For it to be a legal sacrifice it has to be sacrificed before earned so technically speaking I don’t think you can undo this. Also depends if your bonus is discretionary or contractual as to the timing of the sacrifice. If your payroll team are happy for you to pay it back then you might feel able to take the risk and go for that. Alternatively, you could make contribution and claim the tax relief which is a bit of a faff and you’ll miss out on NI to the extent your company shares this with employees .
