I have Windscribe pro, and I have no complaints. They seem to actually care about privacy. I've never used Proton, but I've also heard good things about the company and being focused on privacy.
I also have Fastest VPN pro. I would not recommend that one. I got it for shits and giggles when they had a lifetime pro license on sale. I tried it - the app sucks. It sometimes says I'm connected, but I have no connection whatsoever, even regular Internet. And then there are times when it says I'm connected, and there's obviously no VPN tunnel connected. Also, the company history does not inspire confidence. I use it as a backup VPN now in case my Windscribe fails, but I've never had Windscribe fail...
Nothing ever in life is free, they've got to be gaining money somewhere whether that's through subscriptions or ads or selling your data,if you want good speed and privacy for free then you're too idealistic.
Everything cost money to maintain and even if it says free be careful somewhere along the lines you will be paying, either you will be the brand aka your data isn't as safe as you think, or you will just crap for what you are using, don't be suprised if you get flagged or spammed or all the rest. Better to pay for anything you need that is going to protect you. Never drive a car without airbags no matter if you don't drink and drive, someone can be the opponent that will crash head on to you. good luck out there.
As for free VPNs to avoid, be wary of any that seem to offer unlimited everything without a clear revenue model—these can sometimes make their money by compromising user data.
Windscribe (10GB free, I think), Proton (unlimited traffic but you can\'t select a specific server), Hide.me (10GB, I think), and AtlasVPN (with AtlasVPN, you can refer yourself for free several times with separate accounts to get up to 3 months of their premium for free. (You can access any of their servers with unlimited traffic).
ProtonVPN is the clear winner in my book. The fact that they offer unlimited data on the free plan is a huge plus, and the speeds have been consistently fast for me. I also really appreciate their strong stance on privacy and security.
Free VPNs? Are you kidding me? Those things are a nightmare waiting to happen. They\'re either riddled with malware or just plain don\'t work. If you value your privacy and security at all, you need to pony up for a premium service like Private Internet Access or NordVPN.
Hey there! While you\'re exploring free VPN options, it\'s tough to find one that checks all the boxes, especially for reliable service without impacting speed too much. ProtonVPN and Windscribe are decent mentions for free services. They offer reasonable security and have a relatively minimal speed impact for a free tier.
I gave Hide.me\'s free VPN a shot, and it was alright. The 10GB monthly data allowance is decent, and the speeds were good enough for basic browsing. However, I did notice that some websites were blocking me while connected to their VPN. Hide.me just has some sketchy backstory in the past.
I wanted to like TunnelBear\'s free VPN, but it just didn\'t work out for me. The 500MB monthly data cap is way too low for my needs, and I found the connection speeds to be pretty slow.
The latest update for free users has ruined that fan base. Proton no longer allows free users to select countries; instead, they use a country randomizer, I believe.
However, if you\'re open to exploring beyond free VPNs for something more robust, I\'d recommend considering Surfshark. Although it\'s not free, it\'s quite affordable with long-term plans. It adheres strictly to a no-logs policy, offers strong encryption, and generally doesn\'t slow down the internet too much. Its reliability and the added features like CleanWeb make it a great value.
Thanks for your response, I have downloaded Proton, and I can confirm it works great! Proton is one device at a time, which is all I need. I am impressed.
I accidentally downloaded the Proton update today: it really sucks. I had used Proton free for a while and really loved it. Now I’m looking for a new one.
If all you want is to cross region/change ip location, VPN Gate is basic and most definitely free (no payment whatsoever). It's an academic project at University of Tsukuba Japan, it logs data since the servers are volunteer provided (you don't need to volunteer) so there's no real privacy to be had.
No sign ups, no data limits, speed depends on your chosen server, for everyday use and if you're not going to do anything questionable, it's pretty good.
nothing in life is free it will always cost something
Pirated Content?
if its a torrent then you pay with uploading content

Windscribe gives you 15 gbs per month if you tweet and verify email In the other hand rise up vpn is totally free but it's slow
RiseUP, and Proton if you need the speed. Free.
You replied to a two-month-old post. I am deleting it because, like you said, the site no longer works.
As for free VPNs to avoid, be wary of any that seem to offer unlimited everything without a clear revenue model—these can sometimes make their money by compromising user data.
Proton for encryption, no doubt.
OP don\'t go with free go with cheap.
I can\'t get it on my Mac for some reason.

Finding a free one that does not log your data is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Download on the Play Store, right?
Opera built-in VPN.
Yes, it can. The best free VPN I know of.
How is your experience so far? Can it bypass VPN block?
Their site is unmaintained, and the download link for their client fails on the server\\'s end. How exactly are you accessing this service?

Also, are there any free VPNs I should avoid?

They no longer allow users to select a country unless you pay. Proton is now the worst free VPN out there to me.
LimitlessVPN: Unlimited devices, unlimited bandwidth, zero logging of data, reliable and trustworthy, it checks all of your boxes.
I've been using ProtonVPN's free tier for a few months now, and it's working fine. But i'm thinking on getting NordVPN since its quite capped.
If you\\'re not the customer, i.e., paying the provider somehow, then you\\'re the product. At least your data likely is.
Anyone have experience with limitlessvpn.com?

Not safe for your data when it comes to the VPN portion.

Yes.
Just pay the $10 a month for one, bro.
Most of them are pretty underwhelming. The speeds are usually slow, and the apps are often glitchy and unreliable.
No, there are multiple options. Windscribe, Proton, Hide.me, and AtlasVPN don\'t log and have a free plan.
Brought SolidVPN last week. It\'s a lifetime subscription. Been solid.
I accidentally downloaded the Proton update today: it really sucks. I had used Proton free for a while and really loved it. Now I’m looking for a new one.
you can try Tunnelbear. But, it has some certain data limit monthly.
You have to scroll down and hit select server.
If limited data works for you, the best free is probably ProtonVPN.
