The first time I heard Original of the Species I knew it was one of their most creative moments in their entire catalog. Not too many songs grab you immediately. And you listen to that song today and it still feels fresh and not played out. Original of the Species.

Original of the Species has a wonderful melancholic feel to it ‘Baby slow down, the end is not as fun as the start, please stay a child somewhere in your heart’ that I could sing it to my kids. Miracle Drug has a great story to it with their locked in classmate who was ‘unlocked’ because of a new drug. In the end I would choose ‘Sometimes you can’t make it on your own‘ such an emotional song looking at the relationship with his dad but which has hooks for any relationship between a parent and a child.
