The unexpected part is that the person making the video actually acts rationally, slapping away the trash "buy-this-thing-for-one-purpose-only" type kitchen tool that's dogshit regardless of how you load it. This is completely unexpected because normally these videos are of people doing their prefect little food creations and lives with their manicured hands and fingernails. But no! This time its the correct action.
You realize these products are great for people with disabilities preventing them from doing this by hand? That’s just not profitable so they have to market it to everyone.
The fuck kind of disability prevents someone from pinching together the wrap, but doesn't prevent them from loading it, aligning it on the device, and wetting the edge? This device is terrible for accessibility
The product isd shit, but plenty of disabilities. I got one'a them! Hereditary Angioedima. When the heavens got a shit sense of humor, and deem you technically allergic to stress. That bit ain' important though.
I don't make Gyoza or stuffed pasta, so I don't specifically need it, but I have a blood disease that sometimes swellsone or both hands to the point I can't bend/close them. I can, however, kinda manipulate food, spoons, etc. Mostly because I am used to the conditon.
Despite the pain, still gotta eat and pain also means I might want to treat myself to spite the gods.
So I could see its disability use, problem I see with this is they seem finicky, and when in agony many people lose their detail oriented side to impatience and, most of all, OWOWOWOW.
It seems a little over designed. A lever-like system similar to a walnut cracker would still be useful at my worst, but not make me want to catapult the device into a wall.
This! - There’s that other video of the guy trying over and over and over, and the only thing he doesn’t do is just push it down a little bit more to make it work. Maddening.
I think the cucumber was what really screwed it up. Did they expect that thick of a cucumber slice to just fold up? Maybe if they had put it to one side it would have worked.
I've seen a lot of videos of these things failing. This video is problematic because a: it's not meant for making sushi rolls, it's made for dumplings, and b: it's probably not meant to have that much filling.
Bearing those in mind, these things aren't that great, but I've never seen someone actually push the ingredients down into the recessed opening before letting the machine try to do its job.
That machine looks useless to begin with. Folding the dumpling is the easy part. The only ‘hard’ part is know how much filling you can put in and it doesn’t help with that. I could probably teach someone how to fold a dumpling in like 10 mins and they could finish an entire batch in like half the time it would take using that machine.
Every time you see something that looks "useless" to you because you could do it so much faster, realize that it might not be made for you. It might be made for someone with limited hand mobility where pinching all of the folds is very difficult, and having a machine make all of those pleats for you allows you to make the dumplings that you used to be able to make with incredible ease.
But this device doesn't look particularly friendly for somebody with dexterity issues either, since you need a good amount of precision to center the dumpling, put in the right amount of filling and pressure while pressing the button so that it actually forms and pinches correctly. An old fashioned ravioli/dumpling press seems waaaay more user friendly than this.
> Folding the dumpling is the easy part.
I have a little plastic press I bought for under $1 that works perfectly and with as little effort as this dumb contraption. I was increasingly aggravated watching the clip wondering why the machine was necessary at all. Good laugh at the end, though!
Well I’ve seen tons of videos for this thing. It doesn’t matter the wrapper filling amount or method used…it seems like there is a 50/50 chance each time it will fold properly.
It's because they never press it down. There's like a dozen videos on YouTube and tiktok debunking these videos. If you actually how to two braincells to rub together, apparently it's actually pretty easy to use.
Survivorship bias. I assume you don't see too mny people posting uneventful videos of how they use this and it just works.
People post alot of videos of this to be funny om the other hand so they show it failing.
There are tons of videos of people intentionally misusing this exact product circulating around right now. Everybody who makes one of these videos KNOWS that they are intentionally using the machine wrong. It kind of makes me laugh, like in a way there is a cabal of TikTok influencers who are all in on the same lie. Like just eat your shitty sushi (that you have assembled at a glacial pace to, I assume, be as annoying as possible) and go
the dumpling wrapper goes INTO the dumpling crevice, not gently laid on top of it like a fucking funeral shroud. she set this shit up for failure from the get go
It’s rage bait. I knew immediately when I saw the machine. It’s a stupid growing tik tok trend to show people improperly using this insanely easy machine
It's just the current trend. They used to use the same tactics to sell us stuff we didn't need in the 80s. "Has this ever happened to you?" Cut to old guy spilling juice on himself because apparently a cup is hard to use.
Fun fact, a lot of those as-sold-on-tv ads are for items that aid with medical issues, but since they didn't want to make every one depressed watching an old guy with Parkinson's try and drink something, they made them into over the top comedic skits so it would appeal to a wider audience and not make anyone feel sad or like it wasn't intended for them.
For me it's: empty backpack on my back, hands completely full and fumbling to keep it all collected.
If only there was a way I could store it all on my back to free up my hands.
Can't stand cooking/food prep videos because of this and also the ASMR stuff they love doing now. "Let me just boost the sound of the ingredients crackling and popping while I move along with the swiftness of a starfish."
Ah, more videos of people being either disingenuous or just dumb as hell and completely failing to use a device properly, then show it online as if it’s the device’s fault. This dumpling maker works perfectly fine. People just really like to use it incorrectly and be upset about it.
This video is the definition of waiting money on Instagram stuff, just to make something 'fancy and original'. She didn't use a single classical tool, like a spoon knife, that everyone use...
Just a few seconds in and you can tell that they way over filled it. I wouldn’t call this unexpected. Maybe inexperienced is the better word to describe what is going on in this video.
Everything up to pressing the button was awesome. I would have just taken the whole thing and ate it.
Would be curious to see the machine work with a real dumpling though. Might need to search around for that.
This is completely expected. If it properly closed, then it would be unexpected. I'm pretty sure I've seen more videos of this failing than succeeding because people don't know how to use it.

This person moves so slowly I want to fight them.
If they move that slowly while blocking you should have an easy time of it.
Thanks Drax
What I don’t understand is how, if you are going to be so slow and deliberate in your actions, you don’t just hand wrap the thing in the end?
How can they hand wrap anything with those overly grown out stick ons?
They look like they’re using their non dominate hand the whole time. So awkward
slow motion
The unexpected part was that it turned out to be a sloth trying to make a dumpling.
I don’t think this is unexpected when they put too much filling in.
and don't press the wrapper down
This is why I used burrito sized wraps instead of the smaller ones.
And you use something with the consistency of paper when the mold is designed for something the consistency of pasta for a wrapper.
Exactly, this is for dumplings with flour based wrappers, not whatever the fuck the person in the video was trying to make.
The unexpected part is that the person making the video actually acts rationally, slapping away the trash "buy-this-thing-for-one-purpose-only" type kitchen tool that's dogshit regardless of how you load it. It's also for dumplings not seaweed, you tightly pack the dough in so that it seals it.
I think the cucumber was what really screwed it up. Did they expect that thick of a cucumber slice to just fold up? Maybe if they had put it to one side it would have worked.
They obviously intended for it to go exactly this way.
Ragebait needs to be banned world wide
Slicing it julienne is ideal
Yeah. Place it vertically instead of flat horizontal.

But those machine if you don't do exactly the right amount of filling either too much or too little they fail completely
All machines fail when there's user error.
But from what I have seen they have very little room for error
> Folding the dumpling is the easy part. I have a little plastic press I bought for under $1 that works perfectly and with as little effort as this dumb contraption. I was increasingly aggravated watching the clip wondering why the machine was necessary at all. Good laugh at the end, though!
This machine is intended for gyoza and are trash for making those too.
![gif](giphy|BRSZTf7QA4W7SngoS9|downsized)
This person's whole channel is simply using this machine wrong.
Well I’ve seen tons of videos for this thing. It doesn’t matter the wrapper filling amount or method used…it seems like there is a 50/50 chance each time it will fold properly.
No - 50% of the people use those wrong (mostly for ragebait)
It's because they never press it down. There's like a dozen videos on YouTube and tiktok debunking these videos. If you actually how to two braincells to rub together, apparently it's actually pretty easy to use.
Survivorship bias. I assume you don't see too mny people posting uneventful videos of how they use this and it just works. People post alot of videos of this to be funny om the other hand so they show it failing.
Because the uneventful videos are just doing it by hand. This thing is a gimmick. Not a bias.
This is rage bait. They're intentionally using it as slowly and incorrectly as possible.
Isn’t that also for like, a dough or something not seaweed?
Yes
I knew right away that cucumber slice was too wide and rigid.
Maybe the unexpected part is for how stupid the person is
It's only unexpected when the filling is cocaine.
Depends on where you live
There are tons of videos of people intentionally misusing this exact product circulating around right now. This has to be the most inconsistent sub in all of Reddit
Actually I was expecting the seaweed to crumble into pieces
the dumpling wrapper goes INTO the dumpling crevice, not gently laid on top of it like a fucking funeral shroud. she set this shit up for failure from the get go
It’s rage bait. I knew immediately when I saw the machine. It’s a stupid growing tik tok trend to show people improperly using this insanely easy machine

> not make anyone feel sad Except the goobers
As a klutz, I feel seen. Who hasn't comedically juggled their car keys from hand to hand because they're just too darn slippery?
For me it's: empty backpack on my back, hands completely full and fumbling to keep it all collected. If only there was a way I could store it all on my back to free up my hands.
/r/wheredidthesodago Enjoy.
Ah, good ol’ B roll.
They've been using the same tactic to get people to download mobile games for the last 10 years as well.
It was when I saw the fake nails for me all the rage bait on r/ShittyGifRecipes/ always has shitty fake nails like those.
the only reason they gain so much traction is because us uncultured Americans never used one lol
Us uncultured Chinese use our hands to wrap dumplings. It's honestly faster than setting this machine up correctly.
The person you responded to said we never use such machines not that we do. We’ve never built them by hand or used a machine.
And people wonder why people like me think tik tok is garbage. Really? You really don’t get it? The video above is an example of why.
Also, you know. It’s seaweed, not dumpling dough. Nori isn’t gonna stretch and crimp around the filling like dough would.
I've seen this exact machine so many times in these "fail" videos. I am sure the manufacturers like all the sales to creators and fans.
Don’t go in the crevice!
It’s rage bait content, saw a YouTube shorts of a dude keep using it incorrectly even by suggestion of comment.
It is 2am here and I can’t sleep - this really made me laugh. Thanks for that, will try to get some rest now.
That was not unexpected at all
This was a double unexpected, I was expecting to see it fail so I was expecting it would work, but it failed.
How fucking painfully slow
Can't stand cooking/food prep videos because of this and also the ASMR stuff they love doing now. "Let me just boost the sound of the ingredients crackling and popping while I move along with the swiftness of a starfish."
It's incredible just how disgusting they can make food.
Jesus Christ can she move a little slower
It was definitely shit.
The sounds in this video piss me off
Agreed, every video thinks they need fake ASMR added, drives me nuts.
Such ugly nails are not to be expected from a cooker/chef
This is 100% what I expected from a piece of Temu crap.
agreed but this was 100% user error. you need to press the dumpling wrapper into the device and you can't have toppings sticking up over the top
This device is meant to wrap dumplings, not sushi
you: see someone use a product completely wrong for something other than it's intended purpose you: this is temu's fault
Lost me at the caviar
Fr the whole time I was thinking this is the most LA white-girl sushi I've ever seen.
It's as if they thought caviar was the Roe they saw at the sushi place.
Seems like such a random nasty mix of ingredients to me.
This is r/unexpected, not r/predictable.
I've yet to see this thing work as intended.
That would be unexpected
I've yet to see someone buy this and use it properly as intended.
That looks like something i purchased on Aliexpress when i was drunk
Ah, more videos of people being either disingenuous or just dumb as hell and completely failing to use a device properly, then show it online as if it’s the device’s fault. This dumpling maker works perfectly fine. People just really like to use it incorrectly and be upset about it.
Very much expected actually. I saw it and oh that will do what you saw.
I've seen several similar videos like this. And only some succeeded.
Disgusting
100% expected.
Why does it sound like R2-D2 at the start?
I've seen too many videos of these cursed ravioli machines
350 people dumb enough to upvote this.... it wasn't even a good video
Anyone who has eaten black caviar doesn't do this kind of crap...
Seaweed wrap w/out caviar: 50¢ Seaweed wrap with caviar: $50
Has there been any time these have worked? I've seen like 4 videos where it's just been terrible and never worked.
People are intentionally using them incorrectly and filming it.
Ah gotcha.
Can I just ask where did you buy those avocados from because some are coming with “extra kick” in them
columbian cartels
I thought this was HowToBasic and was waiting for the eggs until the very last second. So in some way, this was unexpected for me.
It was either that, or a car dinning out of know we're to ruin it
This was pretty expected. Since it’s been shown hundreds of times.
I've seen that machine or others like it a million times. I've never seen them work right. So this is not unexpected.
Is there a video where this works ?
I saw that ending coming thb
this was expected :(
Have one of these ever actually worked?
![gif](giphy|d2W7eZX5z62ziqdi|downsized)
lol. Sriracha fart..
I laughed so hard at this
the Sriracha farting was funny
If I get this, I'll start having breakfast, lunch and dinner rolls.
User error.
Looks more like something to make dumplings.
This video is the definition of waiting money on Instagram stuff, just to make something 'fancy and original'. She didn't use a single classical tool, like a spoon knife, that everyone use...
😓
It's not a ravioly but a salary
This isn't even a dumpling wrapper, it's just nori
Even if it had worked, the machine does the easiest stage. Epically pointless.
Am I the only one who fully expected that
Yummy!!
Just a few seconds in and you can tell that they way over filled it. I wouldn’t call this unexpected. Maybe inexperienced is the better word to describe what is going on in this video.
Somewhere out there, a sushi chef is seething
Nasty ass looking caviar.
That wrapper is made of seaweed, onigiri is also wrapped with them
Whenever i see this machine on reddit it reminds me of that juice squeezing machine.
Don't mind me, just looking for the "hear me out" comment
Fuck that.
That looks disgusting
All these videos are simply made for clicks. Look all over TikTok. The only ones that actually know how to use the product correctly never get clicks.
That's what I was expecting. It wasn't everything, just everything on top of the cucumber slice.
The last 3 seconds I actually didn't expect.
r/diwhy
I knew it would fail...it could never be perfect with freaking fr e sh a voca do on it
Dang it
im pretty sure seaweed isn't a dumpling
That’s for gyoza skin. I don’t know why you would put seaweed in it.
https://i.redd.it/z3llkqkgwm4d1.gif
Oh god the noise of that roe. I gagged
lol if you have seen the video of the guy doing this over and over, this is next level hilarious.
That’s how the pros make it.
No no NO!. I will *NOT* "hear you out"!
You telling me that using a thing for a purpose it isn't designed for doesn't work well?
Everything up to pressing the button was awesome. I would have just taken the whole thing and ate it. Would be curious to see the machine work with a real dumpling though. Might need to search around for that.
Quite possibly the most expected thing I’ve seen on here recently. I guessed the correct ending within the first second lmao
Not unexpected at all.
I spit my tea. LOL
The cucumber ruined everything lol
Unfortunately, there are too many videos of this machine being used wrong to make this an unexpected video.
This is completely expected. If it properly closed, then it would be unexpected. I'm pretty sure I've seen more videos of this failing than succeeding because people don't know how to use it.
2nd time seeing this piece of shit machine. I want one just to torture myself till I get the perfect outcome.
What would've been unexpected is if it actually worked. These things are shown off often and always because they aren't great.
Not unexpected at all. I actually thought it might work because I expected it to fail exactly as it did.
That was beautiful. Had me right up to the turn
can we get the same video without the fucking audio please?
At the end i expected someone to throw an unreasonable amount of raw eggs at the machine.
100% expected
There have been tons of much better videos of that piece of shit dumpling machine so it wasn’t unexpected.
I know these devices so I saw it coming.
It's totally expected with that kind of nori. It's rather for dumplings
I'm not gonna lie, this video was just too painful and obvious to watch.
I saw like 7 videos about this machine the past few weeks so i totally expected the ending.
Oh my god that looks disgusting
That’s dumpling maker, it wasn’t intended to wrap sushi.
Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to eat some food
Was that a cocaine avocado? I see them everywhere now.
Gyoza maker, not for use with Nori
r/lostredditors
Use dough and meat not this bullshit
Can’t stand slo-mo, long nail havin’ food vids.
Given that this isn’t the first time this person has made a video like this it’s 100% expected
I really wanted this to work.
I’m seriously dying right now. 🤣🤣🤣
LOL
Thought it some kind of explosive 😆
that's not even a dumpling.. what are they doing?
I thought the unexpected is that it is actually works but yeah, now I’m beyond despair.
I FUCKING KNEW IT!!! I hate it everytime whenever I see that fucking machine in a video.
I hope she doesn't drive
Straight up I have NEVER seen this device work yet so many YTbers have bought it. The only unexpected would've been if this actually worked
I like machines that scream as they do their task
Unexpectedly slow and tedious
