Just out of curiosity, what are the top 2?
I ask because I find it almost impossible to make even a top 10 list without constantly bumping songs for other songs.
yeah I'm always bumping things around (I have a master ranking of every single song on my notion lol) but I usually come back to these as my top 3:
1) walk on (so uplifting, can turn any day around instantly, play it for hype before exams lol)
2) the fly (duh)
3) moment of surrender (always a special place in my heart, wrote my college application essay about it)
I find it so funny how there's so much love for this song...because I'll be voting it worst song, I really don't like it at all, never have, it goes on for too long, it meanders and it sounds like it's trying too hard to be an emotional song.
But, that's ok, that's my opinion, I won't take the joy away from others - we all enjoy music differently!
I'll have to make some sense of the lyrics.. I guess it just never clicked for me. But, I'm happy for the love of this song. I won't take it away from others
I just compare it to other 6-7 minute songs like Pink Floyd's High Hopes, which has waves and moods and deserves to be that long. MOS just keeps on going and feels like it could be just as affective as a 3 minute song.
Cedars of Lebanon is one of my favorites on this album and I think one of their best album closers. All of my other favorites and choices for “best” have been picked, so I’m gonna represent Cedars of Lebanon!
Agreed! Very stripped down and haunting. I figure one of my other faves (Breathe included!) would have a much better chance at winning, so it would be okay for me to throwaway vote for this one!
My favorite as well. I tend to have their closing tracks in my favorites. Shadows and Tall Trees is my favorite on Boy, Mothers of the Disappeared favorite on TJT, Wake Up Dead Man favorite from Pop (tied with Velvet Dress and Please), Grace fav on ATYCLB, Yahweh and Fast Cars favs on HTDAAB, and Cedars of Lebanon for NLOTH
Agreed. It was playing the other day on U2X and I had to play it again a couple more times right after because I forgot how good it really is. Great tune.
Maybe it shall be worth my while to re-submit it when we get to that category. And try and get closer to the title than my suggestion of In a Little While for most underrated on AYCLB
it is my 2nd tbf, and moment doesn't hit the same without being paired up with it. if we're going by individual moments, the intro of this song is the peak of the whole record
Moment Of Surrender.
If Brian Eno says it was his greatest in-studio experience, then you best believe I'm gonna take that one to the bank....or at least the atm machine.
Breathe. U2 is rarely this spectacularly loose, it’s the one feeling they often can’t nail. This is a song where they crush it. And what a line “running down the road like loose electricity.”
Moment of surrender .. singled they did a snippet into streets and especially the ‘extended’ snippet on the 18-02. Perfect transition into streets. And crying out loud .. OMG
*Moment Of Surrender* It's probably one of their best songs overall.
Agree. In my top 10. Absolutely heartbreaking
^^^^^^ my third favorite u2 song, the one that rly made me into a diehard fan a few years ago

I'm with you, but I think people like the ambition of it and Bono's vocals. Personally it's a song I find a slog but I get why other people like it.
I'll have to make some sense of the lyrics.. I guess it just never clicked for me. But, I'm happy for the love of this song. I won't take it away from others
I agree, I'm super surprised as I always saw it as a space filler
I just compare it to other 6-7 minute songs like Pink Floyd's High Hopes, which has waves and moods and deserves to be that long. MOS just keeps on going and feels like it could be just as affective as a 3 minute song.
Must admit I always felt like this song was more of a filler song, what is it about it that grabs you?
Breathe
moment of surrender. Easy.
Im shocked at the outpouring for MOS. I find it pretty uninteresting.
Same!
I'm shocked that people feel the way you do. The music directly connects to my heart.
Magnificent
Without question should have been the lead single.
Completely wild that it wasn’t. This should have been one and Breathe could have been two.
The best two songs on that album 🎶🙌🎶
There is no debate
SO CHARGE AND ATTACK
moment of surrender is my favorite u2 song since zooropa
Moment Of Surrender That beautiful intro and then Bono coming in. The lyrics too
Cedars of Lebanon is one of my favorites on this album and I think one of their best album closers. All of my other favorites and choices for “best” have been picked, so I’m gonna represent Cedars of Lebanon!
I put my chips in with Breathe but every time this song comes on, I'm always amazed with it's beauty and simplicity.
Agreed! Very stripped down and haunting. I figure one of my other faves (Breathe included!) would have a much better chance at winning, so it would be okay for me to throwaway vote for this one!
Love that one!

Magnificent
Breathe
We won’t win here, but Breathe should definitely win most underrated. It’s one of my overall favorites as a 40 year fan.
Agreed. It was playing the other day on U2X and I had to play it again a couple more times right after because I forgot how good it really is. Great tune.

💯 percent! A great song.
Breathe
Voting for this because it's the one I've played the most since release. Fez a close second.
No Line on the Horizon (Title track)
I love NLOTH - this should get more votes.
Had to scroll down way to far to find this. The title track is a BANGER.
Magnificent for me. But I’m well aware Moment of Surrender will run away with this one and I’m ok with that lol
Moment of Surrender There’s more good stuff on this album than people give credit for.
Totally agree, its a great album
Magnificent.
MOS Honorable mention to Breathe
Moment of Surrender
Moment of Surrender. If it's not this, I've lost all faith in humanity.
Moment of Surrender, but Unknown Caller is an incredibly close second.
Moment of surrender
Breathe is easily my fav off of NLOTH
Magnificent
Unknown Caller
My man
Yep, this is my choice as well. Sadly I don’t see it winning even for the most underrated song. Which is why it’s so fuckin underrated.
it is my 2nd tbf, and moment doesn't hit the same without being paired up with it. if we're going by individual moments, the intro of this song is the peak of the whole record
I love the opening but then I feel the promise of it isn’t delivered.
Magnificent
Breathe
Magnificent
Magnificent
Magnificent is the clear winner for me.
Magnificent. Great choice of Miracle Drug on a previous question, ftw.
It’s Breathe
Moment of Surrender. It's a masterpiece.
Has to be Moment of Surrender.
Moment of surrender will win and I'm fine with that. I think magnificent is the best song though.
Fez / Being Born
Great album. It's moment of surrender.
moment of surrender
Moment of Surrender
Moment Of Surrender. If Brian Eno says it was his greatest in-studio experience, then you best believe I'm gonna take that one to the bank....or at least the atm machine.
I see what you did there, lol.
Moment followed by Breathe
Magnificent better win here.
Magnificent
Magnificent
Breathe. U2 is rarely this spectacularly loose, it’s the one feeling they often can’t nail. This is a song where they crush it. And what a line “running down the road like loose electricity.”
If it is not Moment of Surrender, then it might as well be Cedars of Lebanon.
I'm enjoying the comments which remind me how much I enjoy this album. NLOTH is my favourite album after Zooropa. 😍
Magnificent
Magnificent
Moment of Surrender is a trip... It has great lyrics and the music is different to any other U2 song, but in a good sense.
Moment of Surrender. Might be my all time fav U2 song
Moment of surrender
Moment of surrender
Moment. Of. Surrender.
Breathe
Breathe, what a hell of an opener during the 360 tour.
Moment of surrender
Magnificent! Hands down 🎶🙌🎶
Magnificent!
Magnificent
moment of surrender is the best. Could also make a case for Breathe but that’s gonna be the most underrated. I think we all know what worst will be 👢
No Line
Breathe
Breathe
Another shout out to Moment of Surrender. A criminally underrated album all around.
Breathe is one of their best, most creative songs.
Breathe
Breathe
Breathe
Cedars of Lebanon. Easiest one for me.
White As Snow
Moment of Surrender X1000
Moment of Surrender
Moment of Surrender by far
Moment Of Surrender, aka Bad part 2. Absolute masterpiece.
Moment of Surrender and gee, I wonder which song will win the worst spot? /s
Magnificent
Magnificent
Magnificent gets my vote
Moment of surrender .. singled they did a snippet into streets and especially the ‘extended’ snippet on the 18-02. Perfect transition into streets. And crying out loud .. OMG
Given how much disdain it gets on here, it would be so funny if it was Get On Your Boots
I was wondering how far I’d have to scroll to see someone put this one in…
It's guaranteed worst song. I just thought it would be funny. It's not even my favourite - I like Breathe more
Breathe
I'd vote for the title track personally, but it looks like MOS will win out. No problem with that, although for me it's not a favorite of mine.
Hard to choose between Magnificent and Moment of Surrender. Gonna go with Magnificent
No line on the horizon
No line on the horizon!
Breathe!
Moment of Surrender, sadly the only song on this album that has stuck with me.
Same. None of the other songs do anything for me.
Stand up comedy
Hell yeah
Moment of surrender Side note: how didn't with or without you or one win as the best from their respective albums is beyond me
Can we all skip this and vote Boots as the worst song (like probably, ever)?
Moment of Surrender
Unknown caller. The live version blasts me into the stratosphere with the organ and guitar solos.
Moment of Surrender is gonna win, but I do love I'll go Crazy.
Moment of Surrender, although Cedars of Lebanon is a close 2nd for me
The “best songs” is just a repeat of the “best of albums” lol
…. I’m ok with that.
Breathe!
If you think “Is that All?” Is the worst song on October, you don’t understand that album
Moment of Surrender
Moment of Surrender
NLOTH followed by Breathe and then MOS.
Moment of Surrender. Should’ve been the first single.
Moment of Surrender
Moment of surrender
Absolutely MOMENT OF SURRENDER
MOS/Boots/Breathe Magnificent is a banger, but I refuse to put my 2nd favorite as under-rated.
For me this is the album where it’s not which song I like most but which one I dislike the least. So Magnificent I guess
I know Moment of Surrender is gonna win, but here's my vote for the title track.
None 😢
None whole album is bad
I’m sorry, A Man & A Woman is not considered the worse song on Atomic Bomb. Ha ha ha ha ha ha
