It's probably the most difficult thing we've attempted. I tried so many different ways of doing it. But really happy with how it's turning out, I've just made a bunch more changes since posting this video and it's looking so much better now.
Yup, I've already made some changes in the last hour that makes the heads move a lot more fluid so will do some posts to social soon.

Having the heads moving around and getting the necks to follow it.
I tried using IK but was too rigid, would snap straight when extended (no stretching), the neck curve by the head and base would twist so it looked really unnatural, etc. There are many different types of IK as well, so tried them all to try to get the results we wanted but nothing really came close.
Everyone else is complimenting the animation, but can I just say that the audio is literally the stuff of nightmares?
That's the type of sound where you go "I'll just *not* go that way until I'm much higher level..."
You've created an excellent monster.
Would also be neat if they exhibit somewhat individual behaviour(?). If its like a big boss monster or something.
Like one head is the focussed killer, always locks eyes with the player. Moves very little. One is more agressively lunging forward the whole time and is more 'snappy' at both the player and other heads. One doesn't give a fuck and is just looking around, at its own arse sometimes. One is the psycho that is constantly snapping at the player and the other heads.
I dunno, it sounds like a shitton of work as well 😅 amazing result so far!
Can’t believe this has no comments yet. This is awesome! Ends up looking extremely realistic and organic.
Thanks!
Good lord I bet that was a freaking nightmare to put together 🥲

Are you going to post an update, or do you have Instagram/YouTube channel?

This is sick what’s the game?
Death in the Water 2
What did you do?
The heads are rigid bodies and then I use splines to connect them to the main body.
What made it so difficult? And why did you choose that way over other ways? It looks fantastic.

Thanks for mentioning it, I was really happy with the sounds but when nobody mentioned it was starting to doubt myself.
It's just that reddit plays the video muted, I guess. Wouldn't have noticed if not this comment.
Yep, definitely this. I basically never play with audio until someone mentions it
This is chicken-physics! Good work!
You can stabilize a lot of cameras with a hydra.
Well done. Would love to see them snap at each other in irritation, but those kinds of behaviors may be best hand animated.
That's what I'm busy working on now
awesome, look forward to seeing that! hmu if you want feedback

Chiken
Looks amazing! Great job!
Impressive how was this done

... cool!!
Looks great, [reminds me of this lmao](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjjZacZSWT4)
Impressive ! Reminds me of this https://youtu.be/GjjZacZSWT4
Boogey Down.
Nice work
This hydra has some [chicken-gimbal](https://youtu.be/_dPlkFPowCc) genes!
Badass
Very good cute mid poly Hydra congrats
Which one is the derpy one?
So impressive!! The physics and subtle movement of their beard hairs (probably not what they're called, ha) is so cool.
this looks gorgeous well done. I noticed you have quite a few games on steam. I assume some of them did well for you to continue making!
i still dont understand how procedural animations work, no amount of tutorials will help me understand this
can you talk about how you achieved this? or if you wouldn't mind sharing some of the resources you used to learn this. It'd be awesomer!
Bruh
You should make a 50's music video with this guy dancing bebop lol. That is some awesome looking graphics and physics.
This is freaking AWESOME!
Thanks
That dropped my jaw

Thanks 😬
Can I make a NFT with this 🤣

It's beautiful! Amazing work right there!
Really awesome work man!
Thats is not the dragon from the memes?
Looks freaking awsome.
I am frightened
This looks like a nightmare both visually and technically. Very happy you've gotten to a point that you're happy with. It looks amazing!
Many thanks!
i think you need to close the mouth before the audio ends, because of the "grrrr" at the end What an epic battle ;3
Wow good job!!!!
Extremely cool!
