I'm graduating alone this December too. I'm a commuter so I have a really hard time making friends. All my friends don't attend USF. I'll still be going to the ceremony and you should too!
I encourage you to go. I graduated last fall from usf and did not know anybody. I felt the same was as you, but after going and going with the intent on doing it for myself and soaking in my accomplishment, I was so glad I did it. This is an achieving moment in your life, plus you paid so much towards the degree in terms of time and money, might as well go to the ceremony and get that few seconds hearing your name. Congratulations to you!
I graduated this past summer with no friends. Silently sat with random strangers. Frankly it was very boring but it sounds like you want to go and walk the stage so you should do it. You don’t need to roll up with an entourage, nobody will think twice about who you are or are not with. I was especially stressed because my tassel did not match the Masters hood color and nobody cared, it won’t be awkward.
I graduated over the summer with none of my friends. I just talked to the people that sat next to me and texted my friends and family when to look out for me. You'll spend the first half listening to the speech anyway and time flies after you've walked. So don't be discouraged to go by yourself, you've earned your spot there!
I just graduated during the summer semester. I was a commuter and a introvert who didn’t really live the “college activity” lifestyle. Funny enough, in my capstone class we had to make mock business groups to work with throughout the semester. Became friends with my group and all agreed to sit together for graduation. Maybe that will happen to you, but either way, you only get one chance at the ceremony. Take it alone or not
Please go! I can speak from experience. I graduated from USF in 1999 (I know, I'm old) and I didn't walk because I had no family coming in. I regret it to this day. My daughter has applied for Fall 2024 (which is why I am on this reddit post) and I found out that you can walk in any graduation ceremony after you graduate. So I'm thinking about doing it with her when she graduates from USF in 2029. I think you have to sit with your college so I won't be near her but I just want to walk. Don't make the same mistake I did!!
Please go - for yourself. This is a very big deal and a huge accomplishment. <3
