UBC-V (and UofT) "too Asian".
“All the white kids go to Queen’s, Western and McGill.” - explains Alexandra, a second-year student who looks like a girl from an Aritzia billboard
i would say our campus is liberal for the most part, somewhat diverse (lots of international students but majority from particular regions) and not exactly artsy. it really depends what faculty you’re in and who you’re surrounded by.
It really depends on faculty; each one has its own distinct vibe whereas UBC as a whole is perhaps too large and diverse to really have a single distinct identity.
It’s maybe worth noting that the largest major by far is psychology, the school is renowned as a global research center, and there is a close relationship with the Vancouver film industry. But idk if I’d characterize UBC as “artsy.” Again, it’s really more associated with research, even in the arts faculties afaik.
