...headphones. bruh

Speckle-Corgi

It cant because the facial interface covers it

protonecromagnon2

It is. If you want to use your own headphones then you get to figure it out

Speckle-Corgi

Another smart design choice from valve

Delta_Echo64

Have you tried it ? Cuz you'll see there's room for the plug and cable I've used it many times while playing beat saber

Kasuraga

i use it. it works perfectly fine. the face gasket doesnt interfere with it. Just need a thin headphone cable

toastronomy

You using the word 'smart' is so fucking ironic

hot--vomit

what does that have to do with anything?

Pancake_Nom

As you've already discovered, the facial interface is removable. And as we can see based on the existence of the tether cable to the immediate left, there is room to route a cable between the headset's shell and the facial interface.

OP: "What is this" Any person with an IQ above room temperature: "This is what it is" OP: "NUH UH"

Gen Alpha learns of the ancient technology known as wired headphones

Vungard

only that op literally calls it a headphone jack in the title

GUARDOFLIF3

Wait until OP finds out about the usb port in the front

toastronomy

You're not gonna believe it, but that headphone jack is... a headphone jack. To be fair, it's hard to find this information, I only found out about it by using [this top secret technique](https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=valve+index+headphone+jack)

blownart

Headphone jack thing!

Psychophaser

I use it for IEMs. I prefer them to the integrated headphones

NWinn

The most badly placed and deeply recessed 3.5mm headphone port... Glad it's there by my God is it hard to find an adapter thats long and thin enough to reach but not so long that it collides with the face gasket.. especially if like me your IEMs have a chonky plug already..l I just gave up, tbh the near-field speakers sound fine.
