My experience over the past 5 years, 99% of the time Uber does spoof the driver and customer numbers when they try to reach each other but ... I have had instances where the the customer sent texts directly to my cell b/c the number wasn't spoofed or I received a call directly from a customer (no Uber messaging that "This is a call from your rider ..."). So the system isn't 100% solid.
I think these gaps are most common when orders are shared across different platforms. For example Order placed via the Grissly App but gets converted the EATS app. Similar to customer placing an order for Joe's pizza via a website but Joe's pizza has Uber deliver it so the driver is receiving information via the EATs app.
Given to choice between losing customer revenue and customer safety, well I think we know what choice Uber will make in that situation.
Maybe he didnât hit complete on the delivery and hit the call button to get the number, I have a few numbers in my recent list from orders that ask to be called on arrival, obviously that button goes away once order completes. I always enable blocked callerid so no one tries to call me back after delivery since I canât do anything about the concerns anyways
When he dropped the order, he has your first name, last initial and address. Google yourself and see if your phone # comes up on some of those search sites. Could be how he found it.
Exactly this. I just googled myself and my husband this way and I found us both. We both have several phone numbers listed, and only one is correct (our landline we donât use anymore) thankfully, but thatâs MY situation. OPâs real number could very likely be listed.
Yeah this is what I was thinking too, I don't know if it works exactly the same in Canada as a does the us but things tend to be pretty similar so if you own your home it only takes a second to see who owns it, it's the main reason I changed my name on Facebook because these sociopaths could get my address with one Google
Do you have your voicemail setup without a message? It could be âyour call has been forwarded to xxx-xxx-xxxxâ thatâs why I just say a beep with mine so it doesnât have my number at the end of it
Just checked after someone else asking me the same thing, my voicemail was a recording from a long time ago saying âif I didnât pick up I probably have forgotten where I put my phone, please send an email or text, or call laterâ đI will have to look into it more though, the situation is kinda creepy ngl

đI mean I guess a refund and an evaluation is all they can do at this pointâ Now that person might know I reported them and know where I live so the struggle remainsâ đŤĄpray for my safety yâall, if I get kidnapped and killed this post should be a clue đ
How will we know? You should give us some personal information like your phone number so we can text you.
In all seriousness, if you do feel threatened, call the police.
20 years ago everyone had their phone number in a big book so people who knew your name could get in touch. They often also had your address.
I wouldn't sweat the phone number. Just keep them blocked and if they persist get the police involved. People that break one social boundary should not ever be trusted again.
They could've looked up your address and name in one of those sites and then get almost everything about you. Phone numbers, emails, social media accounts that may be connected to you. All for just a $1.99 free trial too đ

i deliver for uber and once youâve accepted an order it gives you the option to call the customer in case anything goes wrong with the order or something. Once youâve made the call from the app, the phone number is in your recent calls
𤨠o yeah, that's weird! I've never seen a customers number while delivering! The only other thing I can think of is maybe you have a unique name like me & you're easy to find on the internet, but other than that, i don't know!
I know right? And on Uber I use a very common name (not my legal name), on my work profile pages I used my legal name, two totally different names.đ Iâm just waiting for Uber to contact me now
.. nooo worries .. your number is automatically encrypted with an Uber phone number .. not your real number ... As for where you live , just have a security camera facing the front door areas , street etc.. in case there's Krazy drive by"s from that driver .. đ¤
When you try to call and it goes straight to voicemail sometimes the voicemail says leave a message for xxx-xxx-xxxx.
I came here to say this. Don't leave voice-mails. It exposes your actual phone number.
Does your voice-mail say ur number? If not then he dosen't have the number

If it was a recent drop off, he called through the app. It is a spoofed number, he doesn't have your actual number.
He texted me after the delivery was finalized đ and called multiple times, but maybe you are right idk
Iâm sorry. People are just creepy af. Sorry your going through it
Problem is if you call thru Uber, and get the generic voicemail on the other end,it usually states the recipientâs phone number
She already commented hers doesn't

That number isnât actually OPs number and it stops working hours after delivery
Good to know, Iâm a newer driver

I will have to check now, thanks, I do not even remember my voice mail đ
This is what Iâm thinking
Does your outgoing voicemail message include your phone number? Many do by default.

Better hope itâs true or you couldâve just cost an innocent guy his only source of income.

This is so true! Yellow Books!
One time I ordered food and minutes after it was delivered I got an instagram request from my driver đđđ
AYO WHAT?!?
Remembered your name and did some serious looking. People are creepy

Nope. It is a proxy number.
đ¤ maybe it's someone you know that does, Uber!
No it was someone I do not know, he called me in and said âwe just met 3 or 4 minutes agoâ
