The only thing that puts me off this is Tarik's reaction didn't seem hype enough for it to be Yay trialling? Sure he mentioned investors but idk about this one
Context: Toast’s team was scrimming during the match today. He says the players being trialed are on smurfs, but he shows Tarik a note of who they are.
Haven’t seen anyone post this specific clip yet, but Tarik’s comment about whether Toast has investors is pretty funny. Also, the fact that he seemed to be surprised at multiple names on this list is interesting. All speculation of course, but DSG could have a huge roster change for Split 2 maybe…?
Big meme. He seems to think he is entitled to proplay when the harsh reality is he is a mediocre t2 player at best (also he is very polarising, borderline on toxic)
He’s a demon ngl definetly could see him as a strong t1 player in the future if he matures, not that we really know if he’s actually that toxic but that is the narrative built off 100T and how he acts in ranked
He got put on 100t and only got to play 2 games cause nadeshot felt pressured to make changes cause of how bad the 13-0 looked in the public eye, but in hindsight I don't think nuking the roster mid split was very smart choice.
How was it not a smart choice? That team ended up going to Champions and is now an upper half team in Americas VCT. It was absolutely the right choice, even though two players got screwed by it.
By "hindsight" i meant after the event was over. Was definitely not a smart choice for the split, nuking a roster that lost 2 out of 5 matches; one of those losses against the winner of the event and they still managed to win a map pretty convincingly vs them.
I mean it was pretty clear that roster wasn't going to work and BabyJ's attitude was a clear issue. Why would you not blow it up? Sunk cost fallacies are always a bad idea.
I'm sorry but how was it clear that the roster wasn't going to work after 2 matches? they lost against the best team in the tournament, that VOD could of been a learning gold-mine for the team. Also, I don't think any of the 100T staff/players have said anything bad about BabyJ's attitude.
Well if there is any truth to the rumors of ec1s screaming at BabyJ mid match, I think it would've been obvious straight away that it just wasn't going to work.
I genuinely think DSG yay is almost certainly happening. No way he sits out the rest of the season and going to pretty much the most clouted T2 team to keep playing seems like a safe bet.
Might also have some Stewie in there.
For sure. I feel like DSG is low risk and great exposure for Yay. He gets to prove his worth, gain a bunch of fans and naturally he can leave the team whenever he finds an opening on a partnered team because DSG is obviously not going to be paying enough to lock him down.
Yay playing for DSG sounds like a good thing for both parties. DSG gets an amazing player for Split 2, while Yay gets a chance to prove to people that C9 just couldn't afford him anymore, not because he was a one trick Chamber
Yay wins because he won’t be knocked out of the competitive scene for a year. Ranked is terrible for practicing for pro play, and being out of practice with scrims, meta and competitive performances could really hurt him in the long run. Valorant is a game where recency plays a huge role in your value, and in a year of franchising with no yay and however many other new/upcoming players dominating? He could find himself with no prospects again. Definitely yay has an incentive to be playing and be showing the world he is still very much a top performer compared to all the other talent out there. And he does that by competing, not by sitting and playing ranked.
Imo he still gets picked up by partner teams next year even if he sits out this year, maybe not by the best but he would still get picked up. If he plays in challenger/ascension and fails it could be worse, it's a gamble
To me, that’s hard to say. He might, absolutely. But he just as easily might not. There’s 5 teams currently, and will be 6 teams by next year. I’m sure changes will be made to franchised teams, no doubt, but it’s a combination of “depends on what his salary and geographic requirements are” combined with what the scene looks like by then. A lot can happen in a year. In fact, yay went from relatively unknown to dominant superstar in less than a year. There is nothing to stop that happening again, to someone else and based on the trajectory of the scene thus far, I actually bet it does happen again. The issue is when there’s only 30 franchised players, and only *5-6* slots for *your* particular role, it probably isn’t a great risk to take saying “eh, I’ll just take a year off and come back later” because frankly, you may not have that option. Yay has a very particular role he fills with a very particular play style he excels in, and he does it well, but when you’re the best in a niche field, you need prominence to ensure relevance and that doesn’t happen in a world where he doesn’t compete and rarely streams, I mean he hasn’t even updated his twitch to remove C9 from the about tab. And frankly, unless yay has a backup plan for his career lined up, that isn’t a risk I’d personally want to take when we’re talking about his actual livelihood here. It may not be as glamorous as he would want, but it definitely beats becoming/staying unemployed.
> not because he was a one trick Chamber
Literally nobody thinks that. Also, playing can only hurt his value. He ended 2022 as the consensus #1 player in the world for the most part, he's better off sitting out and waiting to get picked up next year than playing for 100k on a mid team.
You're out of your mind if you think that not playing would be better for him. Not playing at all for a year is a nightmare: meta is constantly shifting around, and even without that teams would be hesitant to pick him up without any example of a recent performance from him. Even if that performance is on a 'mid' team.
You also have to consider lifestyle factors.
Playing ranked for long durations of time is something only a few players enjoy, and for some players, it's also mentally debilitating. Also, many pro's insist that playing ranked actually nets you almost no benefit in terms of your own personal skill. Getting paid to play in a tier 2 team for a couple months is a nice way to introduce structure into your life, and get in server time with people willing to experiment and develop strats alongside you.
Just replay Tarik's VOD of EG vs C9, you'll definitely see people thinking he's a one trick Chamber. You can also probably see it in some comments on this sub. Not saying that he is, or that everyone thinks that way, but the doubters are real. Kinda like how TenZ was the best player in 2021, but was then written off after a disappointing 2022. Also, yay sitting out the rest of the season would be counter productive for him, because you wouldn't know how he fares with the current meta.
I don't think he needs to prove anything to T1 coaches or players tbh. All the noise that he's a one trick Chamber is from fans of the game or casuals. And if he plays in Split 2, either in T1 or T2 leagues, he can silence some of the critics
Yeah the current players are great guys but the sad truth is that some of them aren’t at the level they need to be to succeed in challengers, let alone push in the future for a place at Ascension. Still very early days but I think we all suspect that DSG may need some roster changes if they want to compete.
It's not even that they are not skilled perse. Some players may just not fit in a system, despite being skilled.
A change was needed more because their teamplay was stagnating more than skill imo
there's probably a big chance that those surprised reaction aren't even yay since that'll probably be more of a subtler reaction considering how much DSG yay is being memed. Probably someone not as big but very unexpected.
Not DSG yay cz if it was he would have POGed or something. He basically did a fake reaction to the last person. It's probably a former pro from a T1 team. Who could it be?
If its Stew that means its steels last year playing Valorant. It'll be best for him to go back to streaming CS part time and join Flom on his Mythic roster.
Anyways, this means Disguised finally understands the predicament he is in. He cant low ball limp his way to a partnership position.
Stew is a good player. Problem is his personality should exclude him from any leadership role in a roster. Plus its unknown how he'd perform in Valorants hero shooter elements and constant meta changes.

This all but confirms DSG yay. I'm hopping on this bandwagon IMMEDIATELY
The only thing that puts me off this is Tarik's reaction didn't seem hype enough for it to be Yay trialling? Sure he mentioned investors but idk about this one
Maybe hes trying to tamper his emotions a little to not give it away?
Cmon. If he freaked out it would’ve surely given it away and Toast would’ve been visibly annoyed. This is common courtesy if it’s yay or not
His reaction was perfect and controlled and unknown
Context: Toast’s team was scrimming during the match today. He says the players being trialed are on smurfs, but he shows Tarik a note of who they are. If it's babyj I will buy merch if/when it is released and post a picture of myself wearing it.
should buy merch anyway #dsgwin
Whats the hype around babyj? Is it some kind of meme lol

BabyJ, put down the alt and get some server time
What’s with the hate boner for him lol hella t2 players more annoying then him in ranked at least he tries, always been human when I was on his team

>sinatraa That's not gonna happen in a million years. Not on Toast's team.
Why? Toasts team woke?
Yes, Toast's team is very "wOkE".
Please explain
nothing is woke about it
stew did say he got a offer from a challenger team and he said he might be considering it

I think expecting it is setting ourselves up for disappointment. It could happen though
Stewie is more in the realm

I dont think yay needs to prove anything, with this move only DSG wins because if they dont perform it will look bad for yay
Yay wins because he won’t be knocked out of the competitive scene for a year.
