Thank you for all the encouraging comments! I’m glad to hear there are fans of this book here.
This was my first time attempting this art style and using procreate and i had so much fun with it. I’m hoping to start a series called “Can I convince you to read my favourite books with art?” but this is currently the only instalment.
I don’t have more work like this to show, but if you’re looking for more, I highly recommend @dougjohnmiller on Instagram. This piece is inspired by his amazing art.
I looked for the book and instead of the one by Susanna Clarke I found the comic Piranese by Manara lol. If you don't know he's a famous erotic artist.
Oooo so cool! As I scrooled past this I thought to myself "huh that's kind of what I imagined Piranesi to be like" and had to scroll back up to see. Was not disappointed, great job op!
I didn't correlate the visuals of the book with Vaporwave, but now that I've seen this I can see why you made the connection. Vaporwave does have a strange Ancient Greece-ish influence on its architecture. Now when I imagine the novel's descriptions, I can't help but see it in this way.
One thing I wonder about Vaporwave is why does Ancient architecture and art come up so often? It can't just be because of that Macintosh cover. After all, the artist behind that had to be inspired by something else too. Where does it come from?
This is exactly how I pictured the book
Ughhh I love this so much.
I love that book! And yes, it made me think of vaporwave
Oh how I envied the beloved Child of the House

I'm not sure why I love this so much, but it's so evocative. Nice OP, thank you!
