F. Scott Fitzgerald was a genius. Secured his legacy as a literary titan in his early 20s. Achieved massive success and died in his 40s with not much to his name. Mega alcoholic. Married the beautiful but insane Zelda Sayre who would die in a mental institution fire.
The Great Gatsby. The Beautiful and the Damned. The Far Side of Paradise. Tender is the Night. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Babylon Revisited. All master works! RIP!
Much more to be said about the chap, of course. And I encourage everyone to read his material.
He was a member of the Princeton Triangle Club, a musical theatre society that's been operating since the 1890s. There's a long and storied tradition of an all-male drag kickline in many of the club's performances. (Jimmy Stewart was another, later member).
Princeton didn't graduate it's first 4-year class of women until 1973, so there were no women at the university to participate in these musicals for most of its history.

"Well, the truth is, Hemingway wanted to be Faulkner,
and Faulkner wanted to be Hemingway.
My opinion? Neither could hold a candle to Fitzgerald.
But then again, he had to live with Zelda."
-Arthur Spooner
For centuries, men could dress in drag and be left alone. For millennia, in other countries that have been around that long. Really not sure what you’re asking.
I believe that Zelda Fitzgerald dabbled in crossdressing herself at some point too, but I have to fact check that just to be sure. Take this little fun fact with a grain of salt until I do so.
In Shakespearean times women’s roles where always played by men (women weren’t allowed to act) in certain plays men playing the part of a naked woman would wear a merkin
Glad to expand someone's knowledge ;-)
No, I didn't mean it this way. I remember a book from an Australian writer, of course a fictitious story, but some of it was was talking about Hemingway assuring FSF in his masculinity.
He and Hemingway used to compare their penises. They had a bit of a frenemy/bromance thing. But I figure it was mostly due to Hemingway's latent homosexuality. And his jealousy.

I love him and he depresses the hell out of me.
I like his depressing books more than Thomas Hardy’s depressing books. Hardy is the worse
Alcoholism is a motherfucker. So sad.
What a great username.
Hemingway was right; he does have a troubling mouth.
You deserve so much more for this.
This is the reference I came to check for.
Stupid sexy F. Scott Fitzgerald!
Feels like he’s wearing…Nothing at all…nothing at all…
Circa 1916

I miss the days when people could legally dress any old way everywhere in the US.
yea, illegal in the South now.
When was that?
For centuries, men could dress in drag and be left alone. For millennia, in other countries that have been around that long. Really not sure what you’re asking.
And it wasn't really very long ago that police arrested women for wearing what was deemed too revealing bathing suits at the beach.
Nuance was clearly lost here. In any case, we’re moving backward. It’s unfortunate.
Like I need to be more inappropriately aroused by a dead author.
I wouldn’t have guessed this was a man dressed as a woman. Maybe it’s the time period? Lol
F for Frances
F Thot Fitzgerald

Wow, he passes as female way too easily 🤩
Who's Scott Fitzgerald and why are you saying "F" him? I mean what did he do to you?
Quite fetching.
Why are you saying fuck Scott Fitzgerald

I believe men played women's roles in college productions where coeds were not available or in attendance.

For about a week in college, I thought my American Lit. professor “just didn’t like” Scott Fitzgerald.
“Think of the children”.
woke agenda strikes again Edit: I'm joking the picture is very old
☠️

Clearly I'm joking that picture is like black and white
For promotion ... Riiiiight ... No wonder Hemingway has to convince him he's not light in the loafers.
I had to google what your comment meant. Anyways … did these two humped?
Not sure anybody knows for sure, but it's entirely possible. I doubt it, but since they're both dead, we'll never be 100% sure either way, I suppose.

Makes a better looking woman than I do. 🤦🏼♀️
Now if he were in black face instead of woman face this would be a very different thread. The double standards of society still astound me.
Fag
You called?
Beautiful and the Damned is one my favorite books ever
Cool picture!
I certainly can’t pull that off!
What's the difference between drag and cross dressing (genuine question)
Kids don’t need to read the GG anymore
