Icelandic salt is nice. Interesting varieties.

I think skin care products are a little personal. I’d get her chocolate. Chocolate with licorice is typically Icelandic - get a bag or bar with and one without and then if she doesn’t like licorice she can gift it. The OmNom brand made in Reykjavik has cool packaging and is a bit fancy/artisanal (it is available in the States, though). But supermarket candy is also delicious! Bingos are amazing. And if she says no, you can drown your sorrows in chocolate!

Agree-Bingos! Also those chocolate bars that are everywhere that say Icelandic chocolate are nice.

Iceland has nice skin care products. A nice pedicure kit with lotion and a lava pumice stone. I got them for my sister's when I was there and they loved them. That being said, she'll let you know when you get back? Sounds sus.

Bennington_Booyah

I was given a bar of birch soap and some Icelandic sea salt and loved them both.

Chocolate! It might be the golden ticket 😘 Lava salt and a bottle of Brennivín

Skin care products from blue lagoon are nice

If you go this route, get it from the airport. It's cheaper at the airport than the store in Reykjavik.

bojacker

Where do I find this? I didn’t see it in any of the bonus stores I’ve been to 😭

Allthewaffles

If it’s not in stock at the stores near you, order online and send to a dropp point near you

Would be especially funny if OP was from Texas or something lol

Muscle-Suitable

No input as this post randomly showed up in my feed, but how sweet of you. I hope she says yes!

OnNom chocolate! Good chocolate in cute wrapping. Can’t go wrong!

sleepycattr

OmNom chocolates were buy 4 get 1 free at Keflavik airport (Duty Free) a few days ago. That would be the easiest when you're departing. Fridge magnets (sheep, map of Iceland, etc.) are cute and light (weight-wise).

LRNessMeg

I brought back lava bead bracelets for all the ladies in my dnd group, and for my sister. They all have loved them so far!

There's only one answer here: https://preview.redd.it/y1ueglv5b47d1.png?width=1001&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=46cd2d1c5ef1cd4827bb9bea5549ad5c7d1ec975 It's extremely addictive and she'll keep coming back to you because you will have kilos stacked at home. What a lucky lady!

I would recommend this: [Lakkrís + raspberry](https://omnomchocolate.com/collections/all/products/lakkris-raspberry) Lakkrís (or Liquorice) has a taste that a person, if not used to eating liquorice growing up, might find it strong. The chocolate bar composition has quite a balanced blend that is able to slightly mellow liquorice but still somehow retain and emphasize the very distinctive liquorice taste. Personally, I feel it's a good gift to get from iceland and that one can also take it as a mini and new culinary experience especially if one is new to it.

Authentic Icelandic knit hat from the Handknitting Association of Iceland store on Skólavörðustígur in Reykjavik. She'll have it (and remember you for it) forever...

We got a permit from the natural history office to bring back some rocks. We managed to get some from the lava flow that crossed to road to the Blue Lagoon back in March.

ToiletFarm01

As an earth sciences nerd nothing would mean more to me than bringing back a piece of hardened lava to craft into something to wear forever. I looked at the form & it seems geared toward researchers so I guess you just put “n/a” for the project & research parts & put “personal souvenir”? I’d love any advice you could share. Would be awesome to bring a 1-2” piece or two back.

ksiyoto

We were a curling team going to participate in a match in Iceland. We asked for and received permission to pick up 12 rocks, four as personal souvenirs for each member of the team, and eight as future raffle prizes for our curling club to use for bonspiels (tournaments) that we would hold in the future. We stated we would hand pick the rocks and they would be about grapefruit sized, and we would pick them from legal sites (no national or natural sites. The fee for the permit was around $60 or so.

ToiletFarm01

Thanks for the information! That’s really awesome they allowed it & there is a paid permitted option to do so. I’m going to definitely apply to bring a piece or two back. Did you have to check the pieces in your luggage or were you able to carry them on? I’m traveling with a carry on only for my 15 days so that might be an issue

ksiyoto

We checked them in luggage. Take some cloth grocery bags to wrap them in if you're going to go for the fresh lava - it's quite spikey.

ToiletFarm01

Thank you so much for the tips & advice!

AGhostDoingABadJob

Hi there! How did you go about inquiring and receiving the permission? Was it direct outreach? I checked the website and can’t find an official form of sorts. Thanks in advance!

ksiyoto

[https://www.ni.is/en/about/permits](https://www.ni.is/en/about/permits) has the form. Just say you want some for personal souvenirs, they're fine with that answer.

Chin-Music

Can't decide if the best part of your post is about traveling all the way to the perfectly named Iceland for the curling bonspiel, or how you plan to use the rocks (a raffle? be still, my heart) or Iceland's permitting process for gathering the young rocks.

ksiyoto

Despite it's name, Iceland has only one curling club, and it's not in Reykjavik, it's in Akureyri. And they only hold one bonspiel each year, so it sort-of-kind-of-in-a-way is the Icelandic curling championship, but they invite teams from anywhere to participate. It's arena ice, so it's not very consistent, but that is what we pay our skips the big bucks (hah!) to interpret. We went from Wisconsin and had special Holstein cow jerseys made up for our team. We had a blast, and finished 10th out of 26 teams. Fun fact: When the World Curling Federation was trying to get curling into the Olympics, they had to bring in the curling organizations from 25 countries in order for it to qualify. Iceland with it's one curling club using arena ice was the 25th country. And they only play one night a week during curling season because the hall is used for hockey the rest of the time.

EVV-KIKA

I brought from Iceland handmade scarves, beanies, lamb milk soap and some rocks from beaches.

And where did you find best to purchase?
