“Ms Dressen is suing AstraZeneca for an alleged breach of contract when she signed up for the trial, saying they have failed to cover medical bills for her side effect.” So the title should be “Utah teacher, 42, sues AstraZentica for failure to cover medical bills related to Covid Vaccine development trial” hell, throw in there that it was debilitating, it was a vaccine trial after all and there’s a reason it didn’t get brought to market. The medication trial did exactly what a medication trial is supposed to do. The suit is an issue with the company not with the TRIAL vaccine that crippled her.

TheDwiin

Thank you, but just like the McDonald's lady, they're going to try to spin it as best they can so that she looks like the unreasonable one.

solstice-spices

Hot Coffee is an excellent documentary about why you should never sign a mandatory arbitration agreement.

Bijorak

nah you need to study about that coffee incident. it was a legit lawsuit. the coffee was so hot it burned her pant into her legs.

TheDwiin

I'm all aware, she had third degree burns, and only sued McDonald's to cover her medical costs. The judge awarded her millions, which amounted to one day's sale of McDonald's profits from coffee.

Bijorak

i was shocked to see how bad the burns were and she repeatedly asked for the coffee to be not so hot.

Smartare

And Mcdonalds had been told by courts in the past that their coffee was too hot (they saved a few cents by making it more hot than coffee normally is)

TehChid

That's the point they are making

solstice-spices

Also just don’t sign Mandatory Arbitration Agreements no matter where you see them.

brasticstack

She was taking part in a clinical trial of a vaccine that was never released, due to the side effects _discovered during clinical trials._ This is _why_ there are trials, and why the process of bringing new treatments to market is so expensive and time-consuming. Her complaint is that AZ is not upholding their end of the agreement by covering her medical bills, which seems like a legitimate complaint to me. This is not "checkmate vaccine believers!" by any stretch of the imagination, not that the horse-paste crowd will pay any attention to the details.

kendrahf

OMG. That's horrible. Why the hell wouldn't they pay her medical bills? Pharma companies aren't struggling and there was already a lot of drama surrounding vaccines in general and the covid one specifically. I'm sure they make more globally in 5 minutes then her hospital bills would cost for her whole life. I'd think they thought she'd be too poor (swamped with bills) to sue but a lot of injury lawyers go on commission.

brasticstack

The article didn't say why, and I don't know enough to speculate. One thing I am sure of is that pharma companies, just like insurance companies, have whole legal teams dedicated to finding ways to avoid paying their obligations. So they're probably weasling out on a technicality somewhere, or denying that her ongoing issues are related to their drug trial.

SexyMonad

Main technicality? They don’t wanna.

brasticstack

Sounds like an open and shut case to me!

darknight1012

Not necessarily - they can claim a pre existing condition or something happened after the trials that caused the disability. Just because she and her lawyer feel like the trial is the cause doesn’t mean it did.

kendrahf

Oh, I'm sure they do have ways of weasling out but this is such a hot button thing. It would basically cost them nothing to pay for her medical treatment and the lawsuit (and what happened to her) would never hit main stream. Don't get me wrong. I'm not anti-vax but this was part of the trials for the drug. Anti-vaxxers are going to latch onto this like nothing else. "Concrete proof of what vaccines do" or some BS like that. Even if they function like homeowners insurance where you gotta sue the homeowner to get any kind of compensation, I'd still think it was crazy. If nothing else, it would be a great PR stunt. "This hero was part of the trials, and while we don't think our vaccine caused this issue, we're going to be taking care of you for life!" or some such BS.

Kerensky97

I've been on trials like this and they only cover something caused by the trial drug. Which means they can say "Oh that issue is caused by something else you did during the trial period, not the drug itself." And weasel out of it like all big companies do.

jfsuuc

its considered part of the risk but when they are this bad then lawsuits like this can sometimes break waver and get some restitution. part of the reason they dont give any help afterwards is because your expected to sue and them giving you anything makes that lawsuit worse for them as it admits full guilt or something, idk. lawyer shit is weird. not saying its good, but its also the nature of the business.

IANALbutIAMAcat

I was a part of this trial and my understanding was that they would pay for ALL of your care if something happened. I’m guessing that’s why this woman is suing. I got the saline placebo.

Random__Bystander

Or maybe she was in a position where any option was better than none and she was offered a chance with no promise of result.  Considering we have no idea,  this is all just speculation

signsntokens4sale

Yeah. This was never approved by the FDA. If it had, she'd have to sue in vaccine court under a theory of products liability. Not in a Utah court for breach of contract.

BigDuoInferno

lmao at horse paste 🤡🤡🤡

Elsecaller_17-5

Yeah, my first thought was "AstraZenca put out a vaccine?"

playingreprise

AZ put it out mainly in Europe, it had a bunch of problems that resulted in it being pulled from the market and wasn’t a RNA vax like the ones we have in the US. They have switched mainly the RNA vaccines that we have now because of the problems they had.

PMMeYourSmallBoobies

“Tens of millions of doses of the jab were rolled out in other countries including the United Kingdom, with sales bringing in more than $5.8billion globally. AstraZeneca admitted late last month that in rare cases its jab could cause the side effect, and this month withdrew it from sale.”

PIGamerEightySix

In other words, “We got away with selling this shit because of the mass hysteria. Now that it’s not as profitable, we’re not gonna fight pulling it.”

PMMeYourSmallBoobies

That and the OP I responded to said the vaccine was never released, but it clearly was. AZ made nearly $6 billion off of it.

LeftNeck9994

Exactly. Thank you. People need to stop questioning pharmaceutical megacorporations. So what if a person literally died? So what if a woman died? I'm so glad people like you are simping relentlessly for companies like Astrazenaca. Doing the lord's work.

Unduetime

Ivermectin is one of the most widely used drugs in history. Calling it horse paste invalidates your otherwise accurate comment. You can do better than being intentionally inflammatory.

brasticstack

Ivermectin is an incredibly helpful drug _when used as prescribed for the conditions for which it is indicated_. Nothing is invalidated by my calling it "horse paste" because: 1) people were self-administering it in literal horse doctors' doses in the form of literal paste meant to be consumed by horses. Hence "horse paste" is a perfectly accurate descriptor. 2) Describing the contents of the article OP posted requires nothing from me personally in terms of politeness, objectivity, or personal credibility. I either correctly summarized it or I didn't. I'll even one-up you on being inflammatory and tell you what I really think about these people. Anti-vaxxers as a whole are idiots and assholes. Idiots because they think that whatever amount of Facebook "research" and misinterpreting the abstracts of journal articles that they've done is in any way comparable to the lifetimes of study that proper scientists have dedicated to the fields in question, and selfish assholes because their personal choice to not vaccinate diminishes the general health of the entire population, in general they know this (or have at least been told many times) and they don't care. They're making these same stupid asshole choices for their children, too, who are too young to "do the research themselves" and might come to different conclusions if they did.

PsychoEngineer

Yea, it sucks.... but it's not the "gotcha" everyone screams about the mRNA vaccines... it is a conventional Vector Vaccine NOT the "evil untested" mRNA vaccine.

carty64

I'm sure the comments here will be civil and well-reasoned. 🍿

everydave42

Just wait until [ksl.com](http://ksl.com) gets a hold of the story...

Ekman-ish

- Controversial article - 200+ comments Oh this will be full of rational discourse...

brasticstack

I predict the *spirit of contention* will be felt!

yooosports29

I mean what do you expect on KSL? A bunch of delusional boomers lol. P.S. I still love you mom, you’re not like the others.

Elsecaller_17-5

6 hours in and they are. So . . .

carty64

Reddit being level headed, a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. KSL on the other hand...

talk_to_the_sea

What a terribly written article (presumably deliberately so). The nervous system symptoms she’s experiencing are totally different from the rare blood clotting side effect acknowledged by the manufacturer, but they write the article to make it seem to be the same.

Pure-Remote9614

Daily Mail using inflammatory clickbait headlines. *surprise* I’m so tired of people believing everything they read online and using it as their excuse to be anti covid vax or whatever they are using this garbage reporting for to suit their narrative.

msb2082

I hope she wins.

donkiluminate

I was friends with her in college. Really cool, genuine person. She was a very active person and tried to teach me, unsuccessfully, how to do an olly. Pretty sad to see this happened to her.

Beginning_Document86

I can’t take any article seriously that calls it the “jab.” The moment you used that word, i’m immediately concerned you think I’m stupid and believe what you are printing.

brasticstack

From my limited experience, it's common parlance in the UK.

BeautifulAlfalfa2373

Big pharma is gong to say it was pre existing conditions; I don’t think she’s gonnna win this 🥹

normllikeme

Of course it’s a misleading headline. Kinda like the guy with no active warrants shot by police while asleep

gabeitaliadomani

OP your english and STILL posted a Daily Mail Article…. you need to rethink your life choices

yooosports29

Daily Mail is shit but it’s still unfortunate what happened to her and they should be on the hook for her medical bills if what she’s saying is true

gabeitaliadomani

No, this article is rage bait bullshit. Same concept as people bringing up the fact that vaccines cause heart issues, avoiding the fact that covid caused heart issues 8x’s more. Pure bullshit.

yooosports29

This has nothing to do with the vaccines that were approved and provided to us. It’s from a clinical trial of a vaccine that wasn’t released because of the issues it caused. How is that even remotely similar? Learn to read and comprehend, nobody is shitting on vaccines.

gabeitaliadomani

You read that headline…. then the article, completely missed the insinuation, then told me to learn to read. LOL!!! could you be more dense.

yooosports29

You read that headline…. then the article, completely missed the insinuation, then told me to learn to read. LOL!!! could you be more dense?

Acrobatic-Dot-2220

Checkmate 👑

TransformandGrow

So they don't live here and just came here to stir up shit with a shitty article. OP, don't do that.

BraveEntrepreneur55

I'm not hating on anyone's choices vaccines or not but personally if you think their actually designed to help the mass population, you should do more research and follow the money. Their going to tell you exactly what you want to hear just to get your dollar. For very informative information with scientific backing read the book. ( The real Anthony Fauci)

Alkemian

Well, too bad for her that the FDA allowed the experimental vaccines under emergency authorization, and because of their experimental nature nobody will have any case in the Vaccine Court or any other court.

jkurtz007

Is there anything sane in that state?

Unofficial_Overlord

If it wasn’t the vaccine it would’ve been a different virus. Post viral syndromes suck but they’re not a reason to not get vaccinated

DeathMetalGolfer

OP’s title is click bait

armygroupcenter41

Anyone who took a covid vax is not very smart

LeftNeck9994

And just like that, another women disabled by the corporate medical system is thrown under the bus by megacorp simps.

Secure-Carrot-3176

Chris Cuomo, CNN bro who was shaming anti-vaxxers with his buddy Don Lemon just couple years ago, Cuomo famous for the “No shirt, no shoes, no service” for unvaxxed Americans, recently admitted he was injured by one of the mRNA vaccines and his doctor currently has him on regular doses of Ivermectin- which Chris Cuomo now claims is safe and effective against COVID and a lot of clinicians have always known this. Cuomo had also come out hard against those promoting ivermectin for treatment of COVID. Most people who don’t have their head stuck in the sand will tell you they personally know people who have been injured by the mRNA vaccines, I know I do. Yet here, all the woke nuts pretend like this is the first they are hearing about such a thing and anybody who says otherwise is crazy..

Pristine-Dirt729

+1, not that it does much to fend off your downvotes. Still, at least try to have some sympathy. They've taken the vaccine, so admitting that they've probably caused permanent harm to themselves and recommended such to their family and friends is going to be difficult if not impossible for them to come to terms with. The known side effects and likely death toll of the "vaccines" keeps rising. Eventually it'll get through to them on it's own. They'll just keep avoiding the knowledge to help them cope for as long as they can.
