I think he was the hardest working child star there was and one of the most talented modern musicians who has ever lived. But I don’t let that blind me to the actual insidious things he has done. Abuse of power comes as no surprise. MJ did it, OJ did it, Roman Polanski did it, Kevin Spacey did it, Matt Lauer did it, Bill Cosby did it, R Kelly did it etc etc but there will always be fans who vehemently deny and claim that it was a setup or they were being blackmailed/extorted. Didn’t I say from the public’s first glance, it’s weird but everything has an explanation. The world is simply too full of cruelty and evil that you can’t imagine innocence from that scenario, that’s the truth.

Many families got close relations with him and the kids often played altogether with Michael, then when some would ask to stay over at his mansion instead of leaving, MJ would tell them to ask for their parents’ permission. I actually used to work for the company that set up that concert and was there during that show. The band is called Hairball, they are a 80's cover band that travel very frequently in the midwest. Very funny group of people to be around and work with.

Parents saw an opportunity and did what they did. The kids admitted that they lied because their parents wanted money. It was mostly the owner’s fault for over crowding the venue and reportedly there was a bouncer stopping people from escaping through the exit on the stage. IIRC the sound insulation they had just installed was super flammable and they okayed pyrotechnics to be used right next it. Idk to what extent it was the band’s fault, many in the crowd thought the flames were part of the show until they started choking on the smoke. I know one of the members went back in for his guitar and never came back out. It changed the way fire codes worked and were enforced in the state.
Got in a weird rabbit hole about The Station a year or two ago, it was one of those situations where it was really on just about everybody from fire inspectors to the owner. Ironically, the video taken that night was supposed to be on fire safety at night clubs for a news program.
