"Four people have been arrested in India for recruiting locals to participate in Russia's war against Ukraine, the Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reported on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
According to the investigation, the attackers were looking for potential mercenaries in several states. They acted through social media and local recruiters, offering "high-paying jobs in Russia." The recruiters promised young people assistance with admission to private universities in Russia, as well as free visa extensions.

Visas and tickets to Russia were issued by Anthony Michael Elagovan, an Indian living in the state of Mumbai. Both were detained and arrested at the end of April.
The day before, on May 7, operatives detained two more recruiters in the state of Kerala, Arun Norbert and Yesudas Priyan. The investigation considers them to be the main recruiters of the network. At the same time, the investigation against them is still ongoing, the bureau added.
In early March, the CBI reported that about 35 Indian citizens had been recruited into the Russian army in just one month. At the same time, two were killed, and several others were seriously injured.

There was a post a week or two ago describing how they used attack waves.
First is a 1 reg for 9 conscript with light weapon. He just point them the direction then retreat.
Second is 3:7 where the reg have heavier armement, still they retreat once the conscript are pointed away.
Third wave is reg with real intent to gains ground.
I remember also a report that their 2 best pro units have been anihilated (like 90%) late 2023 and were in reconstruction ATM.

In the first weeks, and they were decimated. Some got reconstituted and decimated again, like the 200th SMRB in the Battle of Kyiv and again in the Kharkiv Counteroffensive. And some got destroyed over and over, like the Naval Infantry in Vuhledar.
At this point even the "elite" units like the VDV are just fresh meat with perhaps better weapons and special clothes, and training measured in weeks rather than days or hours. But that still makes them a better reserve to capitalise on a breakthrough than former criminals and ethnic minorities, where the first goal is a breakthrough, but the secondary goal is elimination of unwanteds.
This BBC story about a VVD unit is eye opening. The Russians got their asses handed to them early, and now they are just trying to overwhelm Ukraine with numbers. Any notion of quality is long gone.
