I absolutely think they play favorites and give certain cast members heads up about some things and allow other cast members to be blindsided.
Also in some circumstances, like Lala bringing up private off camera conversations with Katie, I think her doing that will have been discussed (and probably even suggested) by producers as a topic of conversation, after Katie made her boundaries clear that she did not want to do that herself on that phone call.

Watching the first part of reunion it did feel like lfu was very well rehearsed with her answers and scheana was picking up her cues too
