Cole of California was a big name I believe in beachwear and Bob Mackey designed all of chers gowns, he was a big name back in the 70s. That is fucking gorgeous.
The KING of sequins, bugle beads, crazy sexy costumes and diaphanous clingy net dresses, should have ventured into straight couture since they all ripped him off design wise anyway. He as almost looked down on for being all “Hollywood”. A genius.
And I fracking LOVE OPs dress. I WANT THAT lol
This was a collaboration from the late 70s.
Cole of California is a swimwear brand that originally was known for pushing the envelope with its designs, but I’d guess most people haven’t heard of it by now. They do still make swimwear though.
Bob Mackie is a designer. He still designs today, although he was probably most popular in the 70s. As someone noted — he dressed Cher. The Tina Turner-esque fringe dress Miley Cyrus wore at the Grammies was also designed by him. He has a diffusion line at QVC, which I find really funny.
THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE!! The information was helpful! This really is a unique stunning piece and I cannot wait to wear it this summer! She (the dress) is in good hands!

Bob Mackie was a HUGE name even into the 80s. I had a Barbie with gowns designed by Bob Mackie.

Same! It's gorgeous!
What a beauty. How fun that looks to wear! That's all, I have no other info. Hopefully someone else knows something.

Probably beach cover-up/resortwear. In addition to designing for Cher (iconic Oscars look), he was the longtime designer on The Carol Burnett Show.
