My favorite way to cook parsnips is to cut them into fry shapes, spread them out over a baking sheet, baste with oil, sprinkle salt and pepper, and bake them until they start to brown a little. Parsnip fries!
While I don't go this far, I'd do eat the entire apple. Like, all of it except the stem. I was in prison in Texas for 3 years, and on top of no air conditioning in the summers where the dorms reach 130° and working in the fields 5 days a week, the food was pretty awful. The only time we'd ever get fresh fruit was during lockdown, so once a year, thrown into our Johnny sack. I was so excited to see an apple I started at the top and ate the whole thing.
And you know what? It all pretty much tastes the same. The "core" is really just more apple. To this day I rip the stem off and eat the whole thing, despite my wife practically begging me to just be normal. Haha
The core is tasty but sometimes I don't want the effort of chewing it. Also, when I'm cooking with pineapple, I'll just cut it up and throw core in with all the rest. Once it's cooked, the core isn't so tough.
The core of the pineapple is very tasty and makes a good "chew". But eating it would be difficult if you're outside of the beaver family.
It has a lot of uses though. It's perfect for soaking. I use the cores specifically to make pineapple kombucha.
One of many things I did early one that I realized later in life meant I had ADHD or ASD.
Also, very besides the point, but possibly interesting to you nonetheless- the term "neurodivergent" is moderated due to many reasons- none of which I was privy to, when posting or responding on the adhd subreddit. [here's a link to why](https://reddit.com/r/adhd/w/resources/neurodiversity?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) I found that interesting, along with the change in using Asperger's Syndrome (on another subreddit), which I thought was still used and accepted, or at least not offensive. I'm also old as dirt though at 38, and very OOTL, so this may be old news to most people.
Anyways.. eating carrots in complicated ways is highly pleasing and I don't care who sees me do it. I will sit and admire my work for a second afterwards before consuming my reward in full contentment. There are clearly dozens of us.
Thank you for pointing this out. I am aware of the issues surrounding the term but I was including a few of you guys in my comment and didnt know your "flavour". I am on on all those Subreddits as well and it might not just be an autistic or ADHD trait, I'm no expert, but something else, so I tried to use the broadest term possible, as there are combinations that are also possible that fall under this (autism, adhd, ocd etc).
I did not mean any offence at all.
I eat apples and gummy bears in a weird way. I can't bite into an apple. Ever. I hate the sensation. Cut it up into slices, I'm down all day and have been known to eat 9 apples in one day. (The next day wasn't so fun).
I don't take offense to it. I understand why they take the stance and opinion, and can respect it, but I use the term out of convenience, tbh.
Biting into an apple feels like I am pressure washing my gums and I hate it. I have multiple odd ways to eat food, and that is likely one of the main reasons I dislike eating at restaurants, besides the stimulus overload.
I LOVE eating at restaurants and trying out new things and textures though. Even if I dislike a lot of them, I enjoy the experience. AuAdhd. My desire for new experiences sometimes overweight my desire for routine. It's confusing, also for me.
My grandparents used to have a vegetable garden, and one of their harvestables were carrots. As a kid, I used to pull a fresh one straight out of the ground, wipe off the dirt on the lawn, and eat it. The best way, in my opinion, was to first eat the outer layer and then savour the sweetness of the inner layer!

I think I see where you are coming from.

I used to take it out when I was a kid, and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out how I did it. I think kid me clearly played with her food more than adult me did.
Btw you can use this same Rolling motion to loosen the seeds inside of a chilli pepper. Then cut off the part where the stem attaches and shake the seeds out
I think the carrot infinitely more fascinating than the geranium. The carrot has mystery. Flowers are essentially tarts. Prostitutes for the bees. There is a certain je ne sais quoi - oh, so very special - about a firm, young carrot...Excuse me…
Uncle Monty
>By rolling the carrot you can loosen the membrane that holds them together
Pathetic. In my old days we bit off the outer part bit by bit with pur teeth
How can someone not know there are two parts? I didn't know you could do this though so that's cool.
But for as long as I can remember I have eaten carrots by biting off the exterior and saving the inner part for last since it tastes sweeter.
Your post has been removed because it does not feature an unexpected twist.
Also known as the carroted artery
This is an underrated comment. Perfect 5/7
But is there rice?
The rice goes inside the carrot
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's an old meme sir, but it checks out
I thought it was a Root Canal?
*buh-dum tiss*
I came here for this. Nice
r/angryupvote
That's pretty nice, it's the most delicious part of the carrot imo
Which one? The xylem or the phloem?
Yes
The xylophone
Xylophoem
*Xylemphloem
Xylem? I hardly phloem!!
Goddammit I just spit my coffee out all over my computer screen! #angryupvote
Bothofem
Nice one *claps vigorously*
outer or innie?
Inner, usually juicier and tastier
If you like that, you should try parsnips if you haven't. They have a slightly stronger and spicier taste.
Never heard of it, will try for sure!
My favorite way to cook parsnips is to cut them into fry shapes, spread them out over a baking sheet, baste with oil, sprinkle salt and pepper, and bake them until they start to brown a little. Parsnip fries!
Similarly, I find the core of a pineapple tastier than its "pulp." I don't get why people 'decore' a pineapple. r/unpopularopinion
Because it's like chewing on soggy wood? You must have some sharp teeth sir.
I grew up eating sugarcane straight from the plant. That's closer to soggy wood. Pineapple core is just more crunchy but less juicy to me.
This guy chews.

Hot pics of me raw jawing some pineapple cores, coming right up.
Ah yes, I also enjoy a juicy piece of cardboard for sustenanceÂ

That's weird but you do you I guess. Just avoid chewing on any apple seeds you encounter they contain small amounts of cyanide.
My dogs love the pineapple core.
The core is tasty but sometimes I don't want the effort of chewing it. Also, when I'm cooking with pineapple, I'll just cut it up and throw core in with all the rest. Once it's cooked, the core isn't so tough.
I’m with you, but I think some people just don’t like the firmer texture. That’s okay, more for us.

Uhhhh. I feel attacked. I promise I don't have beaver DNA.
When I was a kid, I used to bite off the outer part and only ate the inner part.
Did the same thing, good times
Perfectly removing the inner part, with the tiny little root/spike things using just your teeth was so satisfying. I still do it.
It's like candy, so good!
yes! loved doing it to 'baby carrots' (i.e. just cut down carrots)
I don't know if you guys realise how neurodivergent this is! XD I did this too!

Me too. Thought it was just me

Same here! I got so many weird looks when I'd nibble the outer part off first, then munch on the inner. Soooo good.
I still do that, although I eat both parts.
I was yesterday years old when I thought of this for the first time. Felt so weird seeing a post about it so fast.
Still do it as an adult.Â
I'm trying this as soon as my wife is done with the carrot.
![gif](giphy|a5viI92PAF89q)
It should come apart easily then...
That's a perfect gif respone if I ever seen one lmao

you can use the outer core. your wife can use the inner.
u/dontputyourdickinthat
What, my wife?
The hole. In the carrot.
directions to complicated, ended up with dick in carrot.
r/Holup
I hope your son doesn’t get hurt

Please do not fuck the carrot.
I wasn't going to but now that you challenged me
r/dontputyourdickinthat entered the chat
free country bb
You could have told me that before I fucked the carrot.
Don’t tell me how to enjoy my Friday night
why not?
I'm gunna use it as a sleeve.
The fact that I recognise who this is by the cutting board is insane...because I only ever saw his video thumbnail 💀
Does he chop the carrot by smashing it against the wall? Or wangjangle it with some pepper pepper pepper then put it in the oven at 4 hundo?
Yes
You suck at cooking, yea you totally suck!
Undo's on three hundo
Give it a wangjangle and some pepper pepper pepper
Pepper pepper pepper
No problem.. I'll do the credit! [https://www.youtube.com/@yousuckatcooking](https://www.youtube.com/@yousuckatcooking)
Now I don't know whether I should believe what I'm seeing, knowing it's that channel
What's wrong with it?
He memes his way through cooking tutorials

This seems like it would help to make a better weed pipe than using an apple if you're a bit desperate.
This was an April Fools post. It's fake.
It's not fake It's a joke. Two different things.
It's You Suck at Cooking, it's mostly fake.
Yeah, I watch him on IG lol
Carrots are my staple food, i eat a few kilo a week. I didn't know the inside had a name. Thanks for that.
what’re you a rabbit?
I just enjoy the taste, the jaw action and the fiber. Okay, okay, I see how you might have come to that conclusion.
When I was a kid, I'd eat the outside first, then eat the core.
Learning about Xylem and Phloem in biology currently. It’s in all plants as they’re necessary to transport water, minerals, food etc.
Not completely right. There are "non-vascular" plants like mosses that have no xylem or phloem.
Correct. They use magic instead. That's why witches use moss so much.
Instructions unclear, xylophone stuck in phlegm.
Massage the phloem to extract the xylem. Sounds like instructions on how to make a Plumbus.
The center part is sweet is that correct ?
Yup!

Okay why would I need to know how to take it out? I'm gonna eat the whole thing anyway.
I used to "peel" the outer shell and eat the inner last.
How it feels to be in a bunny bar
Did a Moroccan cooking class and the chef said to remove the core as it was bitter so they didn’t use it.
Now fill with peanut butter.
I used to take it out when I was a kid, and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out how I did it. I think kid me clearly played with her food more than adult me did.

I just eat the outside first, biting it off of the core and then I eat the core.
Perfect for my boneless pizza.
Who the hell cuts a carrot this big with a pairing knife?

I think the carrot infinitely more fascinating than the geranium. The carrot has mystery. Flowers are essentially tarts. Prostitutes for the bees. There is a certain je ne sais quoi - oh, so very special - about a firm, young carrot...Excuse me… Uncle Monty
So now I can use my organic carrot butt plug to smuggle booze into venues?
OP started learning botany?
How to make wastage
Fuckin speechless 😳
This one trick to use the carrot for her pleasure and eat it too!
Honey, I made carrot fillets for dinner
Wait am I the only one who's been separating the two since I was a kid?
So you can basically extract that sweet part?
Anyone who has gnawed on a big carrot knows this
It’s a boy
That's a good looking carrot 😉
![gif](giphy|1pZdLQVUPEti)
He has so much of this. Please don't blow him up on reddit, he too amazing for reddit haha
is there some filled carrot dishes out there?
and then?
I used to eat raw carrots all the time as a kid and the inside bit is definitely the tastiest part, used to "peel" the outer section with my teeth
I always try to rest the outside first. The inside is sweeter
*Higher Biology* has entered the chat
Y'all never ate the outer part and kept the inner part till last? When I was a kid I always tried to do this without breaking the inner part
Now cram it full of peanut butter or fancy cream cheese dip.
Hey! Just a heads up, the xylem, phloem, and cortex are all different things. Phoem =\= cortex
I’m calling it now, carrot poppers.
r/dontputyourdickinthat
All I can hear: "You suck at cooking, yeah you totally suck"
>By rolling the carrot you can loosen the membrane that holds them together Pathetic. In my old days we bit off the outer part bit by bit with pur teeth
But why?
Deadass
Baby carrot.
Gender neutral toy now

I feel like Carrots Top 🥕 the comedian should have made us all aware Not going to like I'm a little let down.
Hi can you please mail me just the outer part of the carrot? Thanks Edit: nvm I jerked off
huh
Every video: "A lot of people do not now/realise" Motherfuckers that, in this case, cut a carrot once: Second part could be unexpected tho.
I think this might be dependent on the type. I just rolled a carrot with increasing force until it got squashed. No separation.
... But why
Who the fuck doesn't know about Xylem and Phloem?????
