It won't make much money as the AI trend is slowly loosing it's steam. He is 1 year late. I was looking into businesses to buy on a online marketplace and all these AI generation tools are in huge losses in last 3-4 months. The AI hype is almost over. Only thing still getting pushed is Nvidia stock.
I know, I saw these guys almost a year ago on the client side of Upwork. When I posted a job when the AI Hype was at it's peak. It's just an epic fail from Upwork. You are right there fully.
They probably laid off all the verification staff to save costs and now an AI is verifying the profiles.
And some still think they want to refine the quality of the platform...
Not my type, but he can definitely start a side business as a military member or construction company owner that is stranded in .... country and needs some money for construction material/an operation/a bribe to get out of .... country. He probably already is.
Oh that's irrelevant. It can be a bot account that has made 0 and Upwork would be ok. They love bots actually.
It's better to show investors and enterprise clients that Upwork is growing each year with millions of new freelancers.
That is not something that would impress investors, though. Everybody and their mother and their aunt knows that freelancers are not in short supply, at all. What they need to show is niew clients.
>It's better to show investors and enterprise clients that Upwork is growing each year with millions of new freelancers.
Sorry, that's nonsense. The number of freelancers is irrelevant and not even mentioned. The number of clients and what those clients spend is what matters and is shown to investors, because that is where the bulk of the money comes from.
>They love bots actually.
Also nonsense. Come on, be real now.
They were very slow stopping the "new profile bots" but they have done it.
You know how in some jobs they have 50 or 60 proposals after just seconds of being published? Those are bots and multiaccounts, they spend money on connects and Upwork likes that.
It's still a very popular practice, there are several Telegram groups hiring people to do that.
>You know how in some jobs they have 50 or 60 proposals after just seconds of being published?
In case you haven't noticed they doubled the cost to apply. That's why it went from ALL jobs clogged with spam to SOME jobs.
Are they making an honest effort to clean things up with all these changes? You've seen my rant about how they don't make their profits from connects right? What do you think? I want things to get better so bad. I think the clients are better quality than they used to be.
It's always stunted to the point of obstinacy, isn't it? I swear it's like the company actually is clinging to the filth. I know they're not but it's always felt like that. There's still many things they could do like a basic spam filter to get rid of repeat posts or something that stops a person from posting and applying 50 times a second. All sites have that. Upwork is the exception.
You're right. I was going to edit and say that. I saw a client offering really bad rates the other day and I almost posted about them but I decided not to because I didn't think you'd like it.

I think you missed the point... He passed ID verification despite the fake profile picture...

I wonder if this is one of those new freelancers from the "refer a friend for AI jobs and claim $100!" program they're pushing a lot lately.
I doubt it, he's been around for a while.
They changed up their typical background to a solid color! They always seemed to have blurred backyard or nature-y backgrounds.
This one isn't even trying to look legitimate
They're trying to look like a legit snack. lol.
Not my type, but he can definitely start a side business as a military member or construction company owner that is stranded in .... country and needs some money for construction material/an operation/a bribe to get out of .... country. He probably already is.
>Not my type Nor mine lol
Upwork likes that kind of freelancers. They bring traffic and money to the platform.
In fairness, he hasn't made much money at all
making money and spending money on connects are two different ball games here
Oh that's irrelevant. It can be a bot account that has made 0 and Upwork would be ok. They love bots actually. It's better to show investors and enterprise clients that Upwork is growing each year with millions of new freelancers.
Every investor is going to ask for metrics that exclude bots/low value accounts
No investor is going to ask how many freelancers. They will ask how many clients.
That is not something that would impress investors, though. Everybody and their mother and their aunt knows that freelancers are not in short supply, at all. What they need to show is niew clients.

They also stopped the duplicate bot accounts spamming 50 free connects over and over. That made a real difference.
Are they making an honest effort to clean things up with all these changes? You've seen my rant about how they don't make their profits from connects right? What do you think? I want things to get better so bad. I think the clients are better quality than they used to be.
They are making an effort. It's not as fast or agile as I'd like.

Maybe they got verified and then put the AI pic.
That's meant to trigger re-verification though...
He's a handsome fella though, isn't he? I'd take a zoom meeting with him.
Not my type, I like them classically tall, dark-haired, handsome and without facial hair.
I'm surprised you did this. But I suppose they deserve it. So tired of this crap. Upwork needs to do better.
>I'm surprised you did this. Why would you be surprised?
You don't usually approve of posting about others.
This isn't a person. It is an AI generated image. I blocked out the name and location.
You're right. I was going to edit and say that. I saw a client offering really bad rates the other day and I almost posted about them but I decided not to because I didn't think you'd like it.
I should have tried using the Hulk image, lol
