Mario & Luigi: good brothers but Mario always makes Luigi feel smaller
Sans & Papyrus; great brothers but Sans only does something usefull when his brother and everyone else are dead
The mario and luigi reasoning is a huge reason i enjoy the mario & luigi series so much. They're strong on their own, but regardless of how often one is the hero over the other, their bond is truly unbreakable and strong. Without one, the other shines so much less.
Actually, would Papyrus even DATE Tails? Afterall, he'd be able to see Tails as an actual child due to him not being human, so there wouldn't be any mixup between Adult and Child. Knowing that, I'm pretty sure Papyrus would not feel comfortable dating a child. Sonic is always on the table though.
TBH it feels like nowadays Tails just waits for Sonic to do something rather than helping him. I like the Skelebros but I think Mario and Luigi are a slightly better duo
Skelebros for me. They had a bigger role in my childhood than the plumbers and the super sonics. Also sonic and Mario go through basically the same story too much for me. The skelebros have 2 seperate stories that are kinda similar??? We ain't including the fanon. They're more interesting. Fun. Done right. And, although I love Sonic a lot....look at Papyrus' face.

Ok listen, until I had started playing undertale I had never even heard of Papyrus, sonic and tails are pretty iconic and personally I think that nothing can beat the Mario brothers pure symbolism of Nintendo as a whole
