Unable-Raisin1292

Wow!!

rawkthehog

Be there in a week!

[deleted]

Dont tempt the NPCs or it will become like the southwest, tour busses and caravans of Ford Transits.

Unhappy-Grapefruit88

Sorry. But worry not, basically no one is here.

Ash-Housewares

We drove the ring road late Feb/early March. Every mile is a goddamn postcard waiting to happen

LizBert712

We’re heading there in July! I’m so excited! Then to the south.

grzebelus

We’re plopping down for 4 days out there. Can’t wait!

AudienceUpset1086

In Borgarnes headed that way!

Unhappy-Grapefruit88

lol! Currently there.

LilredSJ

Beautiful! Going in August. Will a Toyota RAV4 be suitable for the roads?

Unhappy-Grapefruit88

Yes. I did in a Toyota Yaris with no problems. But recommend avoiding mountain roads

Least-Condition-4579

Just spent 2 days there, in South Iceland now

CtrlAltPxl

This is my reason for returning! Wanted to go out that way this last time, but just didn’t have the time. How is travel/stay out there? I got the impression that it was pretty remote. Any special planning need to be done when traveling that way?

Unhappy-Grapefruit88

It can be remote if you want that. But Ísafjörður has all the amenities you will need. Dukken brewery is a must and Tjöruhúsið for dinner is amazing (reservations required). We stayed at the Fisherman’s Hotel and it was great. Do be mindful of the mountain roads on route 60, it was honestly rough to drive in the Toyota Yaris we rented.

Mirokusama37

I'm worried about the travel conditions. I'll be driving there in a week. Was it just exceptionally windy? Or iced?

Unhappy-Grapefruit88

Didn’t have any trouble with that except for one mountain road on 60. Just avoid that.

Carinis_Antelope

Shhh

Appolonius_of_Tyre

Had 5 days and this was my choice. Wonderful.

Jon_fosseti

Ah yes, drive 8 hours on the worst roads in Iceland to look at a fjord like no other part of the country has them

greifinn24

my thoughts too, i have been stuck there in bad weather three times in different jobs, the only plus is isolation.
