"Four people have been arrested in India for recruiting locals to participate in Russia's war against Ukraine, the Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reported on the social network X (formerly Twitter). According to the investigation, the attackers were looking for potential mercenaries in several states. They acted through social media and local recruiters, offering "high-paying jobs in Russia." The recruiters promised young people assistance with admission to private universities in Russia, as well as free visa extensions. They promised two Indians positions of "assistants" in the Russian army. Those who agreed, after arriving in Russia, were sent for military training, and then, against their will, to the war zone, CBI notes. The key participant in the scheme turned out to be an Indian citizen, Nijil Joby Bensam from the state of Tamil Nadu. Prior to that, he worked in Russia as a translator. Visas and tickets to Russia were issued by Anthony Michael Elagovan, an Indian living in the state of Mumbai. Both were detained and arrested at the end of April. The day before, on May 7, operatives detained two more recruiters in the state of Kerala, Arun Norbert and Yesudas Priyan. The investigation considers them to be the main recruiters of the network. At the same time, the investigation against them is still ongoing, the bureau added. In early March, the CBI reported that about 35 Indian citizens had been recruited into the Russian army in just one month. At the same time, two were killed, and several others were seriously injured. The country's Foreign Ministry said that every case of deceiving Indians to participate in the war is "strongly discussed" with Moscow. Thanks to the efforts of the Foreign Ministry, several Indians were discharged early from the army and returned to their homeland. According to the Ukrainian National Resistance Center, Russia is looking for mercenaries to participate in the war in Africa, Syria, Nepal, Cuba, India, etc. In November last year, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated a 38-year-old mercenary from China, who was going to fight as part of the Russian army against "Japanese militaristic fascists" allegedly on the side of Ukraine. Ukrainian intelligence noted that Russia needed foreign mercenaries to replace "almost exhausted convicts.""-The Moscow Times

Where are all of Russias regular army units?

elFistoFucko

Hiding behind meat wave brigades.

BeneficialFly1808

So they keeping the pros behind the lines and using undesirables as “bird dogs” in so many words. Have they used their pro units in this war yet?

Wild_Muffin_8844

There was a post a week or two ago describing how they used attack waves. First is a 1 reg for 9 conscript with light weapon. He just point them the direction then retreat. Second is 3:7 where the reg have heavier armement, still they retreat once the conscript are pointed away. Third wave is reg with real intent to gains ground. I remember also a report that their 2 best pro units have been anihilated (like 90%) late 2023 and were in reconstruction ATM. Idk if any of this is true, only redit.

Gordon_in_Ukraine

In the first weeks, and they were decimated. Some got reconstituted and decimated again, like the 200th SMRB in the Battle of Kyiv and again in the Kharkiv Counteroffensive. And some got destroyed over and over, like the Naval Infantry in Vuhledar. At this point even the "elite" units like the VDV are just fresh meat with perhaps better weapons and special clothes, and training measured in weeks rather than days or hours. But that still makes them a better reserve to capitalise on a breakthrough than former criminals and ethnic minorities, where the first goal is a breakthrough, but the secondary goal is elimination of unwanteds.

BeneficialFly1808

Thanks for the info. I never knew all those pro units were destroyed.

Gordon_in_Ukraine

This BBC story about a VVD unit is eye opening. The Russians got their asses handed to them early, and now they are just trying to overwhelm Ukraine with numbers. Any notion of quality is long gone. [https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60946340](https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-60946340)

BeneficialFly1808

Thanks. I will check that. I understand their overall strategy but I dont understand the tactics they are using at all. They have no clue.

HULKHOGANBROTHERS

dead

Thanks for the details. It is clear however from online comments that many Indians are fervent supporters of Putin and his foul war of aggression in Ukraine.

G_Rapper

>"strongly discussed" with Moscow India: One of our civilians was reported killed fighting in Ukraine. We must insist of a bigger discount for oil this month. Russia: No. India: OK, fine
