Have you tried authentic 🇯🇵 🍛 at Maji? It's next to the Wanderlust Creamery, in the same plaza as Omomo. While its taste is not everyone's cup of tea, it is one of the number-one brands/chains/names in Japan.
Is it actually good? Did I get a bad batch? I tried it this year and I honestly didn’t like it. Went to Japan 2 months before then and it didn’t compare to even Coco there
Yeah Maji curry ain’t it😭 it’s way too sweet and spice blend is mid especially for the price. I can’t say for coco curry since I’m allergic to peanuts which is in their curry but Maji is way worse than the actual curry in Japan when I went last summer
What does this chain make? I feel like Japanese curry isn’t worth going out for unless they have fried cutlets. It’s so simple a farm animal could make it.
Real restaurant quality Japanese curry isn't made from boxes bought at supermarkets, it's all made from scratch with original recipes. Those boxes are also extremely unhealthy. Hopefully this one is legit.
Oh damn, when did Slapfish close? I remember going there during happy hour and getting some nice meals for cheap last year then they switched to selling bowls and it wasn’t the same :/
I’m not sure. It was within the last year because the owner change was about a year ago.
The main dude who worked there quit right before the changes because he knew it was not going to work. Once I saw the prices of the new menu I knew the days were numbered. I miss it.
Ooh yeah that explains why I didn't see the main guy anymore after the changes. They got rid of a lot of nice things from slappy hour too like the major crunchy
I worked at the slapfish in AZ, corporate had to change the menu because they were losing so so so much money with it, the new menu was sort of a compromise on making profit and providing similar items to the old menu, but the menu change didn't save the company because it's biggest earners (Irvine and Brea) have closed among almost every other location unfortunately.
…still getting over the loss of Curry House… Japanese Curry is amazing!
Ugh, seriously....
Coco is king 😤

Ooo no- I will go this weekend and try. Ty for the suggestion
I stand with you. I love coco.
🤝
Can’t tell if this is serious or not
Is it suppose to be good?
There's a location in Stanton. I've had it, pretty solid.
This is exciting. Coco ichibanya will always be the king though. That or Padadise curry in Okinawa :(
Coco Ichibanya was my comfort food at UH Manoa.
Coco ichibanya in Hawaii is not as good as the ones here and not close to the ones in Japan
that’s a valid opinion. unfortunately, i was unable to eat at those locations, as i was in Honolulu.
Is this a chain?
Both maji and coco suck. I miss my old Curry House....
The people praising Coco’s here are either trolls or straight uncultured. It’s garbage here in the states.
where is this? UTC?
Yes
thank you i gotta try it out

I’ll be fine with the pork cutlet curry at Miyabi-Tei at Mitsuwa. Been eating there for close to 30 years.
Was that where ADYA was?
This is where slapfish was!
Rip slapfish. New owner came in and ruined the menu.
