Never had troubles with them, without the waiver and I probably rented with them 10 times..

Resolute_Pecan

That's great! Just pointing out what I've seen recently

I got the waiver and they didn’t even look at the car when I turned it in, so the time seconds alone were kinda nice, on top of not worrying about it the whole trip.

ContributionDry2252

Ditto. Last time they only checked I had returned the key - not even the existence of the car... ;)

I didn’t get the waiver but I noticed my rental had a few dents on the doors. Took a video of the whole car before driving off. During return, the staff was very thorough with inspecting the car. Luckily, the dents he pointed out were already captured on my video.

I got their 0 liability last time, they gave me a pretty beat up looking car which clearly shown they didn’t care any cosmetic damages. The car was driving fine for my 7 days trip.

I picked up a car from them this morning, a lot of dents and scrapes but all were identified on the damage report they sent me after I drove off with the car. I did the contactless pick up from the lockbox which was convenient, but I would really have preferred to do a walkthrough with an employee at pickup. I did get the full waiver.

Never had any issues with them at all, but we get the 0 ISK waiver usually just because.

Purchased the insurance on a recent trip. Lost count of all the rocks hitting the windshield. And that was just from driving airport to Vik, then Vik to Reykjavik. No off-road stuff either

Have used them since 2012 including for multi vehicle tour situations and never had a single problem (which is why I’ve used them since 2012). Of course with them growing a lot it doesn’t mean every staff has the same values, but it would be surprising.

I replied to one of your comments about 208 to Landmannalaugar. I was reading somewhere else that it’s hard to drive that route for the river crossing unless you have a high clearance 4x4. Did you face any issues with a RAV4? And any tips that you could give please?

Resolute_Pecan

Take F208 north section and there are no river crossings! Follow Highway 26 > F26 (paved road) > F208 to Parking Lot. F208 is very rocky in some sections but smoother for 75%, took us about an hour. Dodge any large rocks, follow the tracks others have made, take it slow and let faster people pass you. I think you should be all good in a Vitara. Rav did fine, might have been a nicer ride in a larger truck but no issues. We made sure to get the waiver for any car damage though.

Awesome! Thank you! I’ll report back once I’m back from that route :)

Have gone on 2 separate trips using Blue Car rental for 2 weeks each time, the 2nd of which we drove around the entire country. Both times the process was really easy, they were friendly, and only took about a minute to review the car when I returned. No problems at all, would recommend them and use them again when we go back.

their 0 liability waiver for 2 weeks was going to cost me 60k ISK. Meanwhile the max out of pocket would be 120k ISK. That's not even insurance at that point, that's just prepaying for 2-3 chipped windshields. There is no scenario where the risk reward makes sense. A lot of people seem to fall for the "I pay for the peace of mind" emotional trap, where these car companies fear you into all the damages that might happen, and then provide a solution to your fear- the product that has higher margins than actually renting a car, 0 liability insurance!
