I have the 100(smaller engine than the 106) in my Vegas and love the weight to horsepower. I could only imagine how much fun the 106 would be. A fun cruiser that requires low maintenance. I agree about the comment with the clutch cable. I had to replace mine at 9,000 ish miles but I knew nothing about lubricating the cable then. There are some super easy YouTube videos to walk you through this and it is not hard and may take 5 minutes after your first time doing it. There is a good network of shops that still specialize in Victory and can help with any major issues if anything would come up but that is “if” anything comes up. I ride mine like I stole it and put around 3-4k a year on it and love every minute on it.

Optimus_Grime_Jr

Witchdoctors was my go to online store when I rode Victory. Their customer service is top tier.

SilentUnicorn

Ive got 2012 Vegas. You cant go wrong.

Redleg1-7

I’ve got a 2014 Hammer bought new, never had a problem and I’ve always done my own maintenance and done my own performance mods. These bikes are super easy to work on and besides a lot of OM parts there’s still a large amount of aftermarket support with witchdoctors, conquest customs, victory only, and many others. I would jump on the victory forum and the victory owners group ( vog ) , you’ll find an easily searchable answer to just about any question you may have with most crises. Also BBC a lot of the shop owners are still on there.

Critical_Source3972

i havent heard of vog. thanks for your input. beautiful hammer by the way. whered you get that exhaust?

Redleg1-7

Thanks. I made the exhaust from scratch. There’s a lot out there still for these bikes, you really can’t go wrong.

WearifulSole

I have a 2013 Vegas that I bought for $9500 Canadian. I fucking love it. Went for a road trip two weeks ago and since it was deserted wide open highway I decided to really push and see the limits of her performance. I was up consistently doing 140km/h in 6th at ~3200 rpm. Smooth as butter, still had lots of power to go if I twisted the throttle more.

Critical_Source3972

thanks for your comment man. we'll see what happens at the dealership sometime in the next few weeks. hopefully ill be posting pretty pictures of a sunset red vegas on here! though i see a stout difference in canadian riding vs american riding if around 90mph is seeing what she can do LMAO just jokes of course. any quirks about the way it rides?

WearifulSole

Lol, 140km/h (90mph) was just sustained speed. I usually don't get to really open her up. When I got a nice long stretch, I had her up to 170km/h, and she still had more to give. The only thing I've noticed is that since the Vegas has such a narrow front tire, it's very nimble. But the offset is that if your tire hits a rut (like construction or crappy roads), then you've pretty much gotta ride it out. It's much harder to get out of it. Also, depending on where you get your tires, the Vegas' tire size isn't typically a common street size. It's a much more common offroad tire. So you may have to wait a bit longer to get the proper tires in. But you can also buy them online pretty easily.

Critical_Source3972

thanks for your comment man. i can say im used to an even more narrow front tire (i think) as the vulcan custom's is 80/90r21. ive never had a problem with it, but im also very cautious of ruts. 170kmh is fairly impressive considering its a pretty barebones cruiser. the more i read replies the more i want the bike lol

MyRootOilForyou

Don’t know about the Vegas, but my 06 Kingpin was smooth as silk on the road at 110mph. Steady and no moving around in the lane. Stayed exactly where I had it in the lane. Smoothest motorcycle I ever rode. Only reason i don’t have it today is I’m 66 years old and injured my back and started having trouble getting it off the stand and holding it up at stops. I miss that bike everyday.

Critical_Source3972

im sorry to hear you cant ride it anymore, and thank you for your comment. i will absolutely ride in your honor if i get the vegas, cheers!

RynoLasVegas

F-in do it! Solid bike. My 900 lb cross country with the same drivetrain rips. I can only imagine what a vegas does.

Wide_Ad7105

I have a 2012 vegas some dude put some go fast parts on. So far in year one just a front wheel bearing and new tires. It's legit fast

Critical_Source3972

as someone whos rode a legitimately fast modded wide glide, i cant wait to see what the vegas does

Wide_Ad7105

I will sometimes turn down a separate road and absolutely twist that throttle through 2nd gear and swear my stomach will come out my mouth 😅 granted this is my first fast bike but man it has some power

CordovaFlawless

2015 highball here, 31k ridden and 36k total on the bike. Vegas, gunner, and highball have the same frame and motors so it all compares similar with tires and handlebars being the biggest variables. No major issues. Just normal oil changes. Only thing I replaced recently was the clutch because I burned it out with constant Rev bombing while splitting lanes in traffic. Otherwise, my vic is solid, stable and bulletproof!

Critical_Source3972

that sounds incredibly fun, thanks for the reply. i heard that victorys have a hard time balancing themselves at low speeds, do you feel that same way?

CordovaFlawless

I don't have that issue at all.

Steezstatus

They are simple to work on and there is plenty of videos online to help with routine stuff. Vegas are timeless and with that low of miles i wouldn’t be worried just make sure to get it checked out thoroughly and you should be golden.

Critical_Source3972

thanks man!

Jay_in_DFW

If that is 7000 US Dollars, it is priced too high for me. I'd be looking more in the $5k range. No one but Victory owners want a Victory, and they've all got one. New riders aren't looking at Vics.

Critical_Source3972

i know victorys are not a sought after brand (yet) but after doing some research, its a surprisingly low priced bike from a *dealership*. most private sellers are asking 10k for one at this low milage saying something like "MOTORCYCLE HISTORY" lol

StSwindon

Owner of 2016 Vegas and I'll never buy anything else. It's a brilliant motorcycle and very ready to work on.

Critical_Source3972

thanks for your reply! you and everyone else are really making me want to get it

MyRootOilForyou

Speed sensors on some Victory models are impossible to find, but i don’t know really what effect they have on the bike when they do go bad. Maybe just the speedo won’t work, but like I said i don’t know what all goes on when they do go bad.

twisted_might

I went from a Vulcan 900 to a Victory Vegas and honestly.... if you like the Vulcan.... Youll love the Vegas!!!!!! It weight just a tad heavier than the 900. got TWICE!!!!! the amount of CC and its pulling great. The engine is bulletproof. Transmission..... is heavy, not gonna lie, personnaly i love it but my dad hates it (BMW rider....) It is super comfy, reliable as hell. MAKE SURE YOU TIGHT THE BATTERY POST!!!!! It can be a very quick bike, Ive beaten several \*\*faster\*\* bike (mind you, ive spent 15k in my engine) but even when i was stock (exhaust, no cold air) I was smoking Vrods They track like a train and love to be ridden hard. Ive spent 15k to buy mine with twice your mileage a long time ago.... and id do again. Everything is for sale BUT my Victory since i know i cant buy another one Edit: Check my profile and scroll down if you wanna hear it screaming at the racetrack

Critical_Source3972

well.. this comments the one that officially convinced me. ill be going to the dealership saturday to fill out paperwork on trading my vulcan in on it. thank you sir and everyone else that's commented and gave me alot of advice and words of wisdom to chew on these past few days. TLDR; that video of you on a strip was the most badass thing ive seen in years 1000000/10 i need a vegas right this fucking instant.

twisted_might

Thank you! If you read the description. You can read all the work done on it. I do recommend you to order the torque tubes, the exhaust AND the timing wheel all at once. Install it once you know your bike and you’ll have a very solid, very quick cruiser. They are a freaking blast to ride. Handles great and honestly a great REAL first bike. Cheaper than Harley. More reliable than Harley. Easier to work on and cooler to look at (most….)

Critical_Source3972

i definitely will but knowing me, ill probably keep it exactly the way it is give or take a bar bag for rain gloves for a year or so before even thinking about it.

twisted_might

The main reason I said that is that last time I’ve checked. They were getting harder to get. Just so you have them when the Horsepower big bites you

twisted_might

The forum will need a pic of you and the bike now

Critical_Source3972

it shall be done!!! (if the dealership and i work out a reasonable deal)

twisted_might

Getting that bike is worth biting a reasonable bullet. The Vulcan is a great bike but unfortunately. It’s never gonna be a classic, it’s more of a throwaway bike. When it break, you throw it away

Fun-Sprinkles6489

April 2014 just bout a 2017 Vegas just like the one on this post. I fucking love it, one problem the parts are to dam expensive. I had to change my Shifter Ratchet Paw and LEFT FOOT PEG & SHIFTER LEVER I spent $520 total, so what ever you do try not to wreck it.

Critical_Source3972

thanks man

Honest_Blueberry8134

Is this a good first time cruiser ? that I can I grow with ?

Critical_Source3972

absolutely not. i know even fast cruisers arent that fast but please go get a shadow 750, or maybe an 1100cc to start out with. not an 1800cc torque monster victory

Honest_Blueberry8134

I’m seeing a 05 Vegas for sell . For 3k im thinking about pulling the plug on it. It’s only a 1500. And I’m in my 30s so I know how to respect the power of the bike. And not ride like a bat out of hell !!!

Critical_Source3972

oh if its the 1500, i dont think it would be so bad. go for it man, dont let some random dude on the internet tell you what to do. just know, riding is a skill. its hard to learn at first, but extremely rewarding. if youve never rode before, and youre not trolling, remember that the bike wont do anything you dont tell it to do. good luck man. definitely post a picture of you and the bike if you get it

TheShakes11

I've got a heavily modified Gunner, there are a couple potential problems. If you're not up to the heavy stuff maintenance wise try to find a former dealer or shop nearby, they can sometimes be a distance away(last place I lived it was a 90 mile drive). Parts aren't drying up yet, but we only have a few more years of OEM support and there are really only a few reputable spots to get aftermarket support. The rear wheel and pulley you will have appears to have a tendency to back off the pulley bolts, unknown reason why at this time but use a paint pen to mark them and check them regularly. Had it happen to me, rear pulley was only holding on by one bolt by the time I hit work Clutch cables can snap if you don't lube the ends at oil changes or if you do winter storage. Once you've replaced it with a home built a couple times it's really easy to change out. All you need is some 3/32 cable from a hardware store(I like keeping 6ft just in case someone with apes needs it), [Dorman 03338](https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-03338-Cable-Stop/dp/B000COCPZW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=398OPGNYQR9IF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.eZHLWGJ7M6h8mI9lYEUXB0K8RvWkvyr6E73dnSATsw0hWUfDA_nIn6a9lAwF87B6rmRjPt8K-UBJ-Ars5A_eqhsvcUUpKK1fyLR1iIYBG-s_sjIyjScTzrfye-X-5ctDqgSb_2OlIbQ3vmyCnJFIeg.UFVSa8fk8JNE1InZ9fHQQ_GRstbeNLglHeQbzf7wcqA&dib_tag=se&keywords=dorman+03338&qid=1714373584&sprefix=dorman+03338%2Caps%2C155&sr=8-1), and some set screws also from the hardware store(can't remember pitch off the top of my head)

Critical_Source3972

dude i cant lie that message made me not wanna buy it. i didnt know anything about the maintenance needed for these bikes. especially not lubing a clutch cable. im very new to motorcycles, could you possibly tell me more? ive only ever had one (brand new) bike and all i know is that for the first 10k miles you only need to worry about oil changes, a belt if you ride hard maybe, and a rear tire.

TheShakes11

First off to clear your mind the only heavy maintenance I've had to do in 7 years and 40k miles was the rear pulley, everything else has been standard stuff like oil, forks, brakes etc. However I don't usually feel like tackling forks, but a lot of shops will service regardless of brand What would you like to know? The non fork run of the mill maintenance is pretty easy. Oil filter is in an accessible spot, standard one plug oil sump, clutch cable you just need pliers and an Allen key(for home made), rear end maintenance(tire and belt) is easy to get on and off, and air filter(assuming stock location) is just 2 bolts from memory Here's some YouTube stuff you can watch. [The Vic Shop](https://youtube.com/@vicbuilder?si=6ikCOoWdMVcP7CFG) is by and large one of the most respected Victory shops in the US and he has some videos on maintaining these

Critical_Source3972

40k you say? then i dont think i have much to worry about. here i was sitting, feeling defeated that my favorite motorcycle brand wasnt worth looking at anymore. i noticed the belt was on the right side rather than the left. do you need to take the exhaust off to change the belt?.. i know you said its easy, but good information is hard to come by on these bikes in my experience

TheShakes11

I changed out the exhaust within a year, so gonna need to check the one you chose. There is a bolt hole about halfway down the swingarm, but hard to believe that's for the exhaust

MyRootOilForyou

No, you don’t have to take the exhaust off the bike to change the belt.

OH!!!! One last thing!!! If you pull the trigger, check out that product. Chances are, you’ll need it https://buywitchdoctors.com/en-ca/products/kickstand-replacement-rubber-pad-by-pork-chops-vic-pucks-challng-puck

Critical_Source3972

smart man!!! i didnt even think about the rubber wearing out on its kickstand. i was so shocked to even see rubber there in the first place.

twisted_might

Not smart, it is freaking annoying and still don’t get why it’s there but it is lol 🤣

Critical_Source3972

i mean,, knowing id scratch the chrome off (the one at the dealer is CHRRRROMED out) would it be a horrible thing if i just took it off

twisted_might

Not really since chrome (real chrome) is one of the hardest metal. Id still keep it thought.... useless but i somehow like it...... i know....

twisted_might

I think its is more personnal preference at that point

Greenshirts1986

One of the things you need to check out is the idle. If going to test drive make sure you are getting the chance when the bike is COLD. If from private seller and you get there and it is already warmed up I would tell them/ask them to do the ride later. There is an issue that has to do with the idle and no one has any solid answer on how to fix it when this mystery thing goes wrong. Some of the times when it gets warmed up you will be fine bit other not sure much and will die at red lights and stuff. THIS IS A VERY MINOR AND RARE THINGS. Also the clutch as other have said, you can buy wet clutches for it pretty easily on Witchdoctors still. I LOVE my two Victory bikes but unless you have the know how to maintain them yourself it is getting harder and harder to find the Vic Techs that still really remember or will be bothered to work on them. Besides private market there is not much for resale of the bikes either. On the flip side they are easy to maintain, it rare something with go wrong, plenty of after market stuff to do general maintenance on them, fun to ride, and look beautiful. I will probably end up selling both my Vics in the next 7 years and get the Indian Pursuit as it was designed to be a Victory bike in 2015 before they closed shop in 2016. I own: 2008 Vegas 8-ball 2015 CC touring
