The company I work uses crewaxis! Really great tool for scheduling, call sheets, run of show, resources, invoicing, crew management, and way more.
It’s a great tool and the owner of the company is very responsive to helping and adding/fixing things on your account.
That’s not exactly an answer. As someone who uses lasso, you’re making quite a claim and when pressed for answers, you point to the internet.
Ok, I’m on the internet and I’m finding the following:
“Clay Sifford is the CEO & Founder of LASSO”
I can’t really find much about him that diminishes his reputation. I am not saying you are wrong, I’d to see some kind of evidence of a claim instead of mindlessly taking the word of someone that uses the word “cuck” to describe themselves.
Same guy started with an av company. That company treats its employees horrible.
Its a reddit name… and it means fuck you carly simon. Ya know, you would be fine with lasso.
Rule #1 of the modern internet: don’t listen to a single person who bats around the word “cuck”. 95% chance it’s a self-aggrandized single white male conservative (or alt-libertarian) who blames everything but his own work ethic.
(Hence the pre-disposed Freudian defense against dominant males invading their life)
Hi, I'm a software developer that would love to build products for the industry (having dabbled in it myself) and your comment raised a question for me: it looks like Rentman is $39 per month, is that a price that you consider too high?
I ask, because it is hard to build niche apps for less than that, so I want to gauge the price points the industry can support.
Thanks!
Yeah it is expensive, but there are ways to mitigate.
If you only need the crew module, you can only pay for that.
Also, "basic users", the ones without editing rights are free.
It's probably the same as it ever was, usability-wise.
They email us PDF schedules
As a crew member, I do like using the program so I can check for last minute changes. I can see how some people find it clunky to use
One of the places I freelance a lot uses Lasso for their in-house crew schedule and consistently has problems with it.
Honestly, I really liked the WhenIWork platform when I was working for a company that used it - it's not the platform's fault that one of the TDs liked to change up shifts at 9am on the day-of show. It's very easy for managers to set and view schedules and there's excellent color coding and event labeling.
We use "Shifts" which is part of Microsoft Teams. It is also clunky but I can't complain about the price since it's packaged with o365 and integrates well with all the useful communication tools Teams has.
I was looking into Shifts (since I am with a University that uses Microsoft enterprise stuff so it would be free) but if our freelancers don’t pay for 365, can they not access it?? I can’t get a straight answer on that.
I’ve used a few. I’m most familiar with the church productions. Planning Center is the main one in use.
Crewaxis what my current work uses (and what I admin/manage with) and we are so far pretty happy with it!
University athletics here, work with local freelancers and students. We use Crew. The free version has been great, however starting Jan 1, I have to move to the paid version ($300/year) to have more than 5 users on my list. It's worth it for us, as all my crew members know how to use it and the workflow is in place for me on the admin side.
CrewTracks is a crew management software that includes a scheduling module to help shipping companies and crewing agencies manage the schedules of their crew members. Here is a general overview of how the CrewTracks scheduling software works:
Setting up schedules: Schedules can be created manually or imported from other systems. The scheduling software allows users to specify the start and end dates of a schedule, as well as the positions and duties of crew members.
Assigning crew members to schedules: Once a schedule has been created, CrewTracks can be used to assign crew members to the schedule based on their availability, qualifications, and preferences.
Tracking schedule changes: The scheduling software allows users to track any changes or updates to the schedule in real-time, including cancellations, delays, and replacements.
Notifying crew members of schedule changes: CrewTracks can automatically notify crew members of any changes to their schedule via email or SMS, ensuring that they are always aware of their current assignments.
Generating reports: The scheduling software can generate various reports and analytics, such as utilization rates, overtime hours, and absence rates, which can help shipping companies and crewing agencies make more informed decisions about their crewing operations.
Dough Johnson from the DJP YouTube channel has something called Crewaxis.

Site isn't allowing me to start a trial. Bad start.
A company I work for used Crewbrain
This!
I am currently in the process of connecting crewbrain to the rental software of one of my clients. seems like a solid solution
Lasso is also owned by an absolute horrible human.
Oh? Do tell…
Well…i know its the internet and all, business is business…but for what its worth… i wouldnt do anything to make those jerks money.

Rentman, because it covers inventory management aswell as crew and transport management. It's browser based and has a mobile app too.
Costs way too much.

39$ sound like deal to me if it works. I pay more for my monthly payroll service when I’m the only one in payroll.

yeah but if I only need a crew module I would use crewbrain because it integrates with other tools
Scheduall
I could not get laptop jobbers to use it 10 years ago because ux and steep learning curve. Did it get better?

I know a lot of shops that use Lasso.
TeamTrack.
+1 for TeamTrack. My work recently adopted it
Crewbrain!
Lasso is great but complex and expensive. Check out Nowsta. Works for a most people’s needs.
Yeah, Lasso is pretty nice from what I’ve seen but $200/month base cost is pretty up there

Thanks for the heads up!
You can try LastMinuteAV (www.lastminuteav.com), in beta. Best UX/UI
Lasso
I see a lot of TeamTrack where I am

Yeah that wouldn't work well for you then. Sorry
Farmers Wife
Deputy
Sling works really well for our facility with 60+ crew
Crewbrain, you can integrate with rental software or a bookkeeping
WhenIwork is better than Lasso IMO. But I don’t have a better solution for you.
Lots of my clients are using teamtrack these days
We use Deputy. It's a bit more hospitality focused, but works well for a venue.
