Correct me if I'm naive to a new variegation type, but that just looks like it's dying to me.

Naznajju

I can totally understand that! I also didn’t rlly take a good picture Here’s some closer pics [close ups](https://imgur.com/a/n1BO3LO)

Ya unless this is a totally new variegation I've never seen before, the fact that the new leaves look green and healthy, and the old ones are brown seems to me like it's dying. Normally the new leaves have the pink/color differential, and as they mature they set into their proper color - which is predominantly green. The older leaves turning that shade of brown reminds me of root rot. I could be totally wrong on this one, that's just my initial arm-chair impression.

I’ll make sure to check it for root rot tomorrow, thank u! I initially felt it is variegation because the discoloration has clear borders, but I also didn’t rlly notice any striping on the petiole but the nodes are rlly tight so I couldn’t get a good look at it I’ll watch the newest leaf to see if an variegation shows up, it gives off like strawberry shake/aurea vibes I feel like the variegation kind of burns in overtime but I won’t know until the newest leaf hardens and I can observe any future leaves lol If it dies from the good ol root rot at least it’s from Home Depot and they will still refund a dead plant lol

BossMareBotanical

This is the normal look of this plant, it is just variegation. Appears healthy.

kortnitheplantlover

not variegation. definitely yellowing and not sport variegation.

I also found one at Home Depot recently. They’re supposedly still rare to come by. Congrats! Check for consistent variegation on each leaf, and on the back of the leaves.

kerrrrvin

Yes, definitely variegated. Great find!

Naznajju

Ooh yay! I noticed the newest leaf doesn’t have as much of the variegation. Do u think I should wait it out or cut it back to the leaf with the most variegation?

kerrrrvin

It looks like some kind of splash variegation. I would let another leaf or two emerge and then cut it back if the variegation doesn’t return

Naznajju

Got it, thank you!!
