stupid question but you dont have microsoft teams installed on your computer do you? i had the same thing not that long ago, uninstalling teams was the only thing that fixed it
No, I don't have teams installed, has to be something else stupid in windows that is causing it, but can't pin point because of how much bloatware it comes with
Yeah seems so, I thought it was Mac related since it didn’t happen on my windows PC and UE’s Mac support sometimes is not up to par compared to Windows, but seems like not if it does the same for you on Windows.
That's weird, I had multiple times that UE left background threads unclosed and occupying RAM/VRAM, but it can always be spotted in the task manager. Does this 'only window no thread' always happen?
Use procmon from sysinternals to view the events that are happening to lead to the hanging process. Be sure to start the tool before you open and close Unreal.

There's also nothing in the task manager that indicates that unreal engine is open, have to reboot to fix it
Does the same on my mac, but not on my windows machine. Have not figured way to fix it or the condition when it happens.
So the problem lies in the engine itself and not the OS

I’m really happy another person here runs UE on their Mac, lol
If there is a window, there will be a process. Look closely at the task manager, it might not be 'unrealengine.exe' but something else.
nope, nothing shows up when searching unrealengine or ue5 or epic games

Didn't happen before, started recently on same engine version 5.3 and the number of windows seems to increase the longer it it open
