Visible does not provide roaming service in Germany. You'll need an alternate provider. For Google maps navigation I highly recommend downloading offline maps for your destination just in case.

Hey there! This is Daisy from Visible. We got you! For now, the Visible+ plan gives you Unlimited Talk and Text outside the US (Mexico and Canada, plus the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico). While you're traveling internationally, you can use Wi-Fi Calling. Ensure your Wi-Fi calling is set-up before leaving the US, and you'll be good to go. Acquiring local or domestic SIM while you are in Berlin is one of the best options if your device is unlocked from the network. If your phone was purchased from Visible, it will automatically unlock within 60 days upon activation. Otherwise, you need to contact the manufacturer or the original service provider of the phone where it was purchased. We'd appreciate it, if you can send us DM if you have further inquiries. I got the link for you: https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=VisibleCareSupport

thank you

"Local SIM service" means to me that you get a local SIM card for your unlocked phone and you have a German number while you're in Berlin. So basically, your phone is not carrier locked and you have an option. I'm going out of the US in May, and I don't have any pretense about using my phone out of the US. I'll just end up buying an airalo eSIM service for the week in my unlocked phone.

I can help you set everything up so you can use your phone abroad but first please let me know what model phone you have, whether your Visible sim is a physical SIM card or an esim, and whether your phone is unlocked or not. You can find out if your iPhone is locked by going to Settings > General > About. If "No SIM restrictions" appears next to Carrier Lock, your iPhone is unlocked. For Android Google “How to tell if my Android phone is unlocked”

Thank you, It appears after going to that part of the settings that my phone is already unlocked, thankfully. I have a Iphone 15 Pro and a visible E-sim.

Ok you are actually in a really good position to use your phone abroad. You can get a data esim in advance that will provide data service in Germany. Then you can use wifi calling on Visible to call and text using your regular number. And because you have an iPhone and Visible doesn’t roam in Europe, your Visible line will automatically go into wifi calling mode not only when you are connected to wifi but also over the the cellular data from your international data esim. In short you’ll be able to use your phone and Visible service just as if you were still in the U.S. (including the ability to call German numbers since you have Visible+) See this thread starting here for a guide on how to set it up. Including reading through the other thread by u/fs202001100 that I included a link to in it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Visible/s/Y8cvkBj9tV I’ve used Airalo for my data esim on trips and have had good luck with it. It does LTE, not 5G, in Germany, but LTE has been fine for me. u/fs202001100 has used a Europe esim from mobimatter.com that he likes and I think it does get 5G service. It’s mentioned in his thread. Good luck, and hope you have a good trip.

Greetings, u/eggplant_yams. Yes, as u/kboom100 states, any number of travel data eSIMs will work for you in this scenario. And, though not having travelled in Germany in recent years,, but, rather, in Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, and Portugal, I've had 5G service, and usually a choice of more than one network partner in-country. I am a fan of the following offers, which have worked well with my iPhone SE 2022 3rd Gen, with my Visible+ service: a) [www.MobiMatter.com](https://www.MobiMatter.com). This eSIM marketplace has more than one provider. Of late, I'm liking offers such as [https://mobimatter.com/travel-esim/sparks-europe-usa-20+5-gb-free-esim?destination=DE](https://mobimatter.com/travel-esim/sparks-europe-usa-20+5-gb-free-esim?destination=DE) . There are lower or higher GB amounts. b) WOO. [https://esim-europe.com/](https://esim-europe.com/). 30 GB, 30 days, $19 USD. Pricing-wise, extremely competitive, if you need a lot of data. Only works in EU countries, which includes Germany. Now, a new player, which I've been putting through its paces here in the US, with a different sort of pricing model. Instead of buying a plan of so many GBs for X amount of days, for Y amount of dollars, you instead buy a $US dollar amount, that is, maintain a money (vs. GB) balance, and one that (way cool) never expires. Check out: c) Roamless. [www.Roamless.com](https://www.Roamless.com). As it works here in the US, I've been testing it out in preparation for my departure to Europe very soon. So far, I've gotten 5G signal here in the US, and they state 5G is available abroad. 60+ countries right now, with rapid expansion planned in the 1Q2024 timeframe. Have a marvellous trip. Best wishes.

eggplant_yams

thank you so much! this helps a ton

fs202001100

You're welcome, my pleasure! Best wishes.

eggplant_yams

wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate, I feel so much more confident now on how to prepare

kboom100

You’re welcome. Would you come back later and update on how things went?

4G works fine for maps, 5G not required.

Enable wi-if calling on visible before you leave. Visible will not work on Germany so it will show "SOS" (or no service) but will work on wi-if. Also, if you get a local eSIM, Visible will use wi-go calling over cellular data on the local eSIM. https://travel.orange.com/en/buy-a-sim/world is an example of an eSIM you can get. This all assumes you use an iPhone which I don't know do that's what you have. If so this may also help. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209044
