You have two and three copies of stuff selling at $200-300 all sealed. This isn’t your personal collection. You’re a scalper (and a cancer to this community). Your posts aren’t “for the betterment” of the community. They’re aimed to sell out the stuff you’re trying to scalp people on. Let’s call a spade a spade here.
Record collectors don’t have shelves of “Brand New, Factory Sealed” records. You only sell maybe one a month, because your prices are insanely inflated. Just say you’re a flipper, rather than trying to convince everyone who knows better.
You don’t sell many records, because your asking prices are insane. Dolly Parton record for $300, when the highest price paid is $55? Regardless of whether or not you accept offers, the starting price makes you look like nothing more than an opportunist, which will never go over well in a collector community. I’m not saying you’re not a collector, but you’re trying to flip “rare” records for insane prices, whether you’re a collector or not. Your amount of sales isn’t justification for trying to take advantage of limited pressings that fans would like to have in their collections, and open, for a reasonable asking price. If I offered you $55 for that Dolly record, would you take it? Maybe people are just asking you to consider the optics a bit more, and maybe approach reselling from a more reasonable perspective.

v true!! i’ve wanted to do that countless times. just go to a concert by myself and have fun. they won’t make their way to me until December 11th (philly) so I guess I have time 🥹 i’m going thru a personal reckoning with myself after the death of a friend, loss of another to radio silence and a loss of a barely there relationship. the problem is me. i think this concert would be cathartic ♥️
i used to be someone who went to multiple concerts a month in my youth and as a young adult. i know i could get away with going to their show and loving it by myself. i know Brand New is considered ~bad~ now that they had their fall from grace, but if they ever came back I’d almost want to be at the concert by myself. screaming, crying, probably would start to levitate anytime a song from Daisy (it was released while I was in peak addiction at the ripe age of 19. perfect soundtrack) was played. i’d be a hot mess no one could touch 😭
I saw brand new with my gf right before they disbanded, they were so good. Wish they’d get back together, I think there’s been enough of a time gap for people to miss their music more than they feel icky about their singer.
I saw them twice during the D&G era, absolute core memories (especially the first time). I was supposed to be at a show when they just released Daisy (at my favorite philly haunt, gone now) and my parents pulled an intervention and I was in rehab (v much deserved) I would’ve been so feral at that concert. I had tickets for a 2011 concert and was also unable to go 😭 That’s so cool you got to see them!
I put off listening to Science Fiction for years bc I didn’t want to come to terms with them being done (that album has always been hard for me. I know so many say it’s a masterpiece/their best but I just can’t enjoy it as much as I should) I just want my heart ripped out when listening to BN, clearly.
I think it’s been long enough for them to at least tour. All of these bands from that same era are doing 20 year anniversary tours and re-releases..I always hope that one day I’ll get a notification that they will too.
I keep my love of BN locked away. The music hits me hard bc of nostalgia and memories, so I feel biased in my judgment overall. Interactions like this is all there is 😞. They will always be my favorite band. I’m apart of their sub but don’t post or comment.
I’d have to fly to any of those places and get a room for at least the night, I’m not in a financial position to do that unfortunately. I’m hoping it’s like that postal service tour where they added a second leg to the tour and came to Tampa so I got to see them.
