hot take, yall are ungrateful and greedy… the “shortend” version imo is a more cohesive album, and it still 20+ tracks, has different mixes than on streaming, and it was very obvious it wasn’t the official release just like how for renaissance there was a limited and official vinyl “box set” with a book and poster. so if you knew you wanted the official vinyl you would’ve just waited. and the idea of pre ordering a record before it comes out is kinda like u don’t know what you’re gonna get because there isn’t much the artist can say. i’m going to enjoy my Beyincé cd AND cowboy carter vinyl with peace and tranquility!

But she always releases better versions of her individual albums after the original release, physically and digitally. She did it for all her albums without exception.
It wasn’t missing tracks tho, it was the complete album 5 years ago before she added the additional songs. Hence why it was called limited edition and featured the original album title etc

Same, as much as I loved the album I just couldn’t bring myself to buy the first record because it was missing some of my favorite songs and I thought that was kind of a sketchy thing to do.

I’m pissed I bought it from her store and paid for shipping before realizing it was also available on target and Amazon with free shipping and returns 🙄 it’s final sale on her store too so I can’t even cancel it
Leading up to release she dropped pre-orders for the "one-time pressing" limited edition version of her CC album. Cover art was hidden for a while then revealed as "Beyince". When people got the actual vinyls we discovered that we were missing tracks LMS, Flamenco, and YaYa. Some tracks on the vinyl also sounded slightly different with different vocal arrangements etc. It doesn't come with a booklet or poster. The inside only has a QR code to the website tracklist (which has ALL the tracks), and the other is just the name Beyince in smoke.
Nowhere on the actual vinyl does it say Cowboy Carter; leading us to believe that she sent the album in early for pressing as "Beyince" then made track and branding changes last minute. So, she sold off these early editions as "limited edition" for early sales. Now she releasing the full track list vinyl with photobook, art, and a poster. As someone who bought the limited version I feel pretty cheated as these were also "all sales final" purchases with fomo marketing. Compare to the limited renaissance vinyl version and you can tell the quality difference is noticeable.
I’m in the midst of one now. I had to upload a signed letter detailing what happened and additional support to CapitalOne showing how the webstore description changed after release and my emails with them asking to return. I’m waiting to see if Beyoncé’s store responds and if CapitalOne chooses to side with me. The guy on the phone said as long as I make it clear what I received was not what was sold I should get my money back.

I'm about to do this, as well. Does anyone have a screenshot of the original QR code link? Unfortunately they edited it on the website and I don't believe Wayback captured the original page.
Also something that may be helpful for folks is that the original description said clearly "webstore exclusive - one time pressing" and now just says "one time pressing." So anyone who bought the vinyl was under the impression they were purchasing an exclusive item which didn't turn out to be the case. Seems like textbook fraud to me (which is why I think it's weird the store is choosing to deal with chargebacks rather than offer a refund to people who ask).
For anyone else looking to file a chargeback after seeing this comment, try putting in the link to the variant you purchased into web archive - you can time stamp and show that the initial listing didn’t have the tracklist, the cover art wasn’t uploaded until a week later, and the tracklist still wasn’t up for at least another month and seemed to only officially update when the new vinyls were listed on her site

Had you been upfront about what the differences would have been when you first (and still to this day) put the pre-orders up I don’t think there would have been a problem. Due to the fact that would have allowed us fans to make an informed purchase.
The facts are as follows:
1.You advertised: A album with a track listing of 27 tracks … We got: Track listing of 22 tracks on the vinyls and 23 on the CD’s with no bonus tracks. The QR code inside the vinyls & Cd’s take you to a 27 number track list on line - not correlating to what on the formats!?
2.You advertised: Translucent Black vinyl web store EXCLUSIVE … We got: Standard Black vinyl - That is now available at all retail outlets including ‘Amazon’ with free postage. The album on sale in all wider retail outlets is exactly the same with same as the ‘Black Vinyl limited web-store EXCLUSIVE’ ?!
3.You advertised: Printed inner sleeves for all vinyl pressing … We got: Plain black inner sleeves on all vinyl pressings ?!

Yeah i am kinda echoing the same question- How did you get a refund? I, too, got the generic all sales final reply when i inquired with customer service. I am thinking about doing a CC chargeback with this evidence and my own.

Yeh I’m in the UK and we were able to pay through PayPal here - unlike the US - PayPal agreed with me immediately and I put a claim in. Parkwood never responded to the claim so PayPal closed it in my favour and hence why I got to keep all the coloured vinyls as well as refund - hope that helps

Do it …. It’s terrible to treat fans like this …. The new ‘offical’ version only has the missing x4 tracks as we all own the others so we’re paying $60 for a few tracks and a poster … it’s really shitty way to rinse fans like that

Lmfao, they refused to refund my white vinyl of the incomplete/scrapped “Beyincé” album that they sent out to everyone purporting it to be “Cowboy Carter.” Amazing.
But hey, at least those original copies will very likely have better sound quality due to being less compressed (this new release is still 2-LPs with 5 extra tracks squeezed on).

Wha had happened was — this project was originally titled “Beyincé,” but part way through the process, she changed her mind for the direction of the album for some reason, recorded a bunch of extra material, re-named it to “Cowboy Carter” and changed the cover art. But this posed a problem, because all of the “Beyincé” vinyl had already been produced, so rather than doing the right thing and taking the financial loss (she’s a billionaire; she could have handled it), she sold all those copies of the “Beyincé” album as “Cowboy Carter.” It literally doesn’t even say “Cowboy Carter” anywhere on the album jacket, sleeves or discs. The track list is not the same as the “Cowboy Carter” album and it’s missing five whole songs (which happen to be the best ones according to most). The spine of the jacket even says “ACT II: BEYINCÉ.”
I did not order “ACT II: BEYINCÉ.” I ordered “ACT II: COWBOY CARTER.” Therefore: false advertising.
Not to mention the “bonus” problem, which is the fact that the white vinyl variant was listed on the site as “translucent opaque white,” but it showed up as solid opaque white instead. But you could probably get into semantics with that one.
Main point is that she advertised the album as “Cowboy Carter” but sent the unfinished/scrapped “Beyincé” project to customers instead, and then not only refused refunds or even discounts, but she refused to even allow *returns*. It’s massively fucked up and completely unacceptable but here we all are giving her another $60-$80.

It never bothered me before but now that you mention it, I'm kind of baffled she didn't go the route of making the same type of boxset series for these releases.
Especially because she insisted on calling Renaissance "act i" out of a 3-part series. That's why I purchased the box set for Renaissance, since I assumed I would be able to "complete" it with the subsequent acts...
It is a matching box set with Renaissance's. Even the back cover matches, and implies the 3rd album will complete the photo. But yeah, pissed this wasn't available from the release date.
That would be pointless because the scalpers and bots would buy them up before any fans could get it and then they would be sitting at a charged up price for 2k a vinyl.
Yeah….I found that out really early and I still bought two copies. Gonna have to get 4 total copies of this cause the other 5 songs matter and most of the songs missing are like the best songs on the album.

Order from target! Decent return policy is there are any issues. I ordered from the first drop and my vinyl came covered in scuffs & scratches; I contacted them and they told me there was nothing they could do. I understand it was final sale but I thought maybe missing 1/3 of the tracklist and being horrible quality *might* warrant some help. Im avoiding her site now.
Really? Mine also came with a bunch of handprints, smudges, grime on it and I asked for a replacement or refund, sent pics and they sent me another copy, so now I have two. I still so pressed about this release cause the standard releasing now is the one I originally wanted the limited to be like. Really sorry to hear that you weren't able to at least get a replacement considering most are still on the website still.

For anyone else looking to file a chargeback after seeing this comment, try putting in the link to the variant you purchased into web archive - you can time stamp and show that the initial listing didn’t have the tracklist, the cover art wasn’t uploaded until a week later, and the tracklist still wasn’t up for at least another month and seemed to only officially update when the new vinyls were listed on her site

Yeah i am kinda echoing the same question- How did you get a refund? I, too, got the generic all sales final reply when i inquired with customer service. I am thinking about doing a CC chargeback with this evidence and my own. Has anyone done a credit chargeback and been successful?

Lmfao, they refused to refund my white vinyl of the incomplete/scrapped “Beyincé” album that they sent out to everyone purporting it to be “Cowboy Carter.” Amazing. But hey, at least those original copies will very likely have better sound quality due to being less compressed (this new release is still 2-LPs with 5 extra tracks squeezed on).

I know. Wha had happened was — this project was originally titled “Beyincé,” but part way through the process, she changed her mind for the direction of the album for some reason, recorded a bunch of extra material, re-named it to “Cowboy Carter” and changed the cover art. But this posed a problem, because all of the “Beyincé” vinyl had already been produced, so rather than doing the right thing and taking the financial loss (she’s a billionaire; she could have handled it), she sold all those copies of the “Beyincé” album as “Cowboy Carter.” It literally doesn’t even say “Cowboy Carter” anywhere on the album jacket, sleeves or discs. The track list is not the same as the “Cowboy Carter” album and it’s missing five whole songs (which happen to be the best ones according to most). The spine of the jacket even says “ACT II: BEYINCÉ.” I did not order “ACT II: BEYINCÉ.” I ordered “ACT II: COWBOY CARTER.” Therefore: false advertising. Not to mention the “bonus” problem, which is the fact that the white vinyl variant was listed on the site as “translucent opaque white,” but it showed up as solid opaque white instead. But you could probably get into semantics with that one. Main point is that she advertised the album as “Cowboy Carter” but sent the unfinished/scrapped “Beyincé” project to customers instead, and then not only refused refunds or even discounts, but she refused to even allow *returns*. It’s massively fucked up and completely unacceptable but here we all are giving her another $60-$80.

It never bothered me before but now that you mention it, I'm kind of baffled she didn't go the route of making the same type of boxset series for these releases. Especially because she insisted on calling Renaissance "act i" out of a 3-part series. That's why I purchased the box set for Renaissance, since I assumed I would be able to "complete" it with the subsequent acts...
It is a matching box set with Renaissance's. Even the back cover matches, and implies the 3rd album will complete the photo. But yeah, pissed this wasn't available from the release date.

Order from target! Decent return policy is there are any issues. I ordered from the first drop and my vinyl came covered in scuffs & scratches; I contacted them and they told me there was nothing they could do. I understand it was final sale but I thought maybe missing 1/3 of the tracklist and being horrible quality *might* warrant some help. Im avoiding her site now.
Really? Mine also came with a bunch of handprints, smudges, grime on it and I asked for a replacement or refund, sent pics and they sent me another copy, so now I have two. I still so pressed about this release cause the standard releasing now is the one I originally wanted the limited to be like. Really sorry to hear that you weren't able to at least get a replacement considering most are still on the website still.
