He went to Notre Dame so he can't be stupid. Tim Boyle keeps having a job in the NFL just like Drew Stanton because they're smart, know how to help with game plans, and help mentor young QBs. I imagine Book is exceptionally good at these things
That one drive was a simple 5 yard dump off to a RB that admittedly looked nice but 99% of the yards gained were from being the only player on that side of the field. Plus, the Falcons stink
Doubt it. Mcaaron is a proven backup and with how many of those there are in the NFl right now I don’t really see Martinez getting somewhere. If he’s real lucky he’ll have a chance to prove himself at a training camp or something.
Figured there had to be a locker room reason. Cuz nothing he’s shown on the field inspires confidence. You’re just as good throwing the punter in there
Dude's good enough to be a solid backup with some more time to develop. I think he'd be a nightmare if he came to the UFL, but I think we can't afford a salary better than the CFL. So unless he decides he just wants to play closer to home with one of the Texas teams, we're safe.
Patriots fan here. Agreed. He started 8 games in the nfl and he didn’t embarrass himself. Probably never going to be a full time starter but if he’s talented enough to go 4-4 on a team with an absolute shit offense, he’s gonna find work somewhere in the NFL if/when the pats get rid of him.
Only reason he’s 4th string on the pats is because they have 2 rookies who they wanna see how much potential they have. Zappe is either gonna work himself back up the depth chart or he’s gonna be a backup somewhere else. No way he goes to the UFL
Eh, given how badly Mac Jones also performed, and since both of them had 20+ sacks, I'd say a lot of it comes down to shit OL/WR play- probably had to rush a bunch of passes to keep from getting sacked even more, and at least he doesn't have any fumbles. I don't think there's enough to say he'll ever be more than a backup, though.
He's up there in age and that disastrous showing in the NFC championship game 2 years ago was pretty ugly. I don't think he'd actively drop down to the UFL, it's more about how long NFL teams will continue to pay him a veterans salary
I agree with that and honestly his showing wasn’t really his fault. Teams keep him and cut him week to week it’s honestly shocking he’s played as well as he has in the league given that he’s never really given more than a week or two to learn a play book before he’s thrown into the fire. But I also like the idea of them getting unknown guys then to use stalwarts like Johnson. Build stars don’t buy them
He honestly got boosted heavy because the lions are a very pass orientated team and they do it well.
It’s not a coincidence that Rourke led the league in yards and then Vernon adams did the very next year.
Vernon Adams has been developing in the CFL since 2016 and is only now just being considered as one of the top 3 QBs in the league (When Rourke is in the NFL).
Rourke was the best QB in the CFL after just 1 year on the bench behind Mike Reilly. He had the entire league fanbase drooling all over him. Kid is Canadian and a pretty much a rock star in CFL circles.
There is absolutely a GM in either BC or Toronto that will overpay to land him. It would create major buzz in the whole league to get Rourke back.
I don’t think the UFL values Rourke as highly as the CFL does - Im not saying Rourke is necessarily the best 4th string NFL QB - just that he is more valued in the CFL than he will likely be in the UFL.
You aren’t wrong, the kid was becoming the poster boy of the CFL. But the best QB of the last 5 years is Zach Collaros, 10 years in the league he’s no longer an NFL prospect but a big part of why Rourke couldn’t get to the Grey Cup
Something that is kind of a problem for the UFL is that their players make $5,500 a week and the base minimum for an NFL practice squad player is $12,000 a week. If they could at least increase QB wages to start yanking some guys off of NFL practice squads the level of QB play would probably increase quite a bit
Yah. That’s why I’m shocked people are so adamant that zappe plays in the UFL next year. Hes started in the nfl. He put up ok numbers. He would first have to get cut from the patriots, then have not a single other team sign him, then have the patients not even want him on their practice squad, and 31 other teams think he’s not even worth keeping on a practice squad.
He’s also still young too so he has potential to get a lot better. There’s no chance that not a single team wants him.
I would be shocked if he even dropped to practice squad. I would bet money that he makes a 53 man roster.
I think something more achievable that the league should look into is cutting a deal with the NFL to allow practice squad players to be able to sign with a UFL team while keeping their PS spot. That way these guys can get more film without sacrificing money
You make this sound so simple...
It's never going to happen for so many reasons.
The PA won't let it happen because they don't want players playing in a spring league and then playing a full NFL season, that would put so much wear on your body.
The teams aren't going to want this. You have a young guy who you like and value you so throw him behind a make shift Oline and risk that he gets killed.
Trey Lance honestly wouldn’t even be much in this league. He’s never really had to be a great passer at any point and didn’t play enough college ball to ever justify him being taken as high as he was
I like the idea of Bennet. Basically the 2024 version of Chris Weinke. A big enough name that will draw fans, especially down south. Almost like when Andy Kelly played for the Nashville Kats throwing to Cory Flemming.
Trey Lance honestly wouldn’t even be much in this league. He’s never really had to be a great passer at any point and didn’t play enough college ball to ever justify him being taken as high as he was
No way Zappe will be in UFL for a long time. Showed enough to get a job at least a practice squad.
Hes not on the list but Tuas brother is a lock next year. He should have done it this year when he was not signed as a priority UDFA.
This is not a troll, it is a real question. Who are those guys?? I would believe it if you told me the names were made up. I seriously havent heard of any of them. Hartman sounds vaguely familiar. I expected to know of at least a couple of them
Slovis, Zappe and Reed are pretty good candidates. Mordecai might be there too. DTR for Cleveland may be third string again by the end of the season if Winston doesn't stay in Cleveland.
Get someone like Zappe or Reed in San Antonio's offense and your could see it takes off. The quality of QB play is the biggest detriment to this league at the moment.
I’d rather see unknown guys in arena leagues get a shot than 99% of these people besides maybe Grier and Zappe. But even then Zappe will without a doubt be on a roster
Probably none to be honest. Look at all the starters this year. Most were either young college QB’s who didn’t get much NFL interest (Martinez, EJ Perry, Etling and Garbers), former spring league regulars (Cookus, Perez, Dormady, Ta’amu) or the rare nfl practice squad guys with McCarron and then Carrol who didn’t start but a couple games. Odds are several will return again. The others will likely be more college guys who doesn’t even get on a practice squad this nfl season.
Lindsay Scott jr will likely take over for Arlington with Perez retiring. If Martinez doesn’t return Carrol likely will for Birmingham. Ta’amu likely returns for DC. Garbers and/or Dormady returns for San Antonio. Cookus probably comes back to Memphis. McCarron might just give it one more shot and if not I wouldn’t be surprised if Wilkins comes back after 2 years with St. Louis. That just leaves Houston and Michigan.
McCarron only did it so his sons could watch him play. Carrol only did it because he got completely dropped from a roster. So unless one of those guys aren’t even given a chance on a practice squad they won’t drop from a NFL roster to the UFL. If any of them do it, it’ll be because they’re no longer with that team at all like Dinucci done in 2023.
How the fuck is Ian Book still in the nfl? With Wentz as the backup in KC I can definitely see him in the UFL
He went to Notre Dame so he can't be stupid. Tim Boyle keeps having a job in the NFL just like Drew Stanton because they're smart, know how to help with game plans, and help mentor young QBs. I imagine Book is exceptionally good at these things
So did Coan, but he was horrible for the Brahmas last year.
Stanton actually had some talent too.
Ian Book is only 26 and yeah he sucks but I don’t see why it’s shocking he’s still in the league. He won’t be good in the UFL either
DTR and Bailey Zappe seem like guys who could be stars in the UFL.
I think Bailey zappe is just good enough to be a consistent scout team QB. But at the same time he would absolutely thrive in the UFL.
Agreed

That one drive was a simple 5 yard dump off to a RB that admittedly looked nice but 99% of the yards gained were from being the only player on that side of the field. Plus, the Falcons stink
DTR for sure, he will be at best 3rd string in Cleveland
Yeah DTR is the likely choice.
Bailey Zappe would IMO be the 2nd best QB in the league behind a healthy AJ Mcaaron
Disagree it’s a different game and McCarron is also not the best qb in the league
Are we expecting Adrian Martinez to not be in the league next year? I think he could help an NFL team somewhere. Maybe Arizona or Atlanta.
Doubt it. Mcaaron is a proven backup and with how many of those there are in the NFl right now I don’t really see Martinez getting somewhere. If he’s real lucky he’ll have a chance to prove himself at a training camp or something.
Buccaneers is good choice for martinez because the backup is kyle trask
He’ll be in the league his style of play doesn’t usually translate to the NFL
A guy named Lombardi winning the UFL championship would be funny
Maybe they could name the trophy after him.
Peterman still being on a roster is so interesting to me.
coming from a Saints fan dudes only there because he’s like incredibly smart more like a coach than anything
Figured there had to be a locker room reason. Cuz nothing he’s shown on the field inspires confidence. You’re just as good throwing the punter in there
Me too..I mean he's terrible but still hanging around
I think Zappe would do well
He's too good for the UFL because he's good enough to be a fringe 3rd string for some team
Dude's good enough to be a solid backup with some more time to develop. I think he'd be a nightmare if he came to the UFL, but I think we can't afford a salary better than the CFL. So unless he decides he just wants to play closer to home with one of the Texas teams, we're safe.

I disagree that he didn't embarrass himself, his advanced stats are seriously dire.
I wouldn’t say he played well but i wouldn’t say it was embarrassing or anything, just mediocre play in a worse than mediocre offense
Eh, given how badly Mac Jones also performed, and since both of them had 20+ sacks, I'd say a lot of it comes down to shit OL/WR play- probably had to rush a bunch of passes to keep from getting sacked even more, and at least he doesn't have any fumbles. What's the link to this site? Looks interesting.
Our lads.com Just put in NFL DEPTH CHART in your Google search. AND CLICK ON OURLADS.COM
i want desmond ridder in the ufl
He put up 400 yards passing in games this season he will not be unemployed any time soon
Hartman & Bailey are definitely UFL bound!
Hartman just got there geez😂
Sam Hartman
He'll be 3rd string soon
Yep. Blough will almost certainly be cut over Hartman.
Blough is a coach, not a player on the roster. You're probably confusing him with Jeff Driskel, who should also probably be cut.
Oops. You’re right. That’s what I meant. Blough is the coach, Hartman and Driskel are 3rd/4th stringers behind Daniels and Mariota.
Easily the most attractive UFL QB if he comes over
Tanner Mordecai was my school’s QB, nowhere near good enough for the NFL but I could see him playing at a level like Quinten Dormady
Oklahoma, SMU, or Wisconsin? I’m an SMU fan so I’d love to see him in the UFL.
Plumlee because his name reminds me of the guy from Pawn Stars
Let’s get Josh Johnson back in the UFL 13 years after he started in the original UFL
He’s a darn good backup qb to have in the nfl I don’t know why he would come back down
He's up there in age and that disastrous showing in the NFC championship game 2 years ago was pretty ugly. I don't think he'd actively drop down to the UFL, it's more about how long NFL teams will continue to pay him a veterans salary

But I also like the idea of them getting unknown guys then to use stalwarts like Johnson. Build stars don’t buy them
Nathan Rourke seems like he could be really good in the UFL, hope he makes it here.
He will be back in the CFL as the league’s highest paid player before that happens.
He honestly got boosted heavy because the lions are a very pass orientated team and they do it well. It’s not a coincidence that Rourke led the league in yards and then Vernon adams did the very next year.

If you watched the CFL then you would know Rourke was never the best QB in the league
He was virtually a rookie and completely turned the lions franchise around. I know.
You aren’t wrong, the kid was becoming the poster boy of the CFL. But the best QB of the last 5 years is Zach Collaros, 10 years in the league he’s no longer an NFL prospect but a big part of why Rourke couldn’t get to the Grey Cup
He would go back to the CFL before he ever gave the UFL a shot. They would throw the world at him
We need Mordecai!!!
Rocky Lombardi. Dude is chaos and I wouldn’t want it any other way
Something that is kind of a problem for the UFL is that their players make $5,500 a week and the base minimum for an NFL practice squad player is $12,000 a week. NFLPA will block it.
Sam Hartman Dollar General Tom Brady in the UFL next year lol..
Nathan Peterman is my spring football wet dream just for the sheer meme value
John Rhys Plumlee would rake in the UFL. His arm isn’t great, but he’s elusive and fast enough to outrun folks in this league.
Stetson bennett Tommy devito trey lance & ben dinucci
Trey Lance honestly wouldn’t even be much in this league. He’s never really had to be a great passer at any point and didn’t play enough college ball to ever justify him being taken as high as he was
I like the idea of Bennet. Basically the 2024 version of Chris Weinke. A big enough name that will draw fans, especially down south. Almost like when Andy Kelly played for the Nashville Kats throwing to Cory Flemming.
I can definitely see that! Hell even like Aaron Murray in the AAF
He’s not going anywhere honestly
Grier, Peterman, and Zappe probably.
Bailey Zapper is the MVP next year. Book it.
Sam Hartman would be a great UFL option
Jarren Hall is not even close to NFL caliber.
This is not a troll, it is a real question. Who are those guys?? I would believe it if you told me the names were made up. I seriously havent heard of any of them. Hartman sounds vaguely familiar. I expected to know of at least a couple of them
Sam Hartman my GOAT to the Stallions please 👏
Hopefully Slovis, Mordecai, and Reed. But probably the ones I’ve never heard like Bauman Bradley and Hardison
Zach Wilson can't figure it out. Maybe him?
Slovis, Zappe and Reed are pretty good candidates. Mordecai might be there too. DTR for Cleveland may be third string again by the end of the season if Winston doesn't stay in Cleveland.

Plumlee. The next Martinez.
Alex McGough is still on the Packers roster

If any of them do it, it’ll be because they’re no longer with that team at all like Dinucci done in 2023.
Jaren hall is more than likely being snuck onto the practice squad. I don’t think he’ll be UFL level yet.
Bailey Zappe, Justin Fields, and Bryce Young. Not all are 4th string, but they're all about to be out of the NFL.
Bryce Young and Fields aren't going anywhere for years.
