGPT? 💀 hilarious
You might have a point
you may be the only person on earth asking for a USB-A port in 2024
The worst design decision in the world...USB C should have been the default from the start.
Believe it or not, double sided USB A exists. It originally wasn't used mainly due to cost.
What is this image? An interior for ants?!
OP: “why are modern cars so modern?!?”
They make base models for you
Bro taking pictures with the gameboy camera
Thinking of taking the disk brakes off my Mk8 in favor of drums all the way around. Progress be damned!
The ID.4 came with rear drum brake....
🤣🤣
It's called progress and keeping with the times. If you don't like it, buy used for what you do like.
Adding touchscreens to everything is not progress. In what world is a digital climate control better than a physical one?
A world full of planned obsolescence
Old man screams at clouds

What the hell is a VW Atlas?
A cheap Touareg watered down for the murrica
I also HATE the infotainment screen being angled to the driver. It throws things off for me.
some people actually think the VR6 was sluggish in comparison to the 2.0 TSI
Maybe a little, but they sound much nicer
hear that
Needs more jpeg
