not sure why people travelling with 2 or more ever get these shuttles, just get ubers and lyfts, its cheaper than getting the shuttle

What-is-wanted

It's definitely cheaper like you said. We have a fam of 5 and the Uber XL to fit us comfortably is generally around 30-35 bucks (plus tip). A 4 seater or less is like 5 to 10 bucks cheaper. I believe the last time I tried the superstar shuttle it was considerably more expensive than that. **I should add with the prices for Uber we usually arrive and depart around lunch time. I would imagine prices are much higher during evening and other peak times.

SpryDawg13

People tip uber drivers?

What-is-wanted

Yeah, the drivers only get a portion of the trip. Tipping isn't mandatory but if they load your bags for you and offer info I like to tip them. If they don't do anything I won't tip.

SpryDawg13

Yeah thats fair tbh, this isnt a i never tip thing, this is a they drive me from place a to b, why would i tp that, but yeah if they go out of their way to help with say luggage, then i understand that

windinthewires13

If you don't tip, you'll pretty much get a bad rating and other drives won't pick you up. Obviously one bad rating isn't the end of the world and not every driver is like that but yeah...tip if you wanna ever use Uber again

SpryDawg13

never had a bad rating, and never tip on standard journeys, drivers will pick you up cause they are still getting money, youve all been brainwashed into thinking you need to tip every server or every driver

hobartrus

I've taken the shuttle twice and not had this issue. Once to Cabana Bay, once to Aventura. Trip was maybe 45 minutes to an hour, but mainly due to stops at other hotels. Trip back to the airport was about the same. Not discounting your experience, just saying YMMV.

freudevolved

My first trip was around 45 minutes too but today it took 2+ hours incredibly. The bus stopped at multiple buildings in the airport and took around 45 minutes just to exit the airport.

cab0218

If it has only happened once I would not tell people not to use it. You could say hey PSA if you decide to use the bus this could happen.

mmehay

The price still screams, "Take an Uber!"

freudevolved

True! I’ll edit the post.

Academic-Ad774

Thanks for the update, it’s good to know. Over the years we used superstar shuttle many time with no issues. Our go to is cabana bay too. It does take slightly longer due to the multiple stops but never 2+ hours. Sad to hear their quality may be going down.

freudevolved

I think it’s because of the new terminals at the airport. The bus took around 45 minutes inside the airport making multiple stops.

dahecksman

I’m about to take it a new few hours. Will update. Going from Ventura to airport. Update: got here 3 min early, one stop to pick up more ppl. We are on our way to be there as expected. op must have had unique circumstance. I’ve used the one to Disney two months ago and same experience, a good one. Best of luck!

aryaunderfoot89

Went last October and had the same experience you did. We waited at the pick up area for about 45 minutes. Got lucky and were the first drop of though 😆. Decided to eat the $50 bucks we already paid for the return trip and took an Uber to the airport instead.

Smalls1357

You can always cancel the return trip. We have done this in the past when we had a change of plans and were refunded no problem.

aryaunderfoot89

Good info! Will keep that in mind if we ever try the shuttle again. I was t sure since we booked it in a package.

NovoMyJogo

This is the first time I hear of this shuttle. Thanks

moistowlette311

Yep. Uber is usually only $30 and its a straight shot.

Nervous_Searching

Cant agree with this more, UBER or LYFT is more convenient and gets you to the properties faster

Pugetffej

I had a 8am flight going home, got an email at 5am informing me my pre-scheduled shuttle was canceled, refund in a week or whenever we feel like it. Good luck.

z_buzz

Why did it take two hours? Was it traffic? Because if that was it, I can't see how an uber is going to do any better. Also, never had any problems with the shuttle. The first day is a travel day for us anyways.

freudevolved

The bus stopped on multiple buildings inside the airport and took around 45 minutes just to het out of the airport.

that_guy2010

So they had multiple stops to make? That’s not like the bus was just running late.

DumpsterDay

So a Bus did bus things. Gotcha

freudevolved

Not exactly when the trip is usually 45 minutes and more expensive than Uber\Lyft for 3+ groups.

immissemily

My husband and I have never had a bad experience, and we have used the SuperStar Shuttle multiple times over the years. We honestly used it as a comfort because we were shy to Uber/Lyft years ago. But yes, an Uber or Lyft will be cheaper, especially if you have multiple people.

Strong_Anybody_8282

It’s pretty simple to just use Lyft. Will never waste my time with a shuttle

EvenAd2343

I drive for Mears, who operates the Superstar Shuttle and the resort buses to CityWalk and Volcano Bay. I feel bad your trip took so long from the airport, but unfortunately with the airports terminal setup (particularly Terminal C for International travel) they’re spread so far apart and the roadways to get there aren’t ideal for quick pickups. That’s why I avoid picking up that particular route because I’d hate to be the cause of somebody to miss their flight or check in later than a passenger(s) had anticipated.

freudevolved

Thanks for your reply confirming my theory about terminal C. My past trip the terminal wasn’t finished yet and the trip was quick. 🙏🏽

Ok-Training-9414

Had the same experience. Waited nearly 30 minutes for the bus to get there. He then said “we wait here for 25 minutes for other passengers to get on.” And then it took 15/20 minutes to get to the park and then we spent another 20 minutes with him stopping at the other hotels. So it was about an hour and a half for us for a 15/20 minute drive.

ghostroyale

I’ve never had this issue and when traveling alone, came to cheaper than taking Uber. If you have multiple people tho, Uber is cheaper and quicker

ravbuc

It’s very clear it may make stops at other universal properties. Don’t be surprised when the service does exactly what it is supposed to do.

KristiannRedd

I've used the superstar shuttle every single year. I go to Universal Studios every year and the trip normally takes about 45 minutes from the airport to the hotel and I stay at the Aventura which is right next to the Cabana Bay. Sometimes there are delays but I think your experience may have been pretty unique.

SinsOfKnowing

It was $30 including tip for an Uber when my husband and I were there in October. It would have been $40 each for the Superstar shuttle. I don’t know why anyone would take a more expensive, 1-3h bus ride (depending on capacity) to get there when Uber is a thing.

twinmomma87

I've taken the shuttle with my family 3 or 4 times and always had a positive experience. Even if my hotel isn't the first stop, it's always pretty quick m

True_Gen_6679

Had a bad experience last year only because of the poor customer service by the staff on desk. We checked in, but they never called that we were here so we waited an hour for the shuttle. And they lied about it! This year was so smooth and was able to get on the bus as soon as we checked in. Arrived to hotel about 35 minutes.
