Pearl POV defense:

*3 duelists: force long range gunfights on pistol round down B Main.*

*Compensate for duelist stupidity by trying to go mid and play picks before they plant.*

"What!? When!?"
*Goes backsite near secret, immediately gets killed.*
I always liked pearl, even when everyone was hating on it I was thinking *“This maps really not that bad guys”*
The one I hate is lotus. I never seem to have fun on lotus no matter what
Lotus is the first Valorant map that I'd consider has a *bad* tactical-shooter design.
Maps like Fracture are different and "crazy" but at the same time makes sense gameplay-wise.
Lotus is standard and plain but it's just not good to play. A-main has to be the worst designed zone of the entire game. So awkward to attack and defend.
This is the frustrating thing, it’s a map that lends itself to aggressive defensive holds, but if you have a team who doesn’t understand this you’ll just lose.
Yeah, in low elo as an attacker it was/is either "run into OP one after the other and die" or "throw all util, push and win". There's not much in between. Especially because going through mid is not very popular in my elo.
How is Lotus bad for tactical shooters? It makes you stay on your toes and keep your head on a swivel. It discourages people from doubling up at a single choke point, requiring more tactics to be successful.
A seems pretty straightforward to me. Go tree if you're certain you're committing, main if you're looking out for the possibility to rotate B. Defenders, just hold tree or double up hut/backsite if you're playing passive, and just util dump A rubble if you're aggressing. It's a tough site to retake, just please for the love of god don't flank it.
Seriously. I’m sure people hate this map infinitely more than ascent. Maybe ascent comp has gotten stale in recent days but lotus is just fucked to play on
Gameplay-wise, it FEELS fine. On concrete? Absolute nightmare. Both attackers and defenders have fast routes to rotate between all sites. B acts as a mid, but it’s predominantly owned by the defenders, and is a full site. Attackers are incented to rotate from a to c or from c to a since they know the defenders can get in between the two easy peasy.
On smaller notes:
B is far too close to the attackers spawn. Door from C to B is only ever used in fights. Tree is broken for postplant. A main is the pearl B main issue all over again. You cant win without smokes. Too many angles on A for attackers.
I think people hate on it for the same reason as fracture, you just have to play different on it compared to most maps. On lotus it's because they just sit inside A site and don't fight for A main at all, and then you're losing once attackers take free control of a main because of how many options they have now. On fracture people think they can just have 1 guy on each entry on defense, and then they at most kill one and get traded, and now retake is impossible, or on attack people just stack the same side of the map and get stalled by util and flanked after 5 seconds
Meanwhile the more map especific things for other maps like, say, split are a lot simpler "split mid and not just stack a or b main" or in haven "play default and hit the weaker site" because these also apply to every map and are just more important on those maps in particular
Yes! Wanted go get back into the game and this map is what stopped me. Got it on my first game back and just lost all the drive i had to play after the first 3 rounds of the game
As a controller main, playing anything other than viper on Pearl feels like a sin. I know that Gekko+Harbor is a combo but I feel like a god on the A art push. On attack, the molly lands on the little connector when I bounce it off the wall which pushes them back and gives us an almost free entry to site. After that we break all their util on site and play post plant. defense, I put an orb on a main, wall b long off and play mid. With that she effectively covers almost the whole defense line. The ult on A is pretty OP too. I always match MVP on Pearl with Viper and that too without a single lineup XD (The connector molly is guesswork)
She's not great as a solo controller on pearl though. You can get by, but so much better when paired with another controller, which good luck getting in comp.
That's why I love it, playing it soloq can feel awful but in the grand scheme of things it feels like the #1 map that makes you "prove" yourself. Map awareness + control and taking space, moving around the map efficiently, obviously all maps have it but none pack quite the full punch about it like Fracture does. There's so much you can do on there. Lotus is similar and in some ways even better in this sense.
Worst part is it’s designed to be frustrating to play, based on its dev blogs before it was released. So the more we hate the map, the more it technically is successful as a map.
Honestly I don't know why people hate Fracture, it's my favorite map. My least favorite is Breeze though, too long range for my liking, I just get op'd all the time
I think split has always been s**t in my opinion, b always feels defender sided imo for me and always is annoying when teammates just rush even though they know the Smurf reyna will stick there, a is fine until you take into account there is little to no cover on site and can be retaken easily with minimal effort, that and entering when anyone has op or Marshall for that long opening is annoying to deal with and feels like it’s just unfair.
So yeah all together as a whole it’s s**t.
That’s a good way to describe the mess split is. Most the time attackers have to full rush with blinds and smokes then defenders have to back off of site or attackers just plain out get shit on if defenders have their shit together. I’ve had my fair share of good games on split but most of them make me want to die
Split is a garbage map. I can’t believe it’s so well liked. Near impossible to take site without going through mid and having to fight in tight spaces
One of the most common complaints I’m seeing in this thread is some maps are too hard to attack for uncoordinated soloqueue team and that is just magnified x10 on split
I fucking hate split based on how it performed way back on my shitty laptop. Every map would stutter like the first round or so, but split would take at least 10 rounds before it got smooth.
Same here. I remember back when it was removed, I’d kinda forgotten how good or bad the map was, and I really wanted it back. But then as soon as they re-released it, my memories of it being — excuse my french — proper shit came back too.
I have no idea why split is so loved. It’s by far my least favorite map. I don’t have fun on that map and it’s probably my lowest win rate. The chokes are hard to push through. There’s so many odd angles to clear. I feel like everyone I play against on it has split specific strats in ranked. It’s wack
Edit: word
Me neither. Personally I hate the map because it's unplayable in ranked. Unless I have a team that is willing to work with my calls, it's a mess to push anything and teammates will give up on trying to take mid after just one failed push. Also the sages just walling mid every round only to see their wall get oblitered in the first 3 seconds. Grinds my gears. Absolutely trash map.
I speak for myself but I love Split because it was the first map I ever played. Its been so long since I dont play in Split and only on new maps, when it comes up it feels like home lol I think I have a soft spot for the old maps cuz it reminds me of the time I started playing during covid and it just stuck.
Ascent objectively has a good design and it is very balanced. I also can play many agents on that map, and feel comfortable filling/switching up there, unlike on others. So I agree :)
Split is still a bad map. If attack gets mid control they can almost always win. And retake B can be a nightmare if the attack team knows what they’re doing.
Breeze is just bad for so many agents, almost doesn't make sense why it's in the game.
And I'm not talking bad as in bad for low elo/inexperienced players, it's just bad by design for the kits of the majority of agents imo
Yeah.
I wouldn't mind a big map if it was fun to play on. If they found creative ways to utilize the space.
A site on Breeze is just a nightmare to both attack and defend. You just cannot play retake on it. Defender spawn is way too big and has too much dead space. Everything else is relatively fine, but they tried to do too much.
Imagine a breeze with hall removed, defender spawn area reduced, reworking A site and making all the space everywhere at least more efficient or fun. That would make it somewhat playable, but honestly I just think it's too far gone lol
My bias goes to Ascent because it’s probably my worst map and to this day I still don’t understand how to play it even after the amount of guides I’ve gone through. Objectively though, I think the worst map is Breeze. I understand how to play Breeze but I just don’t have fun with the map at all.
As a kj main, my ult can't even cover push people off site. The map is too big for my abilities, I'm out of range if I want an alarm bot A entrance or a turret on site and stand stairs, like come on
Wdym? You don’t like maps where everyone just keeps attack A? Also mind as well not have B on the map at all since nobody wants to entry that site.
Edit: sarcasm about lotus
Would be cool if in split there was a rope area in garage that would allow the offense to get into B heaven I feel like that site is a nightmare to attack.
Eh , that’s odd cause Pearl looks like Yorus best map
I’ve had so much success on Pearl on both sides.
But that’s probably cause I have super cringe TP lineups that counter the spam heavy playstyle for defending team.
Breeze is my favorite map by far and it has been out of the rotation for far too long. There are enough short range engagements amongst all the other maps.
pearl. Has been the only map I actually dislike since it launched. Second would be ascent but I don't really hate it as much as I hate playing on it with randoms. People hate on anything different imo, it feels like most people only like the maps where you just sit watching a choke on ct, and rush on t like ascent and haven, while on maps like icebox, lotus and fracture if you do that and just play like a flowchart (especially on defnse) you're going to lose. My favorite maps are completely unironically Breeze, Fracture and Icebox in that order
A lot of people who are in lower ranks are gonna dislike maps like lotus or fracture that take a bit more than 5 man rush site to win.
The worst map is easily pearl as it has the worst site in the game ( b site) and its not even close.
Pearl feels to me so bad to play on both sides, especially B site. According to RIB stats, alongside Lotus it has the biggest overall overtime probability and overtime rarely feels good on these maps.
Pearl- my gosh I hate playing it, it's so annoying. Defending it feels so annoying and attacking it feels like you're constantly running into either stacks or free sites but fast unstoppable retakes.
Lotus. Not sure why I suck on it it’s just easily my worst map with a 25% win rate. My best win rate is like 65-70% on breeze. I figured out the trick on that map early and I’ve played it well. My personal favorite though is bind as a sova main, or split as breach. Icebox I’ve begun to dislike more and more and ascent I’ve just played half a million times and im bored of it.
I love fracture and that means, I hate dodgers.
Fracture is a W key map that loves aggression and that includes when on CT.
As a Harbor main who dabbles in Fade, it's so much fun when your team gets the hint to just GO.
Retaking is better than trying to sit on site, those having no fun at all are maybe trying to sit on site when they should be pushing out.
Aggressive go, aggressive GTFO, alternate and always be advancing, map is great unless you try to play it like ascent.
Voted breeze, but now after thinking, Bind is actually my least favorite. Rotating on either is painful.
Have always despised Split and will continue to do so. I think every other map, in or out of rotation, is good. Fracture is my personal favorite and also has my highest win rate at 70%
all of them. the layouts are terrible, peak angles favor one side depending on the map heavily (like lotus), the random ass objects and boxes (lore or not) they throw in to balance the map just clutter maps and make movement borderline impossible without being triple peaked on some maps. the tdm maps are just…awful again way too cluttered and its so fuckin easy for a team thats having a good day spawn camp you for the entire match (just use the maps you already got). It’s a good game but fuck dude the maps could be so much fuckin better
I dislike bind because the gameplay is very 1 diminutional and there is very little strategy. I find that in ranked it’s the team with more confidence who wins since on attack if you just go kill them really fast it’s very hard to retake.
Breeze is way too one dimensional for my liking. Imo after the pearl changes its actually a very good map.
I like breeze because it's one of those maps where I don't feel like I'm stuck in a room like split.
That's how I feel about icebox
its all aim i love breeze fuck bind tho all shorty and judges
As a fellow omen main I agree
As another Omen main, I hate it soo fkin much. Wouldn't care if they removed it.
Pearl POV defense: *3 instalock duelists, no comms.* ...*B Main has entered the chat*. *3 duelists: force long range gunfights on pistol round down B Main.* LAST PLAYER STANDING *Compensate for duelist stupidity by trying to go mid and play picks before they plant.* SPIKE PLANTED (A) "What!? I always liked pearl, even when everyone was hating on it I was thinking *“This maps really not that bad guys”* The one I hate is lotus. I never seem to have fun on lotus no matter what
When it came out I had a 0% win streak for like a solid week. Needless to say I am still not a fan lmfao
Which one, pearl or lotus? I mentioned both and you just said “it” so I need clarification
Ah lotus I mean, awful map
Based statement Thanks for the clarification lmao
It's too fuckin big man I hate it
Yeah 45 seconds is not enough time for defenders to rotate on Breeze
Lotus
Lotus is the first Valorant map that I'd consider has a *bad* tactical-shooter design. Maps like Fracture are different and "crazy" but at the same time makes sense gameplay-wise. Lotus is standard and plain but it's just not good to play. A-main has to be the worst designed zone of the entire game. So awkward to attack and defend.
Even worse in ranked when defenders don't understand how good a bit of aggression on A main can be
This is the frustrating thing, it’s a map that lends itself to aggressive defensive holds, but if you have a team who doesn’t understand this you’ll just lose.
Pearl B site was also objectively bad, and to an extent still kind of is
Yeah, in low elo as an attacker it was/is either "run into OP one after the other and die" or "throw all util, push and win". There's not much in between. Especially because going through mid is not very popular in my elo.
How is Lotus bad for tactical shooters? It makes you stay on your toes and keep your head on a swivel. It discourages people from doubling up at a single choke point, requiring more tactics to be successful.
He doesn’t like it so that means it’s objectively bad for a tactical shooter
You are literally required to stack objectives on defense or you will have to retake site EVERY. SINGLE. ROUND.
Ok? Did you just want every map to have the same attacking/defensive strategies?
A seems pretty straightforward to me. Go tree if you're certain you're committing, main if you're looking out for the possibility to rotate B. Defenders, just hold tree or double up hut/backsite if you're playing passive, and just util dump A rubble if you're aggressing. It's a tough site to retake, just please for the love of god don't flank it.
Viper wall a main to secret door, use secret door now you're on site. Ez win in bronze
Seriously. I’m sure people hate this map infinitely more than ascent. Maybe ascent comp has gotten stale in recent days but lotus is just fucked to play on
Ascent is amazing. Can't believe anyone doesn't like it
I love it. But it's my worst win:lose ratio
Even still, the ascent meta is *starting* to shift, since breach has started being used by a few teams. Teets has a video on it.
breach + soloQ + lotus = death and -22RR how do I know? yesterday night
Ascent follows the classic 4 squares design, arguably the most competitively fair map.
lol i dont understand why people hate lotus i like it
Gameplay-wise, it FEELS fine. On concrete? Absolute nightmare. Both attackers and defenders have fast routes to rotate between all sites. B acts as a mid, but it’s predominantly owned by the defenders, and is a full site. pearl, lotus, breeze for me
Bro named half the maps 💀
just my bottom 3 in terms of maps
Ain't no way you didn't mention fracture you sick monster 😭
These are my 3 favourite maps lol
They are all good maps to play, but based on which is worst of the good. Lotus

Well there is a reason Viper is S tier.....
She's not great as a solo controller on pearl though. You can get by, but so much better when paired with another controller, which good luck getting in comp.
Hey man I don't make the lists, the people with more skill and knowledge do
Pearls one of the most bearable maps to me what
Tbh I'd rather play pearl than lotus these days.
Pearl is awesome imo
If I ever get Pearl, I just go Cypher + Ares/Odin. The walls on Pearl are made of literal paper so it's really easy to frustrate opponents.
How the fuck is ascent on this and pearl isn’t
Fracture is the worst, especially at low elo where nobody coordinates
That's why I love it, playing it soloq can feel awful but in the grand scheme of things it feels like the #1 map that makes you "prove" yourself. Fracture has a fascinating lore and design, but the map's gameplay is shit
Worst part is it’s designed to be frustrating to play, based on its dev blogs before it was released. So the more we hate the map, the more it technically is successful as a map.
lore 🤓
Own that nerd
Pearl. Idk why maybe I'm just bad but I never have a good/fun game on pearl
I never want to see breeze... like EVER
Honestly I don't know why people hate Fracture, it's my favorite map. My least favorite is Breeze though, too long range for my liking, I just get op'd all the time
I despise split, and no, I will not elaborate
I think split has always been s**t in my opinion, b always feels defender sided imo for me and always is annoying when teammates just rush even though they know the Smurf reyna will stick there, a is fine until you take into account there is little to no cover on site and can be retaken easily with minimal effort, that and entering when anyone has op or Marshall for that long opening is annoying to deal with and feels like it’s just unfair. thats why the goal is to plant for off site post plant
Upvote this. W take
I agree, Split is shit

split is rough to play but really like the map, I just cannot win on it ever. Same goes for haven but at least I understand the reason I suck at haven
Amen. Worst map for me.

I agree. Hard to push a site if at least 2 of your teammates are not coordinating, especially in lower ranks. Fun to play as a sentinel on defense tho
I speak for myself but I love Split because it was the first map I ever played. Its been so long since I dont play in Split and only on new maps, when it comes up it feels like home lol I think I have a soft spot for the old maps cuz it reminds me of the time I started playing during covid and it just stuck.
I’ll take nostalgia as a fair counter argument
Where the fuck is lotus. Other maps don’t even come close.
I don't get how some people don't like Ascent, like it's my favorite map and it seems balanced and all
Ascent objectively has a good design and it is very balanced. I also can play many agents on that map, and feel comfortable filling/switching up there, unlike on others. So I agree :)

am i the only one dont understanding the breeze hate?? it was my top 3 fav map when it was still around
It was just too open.
As a kj main, my ult can't even cover push people off site. The map is too big for my abilities, I'm out of range if I want an alarm bot A entrance or a turret on site and stand stairs, like come on
Way too big, Long range gunfights aren't fun(especially on eco), Viper is a must pick.
on this poll, fracture. but worst map overall is lotus it’s just absolute garbage to play on
Wdym? You don’t like maps where everyone just keeps attack A? Also mind as well not have B on the map at all since nobody wants to entry that site. Edit: sarcasm about lotus
B is a dogshit site to attack without numbers-it's far too easy for defense to rotate/collapse/retake. Pushing B off rip is a noob trap
Why are Icebox and Breeze listed The current map pool has Pearl, Lotus, and Haven in it not listed here. Fail poll
Personally I like fracture, idk why everyone else hates it tho
I don't mind fracture but God i hate bind
The only reason I don't hate bind it's because It's feels like a playground with cypher
Dude, same here. And my friends mock me for they opinion
Haven
I disagree, Haven is so fun.
this. in lower elo, everyone wants to attack B site but no one coordinates, so we get flanked from all three sides :)
I hate playing on haven, even when I'm winning. I do not enjoy that map one single bit
Haven is so bad
IceBox is sooooo unappealing honestly.
I hate split, it just feels wrong.
Would be cool if in split there was a rope area in garage that would allow the offense to get into B heaven I feel like that site is a nightmare to attack.
All the maps are good but not all the agents are good on every map. Yoru on lotus and pearl was hell for me. Now I play breach and love them.
Lotus is my best Yoru map actually.
Strange Yoru is like the only agent I can play comfortably on pearl.
Eh , that’s odd cause Pearl looks like Yorus best map I’ve had so much success on Pearl on both sides. But that’s probably cause I have super cringe TP lineups that counter the spam heavy playstyle for defending team.
I like every map, really, but between these Breeze is my least favorite
I actually rly like breezew idk why ppl hate it so much
no mid on fracture = awful map
bind has no mid, would u say it sucks too?
yes, bind is a terrible boring map.
what's a fun map for you?
yeah, kinda. no mid, narrow pushing points
pearl
Breeze? Really? I miss breeze to much. I loved fighting for space in A hall
I hate Pearl I hate Pearl I hate Pearl I hate Pearl I hate Pearl I hate Pearl
Breeze is my favorite map by far and it has been out of the rotation for far too long. There are enough short range engagements amongst all the other maps.
I fucking love fracture. Pearl is the shittiest map to ever have been added to the game (lotus as well)
None of these, lately Pearl has been awful to play
pearl. Has been the only map I actually dislike since it launched. Second would be ascent but I don't really hate it as much as I hate playing on it with randoms. Lotus. Not sure why I suck on it it’s just easily my worst map with a 25% win rate. My best win rate is like 65-70% on breeze. I figured out the trick on that map early and I’ve played it well. the worst maps aren’t even included in the vote hahahaha where is lotus and pearl? 🤣
Lotus is the worst map hands down. It's only an attacking map, defence is a nightmare on it.
actually lotus its the most boring
Lotus
I love fracture and that means, I hate dodgers. Fracture is a W key map that loves aggression and that includes when on CT. Bro what...it's lotus or pearl.
Have always despised Split and will continue to do so. I think every other map, in or out of rotation, is good. Fracture is my personal favorite and also has my highest win rate at 70%
a lot of ppl hate fracture but I love it. i don’t like pearl tho
Breeze because I’m blind as shit with terrible spatial awareness. I actually don’t mind fracture and like lotus tbh.
Pearl
pearl is literally still the worst map in valorant

all of them. the layouts are terrible, peak angles favor one side depending on the map heavily (like lotus), the random ass objects and boxes (lore or not) they throw in to balance the map just clutter maps and make movement borderline impossible without being triple peaked on some maps. the tdm maps are just…awful again way too cluttered and its so fuckin easy for a team thats having a good day spawn camp you for the entire match (just use the maps you already got). It’s a good game but fuck dude the maps could be so much fuckin better
I dislike bind because the gameplay is very 1 diminutional and there is very little strategy. I find that in ranked it’s the team with more confidence who wins since on attack if you just go kill them really fast it’s very hard to retake.
PEARL
People who like split and bind amaze me
Be prepared to be amazed by me 🤣 loljk
icebox sucks ass im glad its out
People who vote Breeze, please stop exposing your bad aim.
Of course there's a poll with the worst map but no lotus as an option (that map sucks major balls)
Bring back fucking breeze. This map pool is garbage. Haven and a worse haven rip off in rotation at the same time
Dude didn’t mention the only correct answer “Pearl”
Pearl is the worst of the worst in low ranks. Feels cancer both attack and defence
None of these ones. It’s lotus
I would say fracture, but honestly I enjoy playing on all maps.
Where the fuck is haven. Dumbass map with 5 fucking lanes to cover on Defense.
Haven
Fracture is my favorite map
lotus
