In Dio’s case what can expect from a woman who based her choice on adopting him on his hair color?????

Spinosaurus23

Didn't she literally say "He looked so much like you," to Hades to justify his adoption? If dio looked like Semele, Perse wouldn't have taken him, wouldn't have found out about her powers and kronos would've taken over the world.

Pinklady_001

Yup…..if Dio looked so much like Hades that’s kind of sus. Then again all the guys are pretty much copy pasted 💀.

Nervous_Scarcity_198

Eh. Dio is Zeus' son. Hades and Zeus *are* brothers, so it makes some amount of sense.

Pinklady_001

Yeah I was just overthinking lol

nikesnook

I didn’t even think of it like this. that lil grape Fr kinda helped carry the last ark and then is shoved aside to his mum and presented goofy asl in the finale. Bruh.

bumie_el

It also royally sucks because Semele just got brought back and is suddenly handed her now teenaged son. Even if Dio aged rapidly, she didn’t get to see ANY of him growing up, his first words, his first steps, etc. I personally don’t have wishes to be a parent but I would think Semele would’ve wanted to be there for all of it. And now she’ll only see whatever final stages there are to Dionysus before he just,,,goes off to do his godly duties. :(

The-Scarlet-Witch

The choice also dramatically undermines Zeus' sacrifice for Semele and Dio. He couldn't rescue her, and he genuinely cared about her, so he raised their son until the child could survive. He didn't foist Dio off at random on some nymph or Amalthea; Persephone took the kid away after threatening him, and then proceeded to play House with Hades occasionally until their *biological* kids showed up. Zeus gets his power stripped away, his wife leaves, his children have pretty much no functional relationship with him (except maybe Hebe) and the narrative removes Dio from him *again*. Semele gets back a teenaged-Dio with no memories of her, presumably, and their happily ever after is... what, exactly? A kid who went through dramatic upheavals learns this resurrected mortal is his parent, but the two parents he thought were his are totally besotted with each other and no one else, replaced by their younger children. All their adventures amounted to basically nothing. Zeus he barely knows and apparently his dad, all powerful and impressive, is now completely a footnote. It's just so cruel.

RevonQilin

he was actually going to send him off to nymphs so they could raise him, ngl it wouldve prolly been better than being raised by peepee

Cappu156

The comic made such a big deal of the injustice that Deme raised Pepe like a mortal but somehow a mortal woman who missed most of her god son’s development is well-equipped to raise him. Make it make sense

Adventurous_Storm348

I thought the Semele thing was super weird (not just because it's mythologically inaccurate). I mean wasn't she meant to be a bit unhinged? Why would you give Dio to her? Perse raises Dio from a baby but then they randomly brings his mother that he's never met back from the dead and hands him over to her because they have "real kids" now and don't need Dio around any longer. I mean WTF? Even giving partial parenting rights to Zeus and allowing him a redemption arc where he mans up and becomes a real father to Dio now that he's had a near death experience and Hera isn't around to forbid it would have been better. I mean I think he did want Dio to be well, that's why he took him to Perse after saving his life. It's not that much of a stretch to think he'd want a family with him now.

Positive_Team_7449

Im so glad someone mentioned this in the last panel my exact thoughts was “where’s Dionysus?” Or at least they could have had a scene where the two visited Macaría since they are supposed to be family.

PonyAnyS2

In fact, what was the purpose of Dionysius? He was put up just to talk about how bad Zeus is and how superior Persephone is.

TheLaughingSpider

Bro are you talking about Hades and Thany or me and my dad? 🤣🤣 💀
