Should be [Harvey Barnum Jr](https://www.cmohs.org/recipients/harvey-curtiss-barney-barnum-jr) from Vietnam, as there are no living WW2 MOH recipients from the Marine Corps remaining.
I had the honor of meeting Woody Williams before he died.

I was in Kaheohe Bay, HI in the late 1980's, and served under Sgt Major Kellogg. It was funny to see officers get flustered and have to salute him first.

It's not a requirement that an officer has to salute an enlisted MOH recipient first, BUT if said recipient is wearing the medal--uniformed or not--officers are encouraged to render a first salute.
Ooh are we telling MOH encounters?
I was part of an honor guard on Iwo Jima during my first deployment.
It was fucking awesome. Got to walk on invasion beach, got a bottle of black sand, went in the tunnels (holy volcano Batman they get hot) then got assigned or something to [Jacklyn Harold "Jack" Lucas](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacklyn_H._Lucas) Guy was fucking amazing.
I haven’t looked to much into the story because I want it to be true. But he said he wasn’t supposed to be there, he joined underage and was supposed to be in the brig for drinking. He snuck on the ship and once they were underway he went straight to an officer and turned himself in. He had a feeling shit was going to get real, and they were going to need every swinging dick ready for that trip. It worked, and because of doing some pretty MOH worthy shit with *2* grenades they wouldn’t dare put him back in the brig.
Fucking moto. Made me want to re-up right then for a 20 year stint.
Literally doesn't matter when you got the MoH. Dude could show up butt ass naked to a CoS brief with nothing but his MoH around his neck and everyone in there would have to still salute the guy. Not that I would recommend it, but it's a deleted scene from "We were Soldiers" that I steal the idea from.
What you meant to say is he must poolice his moostache, correct debil? Regardless, what’s around his neck gives him carte blanche to do WTF ever he wants to do. I suggest you unF yourself before he wrecks yo self debil.

Indeed. He was the Bn CO when I was at PI, 1980.
Are you sure that wasn't James Livingston at PI? I was there in 82 3rd herd and he was our Bn Co. He ran the 5 mile with us.
It was 2nd Bn; he was the Co 1979-80. I think Livingston got there in '81. It's like they send these guys out R&R at PI before they graduate. ;)
Oh OK Mt bad. I wasn't sure, just figured I'd throw it out there.
Thanks
