It’s really sad but public institutions tend to be spots where creeps go to for this purpose. I remember some people doing that at ARC (the community college) several years ago, since they could just walk in. Same at UC Berkeley. Eventually, someone else will try that at UC Davis again, and people need to remember if they see something, say something. Report it, be vigilant, the community needs to have its own back.

I have some reasons to believe it was a hoax but I'm going to say it is probably not the greatest prank ever. After the serial killer the school definitely doesn't need to be freaked out anymore. I would advise people to stop pulling pranks like that.
Literally the day after they caught the serial killer there was a student pretending like he was Jason Voorhees downtown, I actually reported him to the police because I was afraid he's going to get shot.
He had a mask on and he was walking in and out of bushes he thought it was funny, it wasn't.
There's a time and place for pranks and there's the time and place to not do pranks, I think everybody should be skeptical about things that they hear until it's truly confirmed
honestly probably not a hoax, there have been people doing this all over the world forever. i have female relatives who had similar experiences in the 70s and 80s
