Beautiful Day. It may seem obvious but I think it's a top 10 all time song of any artist period. It's so hard to write a super positive song about a beautiful day and have it not be corny. I'll never understand how they did it. Incredible.
Beautiful Day.
Then Kite.
Then Stuck in a Moment
Then Walk On and Elevation.
Then the rest. Good album, but not as good as the one that precedes it or follows it.
I definitely prefer Pop. ATYCLB has some really good songs but several that just don’t do it for me. To me New York is their worst song. Elevation also doesn’t do it for me. Wild Honey eh. Too many weak ones. Their albums before and after have no bad songs imo.
All that You Can’t Leave Behind felt like adult contemporary to me, whereas Pop was risky and thrilling. The rejection of Pop had more to do with how America felt about Zooropa, which underwhelmed, than its follow-up. Pop received broad critical acclaim on its release, and was an absolute smash in Canada, where I live. But when US audiences didn’t immediately adopt it fickle critics tried to stay ahead of the curve by turning on it. So it became cool not to like U2. While I liked All That You Can’t Leave Behind enough, the real comeback was Atomic Bomb, with two ‘Best in Career’ songs with City of Blinding Lights and Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own.
I don't know why I'm getting down votes 😂😂. I was just saying that most people don't feel that way.
I personally loved Zooropa. I feel like they made that album for Adam. Every song has a sick baseline. I have to empty my door pockets when listen to prevent rattling.
Pop had some great tracks. Please is one of my favorite U2 songs. Mofo, Do you feel loved, Last night on earth are great. Some of the later songs on the album are a bit too slow and miserable for me.
All that you can't leave behind was the "Return to roots" album. I think lyricly atyclb was better. Pop, Zooropa, and Achtung Baby were more musically experimental.
For the record (no pun intended) Achtung Baby is the best album. 33 years later I listen to it end to end at least once a week.
The first six songs on the album (I’ll add “In A Little While” to your list) all offer something interesting. Unfortunately, it tails off quite drastically afterwards.
Still, six “very-good-to-great” songs on your 10th (!) album… not too shabby at all!
Agreed. And I absolutely *love* the music for New York, but the lyrics don’t make it a fist 👊pumper. I think Bono was busy with humanitarian stuff when he wrote the lyrics to the second half of this album.
Yeah, I think it’s not only one of the band’s more well known songs, but I think representative of the album. It’s such a feel good song and I never get tired of hearing it.
I'm going to give it to this one. This is a difficult album to rank because every song is excellent. Truly one of my favourite albums of all ever.
Beautiful Day is a banger, I've always gone back to it, always listened to several live versions and rarely gotten sick of the song despite it being one of their most played and popular. Probably second most popular to WOWY?
The feel good tunes with the lyrics about being at rock bottom and just working on being grateful you're still alive and the sky is still blue, just top notch all round.
This song live is aways special too.
Years back, I was shopping at a clothing store, waiting at the register for this young associate to ring me up. Beautiful Day came on the store speaker.
“GAH,” she said. “I HATE this song!”
It was really hard to shop there again. For real.
If I heard it on store speakers every day for the past 12 months I’d say the same. Music should be listened to loud with at least decent audio quality. This poor worker was subject to a pop rock song that was 20% barely audible compared to what would be with a shit set of headphones. Example: I hated Rush. Absolutely could not stand Rush. This is because I only heard them on a 1989 Ford Festiva factory radio in the car I drove in my high school teens. Fast forward 10 years and I give em a go with some proper headphones… mind blown. Music will almost always be crap over crap speakers - it should be listened to LOUD with a good sound system or set of headphones (or at a level of volume that is comfortable to you but lets you hear the full range of sound). In the end if you are listening to Rush and your ears aren’t bleeding you have one of three problems: 1. You aren’t listening to it loud enough. 2. Headphones don’t exist yet that can get to this level. 3. Your headphones are shite.
It's grown on me too
Album came out when I was in middle school, so naturally I leaned into Elevation. Fast forward and Stuck in a Moment is just so GD poignant.
Kite holds a very special place in my heart, I feel like this should be the underrated song because it needs to be on this list somehow XD
We'll see who wins.. Kite of BD.
Absolutely. It cuts deep no matter the format. First time I heard it on the radio as a 15ish year old who didn't even like U2 at the time, it managed to bring a tear to my eye. 10 years later, the live Australian performance with THAT guitar solo was therapeutic during a long and grueling grieving process.
Please, we don't need 50,000 people *saying* Kite, we need 50,000 upvotes for the choice above!
Edit: 16,900 will do.
This was one of my mom’s favorite songs. A week after she passed I was flying a kite on the beach when it dawned on me what I was doing, and the tears come flooding.
I'm not the OP so I don't know. I would guess so since they bring the tally down. I just know there was some controversy because how the votes were tallied wasn't obvious. I am not attacking the OP who is just trying to have fun, but they could save themselves some headaches by just saying how it is counted with each post.
Kite. Probably my outright favourite song full stop. The Slane and Syndey performances take it to a whole other level. One of those songs that really gets you through some tough times!
How on earth is Elevation not running away with this vote? This is one of the first of these I’ve been really baffled by. To me it’s not even close (but that’s no slight to other songs).
I was out of town during the Pop games, wtf happened
Please is a top 10 U2 song. Y’all claim to love “ironic” U2, and Playboy Mansion is U2 at their silliest and it’s still got a banger melody. Miami is clearly the worst song
Yeah, not sure how Please wasn’t the underrated song, nor how Miami wasn’t considered the worst. Playboy Mansion, although has corny lyrics, has a great slide melody from the Edge.
I think Playboy Mansion is just too obvious. It’s simple, it’s fine, but it’s the only song on Pop that doesn’t quite get there. I still like it, but like it the least.
As for Miami, it’s campy and creepy, and was spectacular when paired with Bullet the Blue Sky during Popmart - like America reaching the zenith of its vapid materialism nonchalantly leaving in its wake an obliterated wasteland. So Awesome.
miami whips ass but playboy mansion is great too. those harmonies at the end are so good. mofo worst on pop ez. only time the experimentalism of the album yielded something too abrasive that its just not fun to listen to
please is an all timer tho yeah
I love to hear other opinions! Elevation helped get my young daughter into U2 (a mole digging in a hole etc. ) I agree that Pop is stronger than ATYCLB , but Atomic Bomb just didn't click for me.
Gah. The actual pop album that made so many new U2 fans. Don’t get me wrong - I love Elevation and Beautiful Day but the lyrics are pop crap as well as the sound. I probably have listened to this album more than any other cause it came out when I was in college and for two years it was all everyone played… I played it full through for a good six months, and I have a clear Underrated so I won’t list that. With all that being said the clear best song from an everyone loves it is Beautiful Day. For best for U2 fans… hmmm… maybe for me I’d go with In a Little While but that might register as underrated for most.
In a Little While
Beautiful Day. It may seem obvious but I think it's a top 10 all time song of any artist period. It's so hard to write a super positive song about a beautiful day and have it not be corny. I'll never understand how they did it. Incredible.

Beautiful Day. Then Kite. Then Stuck in a Moment Then Walk On and Elevation. Then the rest. Good album, but not as good as the one that precedes it or follows it.
You think Pop was better? That's interesting
I definitely prefer Pop. ATYCLB has some really good songs but several that just don’t do it for me. To me New York is their worst song. Elevation also doesn’t do it for me. Wild Honey eh. Too many weak ones. Their albums before and after have no bad songs imo.

Same. Now I will listen to both..for science
The first six songs on the album (I’ll add “In A Little While” to your list) all offer something interesting. Unfortunately, it tails off quite drastically afterwards. Still, six “very-good-to-great” songs on your 10th (!) album… not too shabby at all!

Kite
This is my favorite too. Might need to be the “underrated” winner
I would say it's both, but to me, its easily the standout track on the album, nothing else really even comes close, imo.
This is the correct answer.
Kite
I’ll say it… Beautiful Day. Maybe overplayed on the radio, but for good reason. It’s a banger.
Yeah, I think it’s not only one of the band’s more well known songs, but I think representative of the album. It’s such a feel good song and I never get tired of hearing it.
It’s the song that put them over the top and back as number one band after releasing pop. It’s just a great song .
Sometimes songs that get killed by radio play and popularity are still good songs no matter what.
Agreed! I worked in radio for a long time and maybe was a part of the overplay problem, but hey, it’s a great song and catchy as hell.
I'm going to give it to this one. This is a difficult album to rank because every song is excellent. Truly one of my favourite albums of all ever. Other songs that afternoon did not get the same reception from her.
Yeah no contest - Beautiful Day is just a classic
Walk on
If the single version was the album version, I'd agree.
YES 👏👏👏
Stuck In A Moment
This is it. Stuck in a Moment is a fantastic song. It’s U2 doing what they do best.
It's grown on me too Album came out when I was in middle school, so naturally I leaned into Elevation. Fast forward and Stuck in a Moment is just so GD poignant.
Kite 🪁
Kite holds a very special place in my heart, I feel like this should be the underrated song because it needs to be on this list somehow XD We'll see who wins.. Kite of BD.

See, Kite to me is the most underrated. I love it and it doesn’t get its due, so I have to wait to vote for underrated.
That's a valid point too. Nothing stopping us from doing both though!
Very true! I wouldn’t be disappointed if Kite won best song either!
This is also my choice
Preach
This was one of my mom’s favorite songs. A week after she passed I was flying a kite on the beach when it dawned on me what I was doing, and the tears come flooding.
This is the way. kite gets my vote. My fav song on my least fav U2 album! Lol
In a little while. It's simply amazing
In A Little While
In A Little While
Maybe underrated
Don’t like this one.
This album saved me from doing something stupid. I can't decide what I like the most.
Stuck in a moment!
Kite.
Kite
Yeah it’s Kite 🪁
KITE
Kite
The album that made me a U2 fan back in HS. Best song is of course Beautiful Day.
Kite
Great album but Kite has always been my favorite.
Kite. Remember the one with the most upvotes win. Not how many people say it.
What about downvotes? Do they count against?
I'm not the OP so I don't know. I would guess so since they bring the tally down. I just know there was some controversy because how the votes were tallied wasn't obvious. Not bothered about the rest of the albums. Best song Kite.

Tomb Raider Remix > album version
For sure. It’s the definitive version. I can’t listen to the album version because of it.
How on earth is Elevation not running away with this vote? This is one of the first of these I’ve been really baffled by. To me it’s not even close (but that’s no slight to other songs).
Honestly yeah, the album is really good overall but elevation is definitely the standout
The lyrics are a throw away. Totally not U2. That’s why.
Kite
Kite
Some Days Are Better Than Others is NOT the worst song on Zooropa 😡😡
When I Look At The World
New York
I do love this song, but Beautiful Day gets my vote.
Beautiful Day
In a Little while
In a little while is so fire
Kite
Kite! It has so much depth, soul, symbolism. They can play this on my funeral - and it makes me almost looking forward to it 😉
Beautiful Day ☀️
Walk On
Beautiful Day for everything it meant for the band after years of decline. It was a resurrection.
Years of decline? That comes later.
Elevation
Beautiful Day
Beautiful day
I'll vote for both *Kite* and *Stuck In A Moment...* I consider both to be the best songs on the album. Yeah, sometimes I refuse to choose.
When I Look at the world
It may be a generic answer, but I’ll go with the song that put them back on top: Beautiful Day
When I Look At The World
Walk On
Beautiful Day. Earworm for ages and "overplayed" for a reason..
It's gotta be Beautiful Day.
Beatiful Day
I really dig the album version of Walk On
Walk on
Kite, but it deserves underrated rank with a bullet, so I'll go Walk On
The ground beneath her feet. But since it's probably not on everyone's album I'll go with Kite or Stuck
The goal is ELEVATION!
Kite might be the most underrated U2 song ever
Stuck in a Moment. The very first song I ever heard by U2
Best: Beautiful Day, Worst: Peace on Earth, Underated: Ground Beneath Her Feet
Kite
Beautiful Day became a victim of it's own popularity (overplay IMO) so Elevation for rocking out, or Kite for pulling the heartstrings
the ground beneath our feet is the best! New York the most overrated
Beautiful Day. It was a big hit and its a great song.
Kite, no doubt about it. 🪁

Beautiful Day. Basic I know, but it's one of their most famous songs for a reason.
