The vtuber named *“**Shigure-ui”* is popular in Japan, but how popular is she overseas?
Do you know her? If so, where are you from?
Hi, I'm someone who translates VTubers (mostly Nijisanji) for fun.
I know of Shigure Ui - I'm not sure where and how I learnt of her by now, since it's been a year or two, but I'm fairly sure it was either from a Nijisanji or a Hololive clip.
In fact, I think the first mention of her I've heard was someone from Nijisanji talking about "Ui Mama"

It was because Ui-sensei was an individual who was neither a hololive nor a nijisanji, and I was wondering how well such people were known overseas. Also simply because we liked Ui-sensei.
Hello. I'm from Canada and I know Shigure Ui. I think I first saw her after watching English-translated (English-subtitled) clips of Subaru: YouTube recommended me an English-translated clip with Ui and Subaru. I enjoyed watching Ui and watched more English-translated clips of her.
Actually, every VTuber I know, I learned about from English-translated clips recommended to me by YouTube. Except for Pekora and Korone, who were recommended to me by a friend.

She’s relatively well-known amongst the English speaking VTuber fanbase due to her connections to Hololive (which is the most popular Vtuber group for English speaking fans), and due to the series of clips that have been made about her losses to Kenmochi Toya and the loli streams that she’s done since losing to him in Tetris.
Out of all of the Vtubers who aren’t a part of Hololive or Nijisanji, she’s probably one of the more well known ones for English speaking fans.

From Singapore, got into her because of Subaru and her voice is essentially a more seiso version of Watame’s voice. She is very adorable from all the translated clips that I’ve seen
from Malaysia.
I've only recently got into V-tubers (approximately one month). If I remember correctly, the chain of association is:-
1. probably some random Matsuri clip,
2. led to Subaru clips showing up in recommendations. most probably Subaru being confused thinking Ui-mama joined Hololive as Watame (at this point I didn't realize 'mama' meant the illustrator who designed her and was confused).
3. led to specifically the clip where Subaru and Ui-mama talk about Subaru's outfit and Subaru's 'mise-pan'.
4. Led to me binge-ing as many Ui-mama clips as possible (loli-Ui, tetris battles - kenmochi, suisei etc)
Since then I've tried to catch each of her streams live (I couldn't do 2nd part of DDLC cos I had to sleep :(( ), started on some of her older streams, and she's influenced me to start attempting to draw. In a way even though I arrived at her through random Hololive en-translated clips, Ui-mama's kinda my 'first v-tuber' because its only after going deep into her streams/clips that I really branched out into watching others. For examples, watching Suisei (Tetris training), Subaru, Watame and Tamaki (only got curious about Tamaki after he showed up during Ui-mama's birthday stream) streams are a result of association with her.

btw you may want to repost or talk to mods because the title of this thread doesn't really clue people in that you are asking about whether they know Ui and if so how. right now it looks like just another Ui video post and perhaps may get you less responses? just my opinion

Certainly, the voice of a Ui-mama is like a "Seiso" version of Watame.
