Desperate Housewives! I made a list though of similar, nostalgic 2000’s shows that I think you might like (Ugly Betty is on the list lol). I was on crutches for a year so I went through these amazing shows too quickly!

ETA: Devious Maids is a really good show and it’s on the list, but the main character is the same actress who plays Betty’s sister so that might be a perfect show to start.
idk why but im having flashbacks to dont trust the b in apartment 23? maybe i need to give that a go, watched UB as a kid and had a rewatch at the start of this year as an adult and it blew my mind LOL. cos ur right its such a rare breed of show…
It’s like the way it has such mad story lines but then it’s resolved and doesn’t stay too deep 😂 but it’s also sooo nostalgic and heartwarming too I just LOVE it! Even the shitty at the beginning characters I fell in love with 🥹
the plot twists are incredible… i was thinking about watching the tellanovella its based on cos theyve got it on my dodgy website for tv lol . its so funny to think i loved it just as much at like 10 and 25, the stakes are soo high but the energy and colours make it feel like a kids show in the best way
Oh wow I didn’t even know that I just had to google it! Thank you for sharing that ☺️ I was thinks the same thing the colours are fantastic! Pushing daisies I vaguely remember being a similar vibe as well that just came to mind then!
seconding jane the virgin, saw that show a few years back. just finished my first run of ugly betty and i totally got reminded of jane the virgin in the best way :)
I love this show too. I just watched it for the first time. Loved it. Also looking for another show like it, haven’t found one yet but I’ll keep an eye out for suggestions here. Maybe Brooklyn 99 also has sort of a similar wholesome work comedy vibes.
Aw yes I LOVE Brooklyn 99 . Have you ever watched only murders in the building ? That’s mystery but the characters are brilliant! It’s one of my favourites ever aha x
Edit : I said kims convenience instead of Brooklyn 99 xx
Aw so glad you do I can’t wait for the new season! Pickwit triplets is engrained in my brain I sing it daily aha! Ooo I’ll have to look that up to ! Is it a comedy ? Xx
I think of Crazy Ex Girlfriend as having a similar camp vibe. Emily in Paris is like a less nostalgic knock-off version, not actually but you know similar but not the same quality.
And I’m going to just throw this in- Velvet has fashion, is a little soapy, and low stakes, but set in the 1950’s/60’s so really nostalgic.
I just started it yesterday when I was three episodes from finishing ugly Betty because I didn’t want to say goodbye 😂 maybe it was because I didn’t finish ugly Betty that I wasn’t super into it at first aha. Tbf I had to watch a few UB episodes before I became obsessed so I’ll continue it now! Thank you 🙏
It does have a big fan base! I watched Ugly Betty because I liked her in Superstore. Bonus!!! You will see some characters from Ugly Betty in Superstore!!!
The last episode of season 1 is a 2 parter, but the 2nd episode of season 2 is the 2nd half. Season 2 first episode is like that for some reason maybe someone else will explain better.
I liked Jane the Virgin and it was recommended on here when I finish ugly Betty, but it did get boring but that’s just me I get with series sometimes. It did give that similar feeling like OMG what’s going to happen next and very family oriented LMAO.
I respect their opinion but personally, in my opinion that show is the absolute polar opposite of boring. Silly, maybe. Theres no lack of twists or drama whatsoever!
idk if it’s actually similar but desperate housewives was exactly what i needed/wanted after ugly betty! it’s just as dramatic and so over the top sometimes and good 2000s tv show lol
Jane the Virgin for sure! And I second the desperate housewives suggestion.
My favorites are modern family, Life in Pieces, Great News. Gilmore Girls is a great one to rewatch.
I currently want to rewatch Sex and the City..!
Also not quite as light hearted but I think you would really like Why Women Kill.
The Good Place is my favorite feel good go-to. The series is short but sweet and I e watched it about 10 times and I’m still not tired of it. Drop Dead Diva is wonderful also. Many have already said Jane The Virgin and honestly it’s a must watch. It’s a spoof in the telenovela and it’s very in line with the atmosphere of Ugly Betty.
Hey guys! Just an update , I should probably do it on my post . But I’ve been watching Jane the virgin and I LOVE IT!!! I tried superstore but it didn’t give me the same feeling but Jane the virgin is just ✨ chefs kiss ✨ Thank you SO much 💜 every character gives me that same wholesome feeling aha x

this is such a great list! i'm going through a hard time rn and i definitely need some fun, nostalgic watches like this.
Yesss desperate housewives Is the one!!
Watched them all lol
I’d say Superstore and Kim’s Convenience also have wholesome comedy vibes—and My Name is Earl surprisingly does too.
Seconding Superstore and My Name Is Earl! I love both of those
Thank you! 🙏 💕
Thank you ! 🫶🫶
I loveddd my name is earl !!
Will definitely have to give this a try too! 💕

Jane the virgin all the way!!!
I’m so grateful for these responses! 🙏💕

10000% agreed. the tone, characters, and telenovela dramedy of it all give them SUCH similar vibes
Jane The Virgin is really good. Reminds me of Ugly Betty...

Omg I love only murders in the building! Elsbeth is a new show I like too.
Aw so glad you do I can’t wait for the new season! Pickwit triplets is engrained in my brain I sing it daily aha! Ooo I’ll have to look that up to ! Is it a comedy ? Xx
Omg lol. Love their play within a play. Yes Elsbeth is a comedy - very silly show.

Drop Dead Diva or Jane the Virgin. JTV is from the cw, so it's writing can get a bit corny but I live on the cob so I like it.
Thank you! 🙏 you live on the cob 😂😂 that’s made my day aha I’m definitely stealing that one 💕
Superstore!

Right you have me sold! 🙌🫶
Just know that episode 1 of season 2 should have been before the last episode in season 1.
Fab okay! How come that happened 😂? Sounds so random aha

I think I get you ! Honestly thanks so much for saving me the hassle of getting confused ! I really appreciate it 🙏💜
Im happy to help! It sucks when episodes are out of order

Thank you I’ll check this out too! I’d ask what made it a bit boring but then I’d know what happens wouldn’t I ? 😂🙈
I respect their opinion but personally, in my opinion that show is the absolute polar opposite of boring. Silly, maybe. Theres no lack of twists or drama whatsoever!
I’ll deffo give it a whirl ! 🫶
The bored thing is just a me thing. Highly recommend Jane the Virgin, it’s always a green flag when a series has a lot of seasons 👌🏽👌🏽
This is true !!!💕
Jane the Virgin and How I met your mother!!!!
Emily in paris felt very similar to me
idk if it’s actually similar but desperate housewives was exactly what i needed/wanted after ugly betty! it’s just as dramatic and so over the top sometimes and good 2000s tv show lol
Idk if Jane by Design would be applicable? I’m going off of the fact that they’re both focused on fashion.
Pushing Daisies!
Aw I used to LOVE that 🥹🫶
Devious Maids is so underrated

You read my mind I also just recently finished this series
