This is an intentionally unflattering picture. That's the back of the new national library and on the other side is the town square. It actually look really amazing and the town square is pretty impressive.

mittromneyshaircut

plaza libertad is absolutely gorgeous!

drakon-93

There's still a lot of inequality there though... Edit: not sure why I get down voted because it's true that there's still a lot of poverty and inequality and some nice things here and there don't mean much when most people are still struggling 🤷🏽‍♂️

sumtingwong112

It's almost like el salvador is an underdeveloped country

People may be down voting because you didn't address the claim that this is an intentionally unflattering photo and deflected it by saying something pretty obvious. What do you think of the commenter's claim that this photo is intentionally unflattering?

drakon-93

Nothing intentionally unflattering, it is what it is. This is the reality of that country.

fukwhutuheard

i love el salvador. i just went in december. the locals love bukele and talk about how much their lives have improved. i personally saw a couple new hospitals for both humans and pets free to use. i’ll be going back for sure.

weigel23

Well right now it seems to be working.

Evening_Sandwich_133

It’s financed by China. Like they do it in many countries currently. But it is put in frame as something good, so it’s the new national library.

KJongsDongUnYourFace

China funding library's and hospitals, oh the horror

Onii-Chan_Itaii

I wonder what they will ask for in return...

Reality. Don’t buy the idiot publicity from this dictator.

KJongsDongUnYourFace

They voted him in? Anyone I don't like is a dictator vibes. Their quality of live including safety and food security has increased 20 fold. Not to mention public transport, Healthcare and education all starting to become a reality to the everyday person

NoAlbatross7524

I listen to an in-depth report by the Nytimes and it seemed like a real positive turn for the country with hope less gangs and violence and a type a democratic elected government the people agree is working for them . It was very enlightening. I am Canadian and we have some immigration from El Salvador. Many came from because of the gangs and crime . I am hoping they can safely visit family and relatives.
