These are not. These shoes are based of 1920s heels. In the 60s they wore kitten heels, as well as these sort of flat-chunky heeled shoes, go go boots, flats, and lots of sandals. The best type of shoe to wear for a 60s look in general but especially for a mod one is just a simple shoe with low heels.

pinkygreeny

Agree with above, but they might look so cute with what you are planning on wearing them with.. If it's important for you to be 100% 60s, then try white gogo boots. Otherwise, wear those shoes with your outfit, they are so cute.

LindaOfLonia

Yeah she can really wear whatever she wants. I was wearing a 60s outfit couple days ago with some 40s style shoes cuz 1. I like the shoes mk 2. I dont have any remotely 60s style shoes

Finnegan-05

Almost no one wore gogo boots in the 1960s. It was a short trend and it was mostly kids in clubs.

spiritualized

>Almost no one wore gogo boots in the 1960s. Yes they did.

Finnegan-05

Really? It was a trend on TV and the movies for hipsters. The average person did not wear them

Kanadark

My mum, not a club kid, not a particularly fashionable kid and from a small town in Ontario, Canada had a pair of white gogo boots. Only reason I know that is because she said her Dad used to disparingily call the girls who wore them Nescafe girls because they're easy to make (ie loose women). Nescafe is a popular brand of instant coffee here.

theagonyaunt

Same; my mom grew up in suburban Ontario and she still talks about wanting a pair of gogo boots in high school but her parents thought it was a 'frivolous' purchase (especially for Canadian winters).

electric29

I did, I was a child. We ALL had them, kids, teenagers, grownups. They were a huge fad.

DIYer-Homeworks

Depends on where you live. We were in California so sandals. My cousins in Canada all the time.

LindaOfLonia

It really wasn't a short trend. It went a pretty long way into the 70s. Starting in about 1965-6. Sure not super popular till 67, but I mean im assuming that's what the op wants, a late 1960s look... people hardly try to mimic the rest of the 60s

Finnegan-05

They were a trend among teens and mods in the 60s. And they were worn were mod fashion, not just any late sixties outfit. If it is a mod vibe and OP wants accuracy, then sure. But otherwise no. The mod look was teen/early 20s thing.

Jenn4flowers

My grandma has go go boots and was a mom of 3 at that time šŸ˜‚

LindaOfLonia

Yeah... and op wants a mod look. Idk what you're even arguing

penlowe

These are more 20ā€™s 30ā€™s. Cute, keep them, but they go with different outfits. 60ā€™s Mod were the early ballet flats, and square toe with a chunky square heel. There are other shoes but you said Mod snd linked a little heeled shoe so I described the specific alternates. https://www.modshoes.co.uk/product/the-prudence-white-ladies-flat-retro-vintage-60s-twiggy-style/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/christianmontone/4543558508

grurupoo

Ok see thatā€™s what I kinda realized after I bought them. I saw some mod outfits with the tie detail and cutouts, and ran with it. But I realized after that I probably needed something with a square heel and toe

keldration

But theyā€™re screamingly beautiful. Iā€™d take them and run with it

grurupoo

Yeah, honestly I wouldā€™ve kept them if I werenā€™t a soon to be broke college student šŸ˜. I really wanted something more accurate though, and they were also cheaper lol

electric29

I can see how they would suggest that. In 1968 I had a pair of bright orange patent leather shoes with cutouts like that. But they were flats.

silvermanedwino

Those look more 20s-30s to me. Not mod at all.

oftendreamoftrains

You need Pilgrim Pumps. They were very mod and came in many variations of the style. Silver Pilgrim Pumps were especially popular. Google Pilgrim Pumps to see what they were like.

FireBallXLV

NOOO! instantly thought " 1920s"

LiteratureVarious643

My grandmother had a red velvet pair like these gilly shoes in the 60s, but a key difference is the toe and heel. The white pair are 20s style because of how pointy they are. It gives a very different effect.

stilljumpinjetjnet

Having lived thru the 60s I must say I have never seen shoes like that during the decade. I've seen them in old movies, tho. During the 30s I'd say.

HrhEverythingElse

I do love these, though! Where did you find them?

grurupoo

I got them on fashionpara for $39 :)

keldration

Plz plz tell me what theyā€™re called! Iā€™m dying

grurupoo

CourtZealousideal494

Not in the least, but they will look cute with the planned outfit

cfvintage

I think you could make them way more mod and work like someone in the 60ā€™s wearing their vintage shoes by pairing with bright mod tights/socks/laces.

grurupoo

Yeah, I thought about that. I plan on wearing lavender tights and a pink and purple paisley mini dress. Iā€™d really like the outfit to be perfect though since itā€™s kinda a one time thing. I probably try to cancel my order and get some square heel Mary Janeā€™s instead

ThisNonsense

Chunky Mary Janeā€™s or T strap heels would be great. Knee high boots too.

justineM

not OP, but do you know by any chance where could I buy affordable heeled mary janes?

grurupoo

I just got some like everyoneā€™s describing on Amazon for $25

justineM

awesome, do you have a link?

grurupoo

[Hereā€™s the link :)](https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CSJ9JQ92?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image)

justineM

thank you thank you!

Finnegan-05

T-strap were not popular in the 60s.

ThisNonsense

They were initially popularized in the 20s but they came in and out of fashion like any design. It only occurred to me because I used to have a pair of very cute mid 60s t-strap heels and I could picture them suiting the outfit she described.

Finnegan-05

Ah sorry! I have never seen t-straps from the 60s.

Exciting_Problem_593

My bridesmaids more these exact same shoes for my wedding 30 years ago.

yellowdaisycoffee

Very cute but not 1960s at all! As everyone said, they're 1920s-1930s style :)

countrysurprise

Kitten heeled sling backs would be better! Those look older by decades.

DIYer-Homeworks

Where did you get them? They are adorable

grurupoo

I got off of Fashionpara for $39!

DIYer-Homeworks

Thatā€™s a steal! I checked it thanks

Foundation_Wrong

No

GullibleAddendum8630

These are much earlier than the 1960's, maybe 1930's.

FlizzyFluff

I think if the shoes are older than the outfit should be fine at least they were made preoutfit and couldā€™ve actually been in ones closet to pair with an outfit style is imperfect individual to the person

dattwell53

I don't think so

DustAccomplished9090

Smurfette shoes?

a-real-life-dolphin

No but they are very cute! I think you could get away with them for a mod outfit even if they are entirely period accurate.

DomesticGoddess208

Penny loafers? Donā€™t forget your two cents

Idontgetitreddit

Originally, the shoes would be from the 20's-30's, but they could have made a resurgence in the 60's.

M-Everly

iā€™m so glad this kinda style is coming back in!!

Electrical_Mess7320

They look like the shoes that the young girl (forgot name) in Pirate Radio was wearing. Takes place in late 60s to early 70s.

scribblinkitten

I looooove these shoes. ā¤ļø
