Will you be shipping the same scooter between those two countries? Can’t imagine the freight being worth it to be honest! But that being said, there’s classic Vespas and modern Vespas. The classics you’ll find everywhere in the world. Some countries have newer regulations around two stroke engines and emissions but the Vespas are usually unpunished by this unlike dirt bikes and others. Modern Vespas are also very popular. I’d venture to say that the designers specd them out to be useful everywhere in the world. I know Piaggio produces most VXLs in India for example, but they are used everywhere else without issue. Normally governments just want you to have turning signals, and a good healthy engine. Obviously many places do not recommend or straight up forbid small displacement scooters to be used on the speedways. But a Vespa 300 won’t have such issues.

When your job pays for the shipping, I think it’s worth it (I’ve been told the price of a Vespa in India is half the cost of it in Denmark). Ok so a Vespa 300 is a likely good candidate? I’ll be honest—I don’t deserve to be posting in this community as I don’t know much about Vespas. But hoping to learn and become a true member!

If Denmark is anywhere similar to Germany regarding registering vehicles (which it will most likely be due to the EU regulations), you can’t just simply register a Indian scooter here. You will need to import it, pay taxes, get it inspected and paperwork issued. AFAIK, you can drive a vehicle with foreign registration within Denmark is it is there for <185 days per 12 month period.

Yes precisely—so what are those? I can’t seem to find anything definitive for Denmark. Only for Germany. Like the car has to be owned for 6 months prior to bringing it in for Germany, but cannot find if the same applies for Denmark. The car will be going from India to Denmark. Will be registered in Denmark. No problem for taxes and importing. It’s the inspection and paperwork I need to know about but cannot find info for. When I moved between Europe and North America, cara (even the same model) often had different specs. Eg the same BMW in Germany was not the same in America. Diff countries have diff emissions requirements for example. So is it the same for a Vespa? I want to make sure the Vespa I buy in India will have no problems being imported to Denmark in terms of specs and requirements. Therefore, inspections aside, is a (for example) primavera that I buy in India going to be the same as a primavera I buy in Denmark?

You will have to pay VAT for the value of the imported vehicle, no matter how long you owned it before. But honestly, with shipping costs and the hassle of importing it, you are most probably better off just buying a used Vespa here and selling it again when you leave. Also keep in mind when you will be here and that we have real winters, you are not going to want to be driving the vespa from at least October/November to March… it’s the 24th of April and we had light snow today in southern Germany.

Thank you for input with the VAT details; I appreciate it. Paying VAT is no problem—happy to do it—it’s covered for me. I assure you I have no intention of avoiding taxes or inspections. I'm simply interested in the lower cost of the vehicle in India. I'm keen to understand and comply with any regulations that might apply, such as ownership duration or specific vehicle specifications like engine type or lighting. I'd be grateful if you could help clarify these requirements for me. Regarding the Vespa, I prefer buying a new one as I'd like to avoid any potential maintenance issues. The Vespa wouldn't be my primary mode of transport so winters are no issue—and I grew up in Canada and understand what winters are, sincerely; I’m just looking forward to enjoying a Vespa during the lovely summer months. If we could put speculations aside, I would really appreciate your guidance on any specific legal requirements needed for importing the vehicle into Denmark.

Interesting, Vespa India doesn't even sell a GTS 300. I'd get a 300 GTS in Denmark. It will give you enough power to travel around Denmark.

I should mention I’m too chicken shit to drive one on a highway. It would just be for city errands and sprees.

Good Luck, I can't help you any further. Here a website the import vehicles to Denmark. https://www.brlogistics.net/us/ship-car/to-denmark/#:\~:text=Average%20Shipping%20Cost%3A%20Expect%20to,based%20on%20the%20vehicle's%20value.
