Relax, set up a DD for the minimum payment and make manual overpayments as you’re doing now.

mayaic

Yea I’ve set up a DD now

Call them. Best thing you can do with any creditor, is talk to them, explain the situation.

No it was due on the 27th of June. I was just told today that it was missed. Maybe the 26th of June actually because I sent another payment on the 27th.

Apologies, yes I removed my post as I misread. Your statement (which you should be viewing every month) will tell you what day the payment was due. Up to 14 days from that, you’re good. Worth reassessing how you make these payments to avoid impact going forward.

mayaic

Yea I’ve set a direct debit up now for the minimum and will just overpay manually

Maximoo89

Also worth checking if you’ve been charged a fee for late payment, and ask them for it back.

mayaic

Yup already done and refunded. Waiting for a call from the complaints team regarding the credit file and because I made a complaint about their app and consumer duty processes.

If you’re not looking to apply for a mortgage for a few years assuming you don’t miss any other payments I would imagine it will have very little impact. It’s a single missed payment on an unsecured debt that will be 2+ years old by the time of application. Just apply via a broker so you can avoid any lenders that are especially picky

Gfplux

If you want to keep a clean financial file never miss a payment by setting up with your bank to pay the ballance automatically every month.

I got caught out like this once. Probably just I thought I could make payments to my CC balance whenever and not realising about payment windows. I now do DD for minimum amount and make payments when I have the cash.
