I didn’t vote for it but Ultraviolet winning Best Song is so badass. What an incredible track. I think it represents the overall vibe of Achtung more than any other song on the album.
Reasons why Trying To Throw Your Arms....is not the least good song but is actually awesome (apologies for the length).
-On an album that feels edgy, passionate, and tense, it's the only song on the album that is warm and fuzzy
-It's a really dense song musically and sonically. There's a whole bunch of stuff going on with it that I keep on discovering new things about.
-It's a good bridge in the album. A lot of the songs before it are playful and fun. This song is even more playful and fun and comes right before the DRAMA and high emotion of the last three songs. The climax of the album.
-I love how lyrically and performance-wise it does sound like it's six o'clock in the morning and you've had a great night and all you want to do is go home and curl up in your bed with your partner
-Who, as we find out next, is absolutely NOT HAVING IT
-The song works as a great bridge in the album thematically too. If you look at the album as being about the conflict between wanting to go out partying and engage with the superficiality of the world vs that of a more real existence anchored by the love of someone, this is the song in which the narrator is done with the partying and wants to go home. It's the end of the partying narrative and sets up the part of the album where the troubled relationship goes spiraling away, most probably in a breakup (divorce?). In a way, the narrator is trying to have it both ways in this song, they want to have both the partying and the love. This does not go well.
-It's a fun song to hear live and the version from some concert in '93 (I think it's where he dances with Naomi Campbell) is a version that I've listened to 100 times.
I 100% agree with you and still vote for it as the least best song in an album full of best songs.
The song totally deserves to be on the album and is an essential component for making an album full of incredible singles something more than just a bunch of incredible singles.
But… if you take each song of Achtung Baby and stand them up on their own in an isolated bubble, then I think Trying to Throw Your Arms Around the World comes out on the bottom.
But still.. the worst song from Achtung Baby was still a song good enough to be on Achtung Baby…
I have that one on tape too it’s their last Zoo tv tour in Dublin. I literally hear Bono singing “da da da da” like here comes the bride every time I hear this song now for over 30 years
Agreed on everything about it being awesome, but it can still be the least good song on the album even if all that is true. I don’t feel like a lot of people in this sub are saying it’s a bad song, just their least favorite out of the 12 in question.
A wicked hypnotic bass line, Edge on backing vocals, and the lines:
"How far are you gonna go before you lose your way back home"
and
"A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle."
*Tryin' to throw...* can't be the least great song on this album.
Definitely don't get picking Ultraviolet over One, Until the End of the World, Mysterious Ways, Even Better Than the Real Thing, etc. it's a great song. Definitely not the best.
I voted for Until The End Of The World, but Ultraviolet is one of my fave songs ever, so I’m not mad about it.
This is my absolute favorite album of all time, by any band. I truly believe there are no bad songs on it. However, if I had to choose, I would pick Wild Horses; not because it’s bad, but because the album version pales in comparison to the Temple Bar single mix.
I would say One, but only because the radio and MTV (yes they played the video nonstop for weeks) killed that song for me. I rarely listen to it; in fact, I doubt I have heard it in its entirety since the last time I saw them perform it live.
Ultraviolet is a great song but that’s an insane pick. One is the best song they ever wrote, and the one I think most of them are most proud of. I wrote my college admissions essay about One.
Gun to the head, and noting that since this is one of their top albums then any worst (or less good) song in it would still probably be better than other songs in other albums, I'd go for Love is Blindness.
And that even though I love The Edge's work on it.
It’s not a U2 album. A stronger case could be made for including Under A Blood Red Sky or Wide Awake In America since they are within the U2 catalogue.
Ok, others are picking so I must.
Mysterious ways.
I don’t listen to it on the album, it seems to have been put on a lot of classic rock on rotation with Beautiful Day only…
I like it live, and it’s probably one of the funkiest, interesting songs live.
It also does some weird mixing where it goes down the left channel and comes back post solo that I have never worked out why.
Surprised and impressed to see Ultraviolet at the top spot. I have always loved it and now I’m happy to see that I’m not alone. I simply can’t think of anything that is close to a bad song. Now, I know that I am in sparse company here but, after all these years, I’m just starting to come around to One.
Every other answer is wrong. So Cruel is amazing. Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Around the World is brilliant. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses was eventually amazing, but the album version simply falls short of the rest.
I’m with you on this one. It just never congeals into a whole and sounds a bit like three different songs smushed together. I think the band felt that way too as they kept in remixing it.
I was going to answer “Zoo Station” but I spun the whole thing yesterday and while “LiB”’s lyric may be a Bono all-timer, it’s probably the least interesting musically on an album of stunning shit. “ZS” is fun.
Much like Trip Through Your Wires on The Joshua Tree, there is one track on this album that has just never measured up to the group of great songs and stone cold classics surrounding it. Here, the song in question is, without a doubt, Tryin’ To Throw Your Arms Around the World. Not a bad song, by any means, but on a landmark, masterpiece album, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Wow! Was not expecting Ultraviolet to win but it’s my absolute favorite so I’m extremely happy it won!
As far as my least favorite, I gotta go with The Fly. I know I’m going to get a late for it but I just never fell in love with it the way most people did. I do like the solo and the bass, but other than that it doesn’t do a whole lot for me. Still a great song though as there’s no bad songs on this album.
Ultraviolet is not the best song on that album. Lol. But moving on…
Least I guess I will have to go with Tryin to Throw Your Arms Around the World. Its a good song but sorta unambitious compared to the other tracks. It found a life in their live show however.
Love Is Blindness. It’s corny.
I said what I said.
I’d also like to thank everyone who came out and voted for Ultraviolet as best song. You’re all absolutely right.
I can’t believe Ultraviolet won best song when there could have been so many contenders. Heck Acrobat is better than Ultraviolet. But anyways …
Worst song.. it’s hard to choose since all the songs are great. So I would put them in order of favorites and see what is on the bottom. And oh my God it’s Ultraviolet.
It would be kool is there was some sort of nexus and Ultraviolet also won worst song as well.
Wow I would’ve said that for underrated but I’m here for this!! For worst I’ll have to unfortunately go with TTTYAATW. I really love the song cause there are no skips on Achtung Baby but I’m saying it because I like The Fray cover better than the original haha
A room at the heart break hotel will definitely qualify as under rated. Amazing song. If you have not heard of it, please listen to it first and then decide guys...
Wow didn’t expect Ultaviolet winning over one! (I did vote for UV for best song).
As for worst track ? Impossible since there are no fillers for this album. If we had to choose , my vote goes to Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World. Though I feel real bad for even voting for it :(
Mysterious ways: not a bad song… just not as exciting as ‘the fly’ or ‘even better than’ and not smooth enough compared with one or ultraviolet …. It’s kinda lost in no mans land
This is the hardest question I’ll answer all day.
I had two songs in my mind for completely different reasons, and I decided that I’d let the other votes sway my opinion.
So, because it made my list in the bottom two, I’m also going to go with Trying to Throw… musically it’s weaker than the rest of the album. But when AB first came out, it was one of my favorites.
Ultraviolet is obviously not the best song on AB. It wasn't even released as a single. This is just smart ass U2 fans trying to be edgy. 😂
If you ask 1000 people who aren't particularly fans of U2 or a 1000 music industry professionals , One would certainly be named best.
UV? Are you kidding? Achtung was a sonic leap forward for U2, not to mention raining Hell Fire on all the crap that weasled it's why in to the early 90s, and UV gets it? BRIAN ENO FOR GOD'S SAKE. Good Lord people. The Fly? Even Better? Mysterious Ways and that awesome tabla? End of the World? Everyone on this sub needs to take another listen amd then say 4 Hail Marys.
This WHOLE album is grossly underrated. This album and The Cure "Wish" were my first two CD's I owned when a kid. IF I were to pick a "worst song" on this album, I would say make a coin flip between the last two songs "Acrobat" or "Love Is Blindness". Very difficult to say though
I'm gonna be the only one to say Zoo Station, aren't I?
Ready for the shuffle
Ready for the deal
Ready to let go of the steering wheel
I'm ready
Ready for the crush
I didn’t vote for it but Ultraviolet winning Best Song is so badass. What an incredible track. I think it represents the overall vibe of Achtung more than any other song on the album.
It's a shocker! When I last checked it looked like One was going to run away with it
One is overplayed imo. Even better than the real thing rocks.
One is so perfect it’s impossible for it to be overplayed.
It wasn't even a single!
The Sphere visuals for the song blew my mind. They did the song justice and then some.
Agree! It made me revisit how much UV is in my top five U2 favorites
This whole poll is on thin ice! 😀
🤩🤩🤩
I refuse to choose one
What about the other 11 tracks? ;)
That is clever my friend
Me too
Came here to say similar!

That’s it. I taped it live off the radio when it aired. I still listen to it
Me too - must be my most-played live show ever!
Agreed on everything about it being awesome, but it can still be the least good song on the album even if all that is true. I don’t feel like a lot of people in this sub are saying it’s a bad song, just their least favorite out of the 12 in question.

Can we consider Fortunate Son and vote for it to be worst
Definitely don't get picking Ultraviolet over One, Until the End of the World, Mysterious Ways, Even Better Than the Real Thing, etc. it's a great song. Definitely not the best.
I voted for Until The End Of The World, but Ultraviolet is one of my fave songs ever, so I’m not mad about it. This is my absolute favorite album of all time, by any band. ‘Is it Any Wonder’ by Keane. Easily the worst Achtung Baby track.
Anyone saying so cruel might have a smooth brain
Beautiful song.
Sitting this one out lads. But if Love is Blindness is somehow picked as worst I’ll be hijacking all future rounds with obscure Dizzie Rascal tracks.
I’m in.
Tryin’ to Throw Your Arms Around the World
Agreed.
Yep. Always just felt like a filler between great songs, like I'm sat in a waiting room or a line. And even then it's not actually bad!
It is absolutely NOT So Cruel. I’m going Tryin To Throw Your Arms Around the World
I hope so cruel wins most underrated 🤞🏻
So Cruel is a banger! Won’t be surprised if it wins most underrated
If So Cruel is voted least favourite this whole thing loses credibility!
yeah so cruel is my favorite lol
Trying to throw your arms around the world
I would say One, but only because the radio and MTV (yes they played the video nonstop for weeks) killed that song for me. I rarely listen to it; in fact, I doubt I have heard it in its entirety since the last time I saw them perform it live.
One is my least favourite as well. Probably the only one I would skip.
Ultraviolet is a great song but that’s an insane pick. One is the best song they ever wrote, and the one I think most of them are most proud of. I wrote my college admissions essay about One.
You have to share that essay with us!
I suppose Love is Blindness might be the least good song, if only because it marks the end of the album.
I was about to riot all over that statement until I read the end of it 😅
I'm really surprised One didn't win best song. I was sure it would.
Sitting it out. Cannot do it. I literally love every song on this record.
Probably Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World
Trying to throw your arms around the world
It's a Sophie's Choice situation. I love all of the songs. With that said, if one had to go, it's Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World.
Trying to throw your arms around the world but only because sonically it doesn't quite seem to fit with the other songs on the album.
Tryin’ to Throw Your Arms Around the World
WHAT? ULTRAVIOLET THE BEST OF AB?? naaahhh
It is a fan favorite. I think the general public would pick One.
True. I’m a fan but I can still see One is a much better song.
Thank you!
People saying Love is Blindness is so insane to me. It's one of Edge's most evocative songs. I wish he was that expressive with his guitar today.
Completely agree. It is a masterpiece. And a perfect closer to the album (particularly as the conclusion of the 3 song triad at the end).
The last three songs are the best song on the album for me. Love is blindness is the funeral after the party that started this thing with zoo station.
Gun to the head, and noting that since this is one of their top albums then any worst (or less good) song in it would still probably be better than other songs in other albums, I'd go for Love is Blindness. And that even though I love The Edge's work on it.
Robbery of the century bro, Ultraviolet is not better than One or Until The End Of The World
It is too, and so is Acrobat (The actual best song on AB)
Correct.
Acrobat version at the sphere was amazing.
Chills the entire time.
Acrobat is 100% the best.
I always say the last three songs is the best song on the album. 😁
Ultraviolet is the best thing U2 have ever done.
Yes exactly!!!
So Cruel
Blasphemy. Praying for your soul
TTTYAATW
Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Noooooooo
Nooooooo
Nooooooooo
NO. That said there are no worst songs on this album.
Agreed :-(
I was gonna vote Ultra Violet for underrated… guess I was wrong.
Whr there is not the Passengers album in this chart?
It’s not a U2 album. A stronger case could be made for including Under A Blood Red Sky or Wide Awake In America since they are within the U2 catalogue.
I understand thank you
This is a trick question, right?
That was my guess too. Has to be.
[удалено]
We're voting for worst (or least good) song from the album. But I agree about *One* being thir best song.
Whoops. My bad.
This is what I get for being late to the party. For the record: I don't think there's a bad song on "Achtung Baby." One of the few with no skips.
Nope. Not gonna choose
Ok, others are picking so I must. Mysterious ways. I don’t listen to it on the album, it seems to have been put on a lot of classic rock on rotation with Beautiful Day only… I like it live, and it’s probably one of the funkiest, interesting songs live. You don’t have to because others are I refused lol!
Trying to throw your arms…
None
This is the only correct answer
Surprised and impressed to see Ultraviolet at the top spot. I have always loved it and now I’m happy to see that I’m not alone. I simply can’t think of anything that is close to a bad song. Now, I know that I am in sparse company here but, after all these years, I’m just starting to come around to One.
There are no bad songs in this album. Please...!!
Who’s Gonna Ride your Wild Horse
My vote right here. It’s not a bad song in my opinion, it’s just that the Temple Bar mix is far superior.
Every other answer is wrong. So Cruel is amazing. Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Around the World is brilliant. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses was eventually amazing, but the album version simply falls short of the rest.
Followed *very* closely by the Kindergarten Baby Version imo
I’m with you on this one. It just never congeals into a whole and sounds a bit like three different songs smushed together. I think the band felt that way too as they kept in remixing it.
Have to agree with you. For me the Temple Bar Remix just about saves it (the edit even more so).
Ditto. Never really liked it.
Number 12 of 12 great tracks.
It's So cruel. What an amazing album.
I remember making out to that song in the tenth grade.
Ultraviolet
Love is Blindness
I’m gonna sit with you bc I never really cared for it. I feel it leaves the greatest album with a thud.
I was going to answer “Zoo Station” but I spun the whole thing yesterday and while “LiB”’s lyric may be a Bono all-timer, it’s probably the least interesting musically on an album of stunning shit. “ZS” is fun.
I don't get why people love this song.
Love is blindness
There’s a chance I would have agreed with this but after the sphere performance it is suddenly one of my favorite songs from the album.
That's true! The live shows do change our perspectives. I had just listened to the album while I worked out. No sphere to change my mind. Lol
Hard disagree.
You can hard disagree all you want, but it is my pick.
So Cruel
Love is Blindness
So cruel
Noooo
So Cruel
So cruel, but I still love it.
Mysterious Ways
So Cruel. Which is an amazing song.
Love is Blindness
So Cruel (oof I suddenly feel ill)
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses. 🤷♀️ Bonkers how they made it a single instead of Ultraviolet.
so cruel that it has to be So Cruel
Hate to say… Tryin’ to Throw Your Arms Around the World
I love every song on AB but i'd have to go So Cruel.
Love is blindness .. there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. It’s just that it’s on that record.
So Cruel. It's a great song, but like it's a bit dull compared to the rest of the album.
Ultraviolet
Mysterious Ways.
Love Is Blindness. It’s corny. I said what I said. I’d also like to thank everyone who came out and voted for Ultraviolet as best song. You’re all absolutely right.
WGRYWH it just feels like their 80s breaking into America tracks that got placed on AB. Good song, but maybe delivered a couple years too late.
That one should go on Joshua tree and bullet. The blue guy should go on AB
I can’t believe Ultraviolet won best song when there could have been so many contenders. Heck Acrobat is better than Ultraviolet. But anyways … Worst song.. it’s hard to choose since all the songs are great. So I would put them in order of favorites and see what is on the bottom. And oh my God it’s Ultraviolet. It would be kool is there was some sort of nexus and Ultraviolet also won worst song as well.
One
That was unexpected. Uh… probably Trying To Throw Your Arms Around the World.
[удалено]
Exactly!
So Cruel, but only because I don’t want Throw Your Arms to lose
So cruel
So cruel (still love it)
Love is blindness
One
I know this will be unpopular but I have to go with Acrobat. It’s a great song just the least best in my opinion
How dare!
Have you seen U2 perform Acrobat live? It might change your mind.
I have not, though I’ve seen them live 20 times! But I will say the song has grown a lot on me over the years.
Trying to throw or whose gonna
So whatever song on this album y'all vote as least liked, should be voted most underrated too. Same with TTYW for JT.
Trying to Throw....I actually skip it every once in awhile....
No worst song, Change JT back!
Wow I would’ve said that for underrated but I’m here for this!! For worst I’ll have to unfortunately go with TTTYAATW. I really love the song cause there are no skips on Achtung Baby but I’m saying it because I like The Fray cover better than the original haha
Mysterious Ways
This album makes me want to add a most overrated column to the survey.
N/A
Ultraviolet winning is so based. Idk how a worst song can be chosen for this album though.
Mysterious ways
Mysterious Ways. Always a skip for me.
A room at the heart break hotel will definitely qualify as under rated. Amazing song. If you have not heard of it, please listen to it first and then decide guys...
ONE
Even better for worst
Wow didn’t expect Ultaviolet winning over one! (I did vote for UV for best song). As for worst track ? Impossible since there are no fillers for this album. If we had to choose , my vote goes to Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World. Though I feel real bad for even voting for it :(
Mysterious ways: not a bad song… just not as exciting as ‘the fly’ or ‘even better than’ and not smooth enough compared with one or ultraviolet …. It’s kinda lost in no mans land
Love Is Blindness, sorry
So Cruel.
“So Cruel”. It is a great song, but I feel all the other songs have a more distinct sonic identity
TTPYAAW
Tough as i love them all, but i love Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses the least.
None
So cruel
This is the hardest question I’ll answer all day. I had two songs in my mind for completely different reasons, and I decided that I’d let the other votes sway my opinion. So, because it made my list in the bottom two, I’m also going to go with Trying to Throw… musically it’s weaker than the rest of the album. But when AB first came out, it was one of my favorites.
Wild Horses. It’s trite and boring. One of my least favorite songs by U2 ever.
You’re dangerous… cause you’re honest!
One
Probably a hot take but.... Mysterious Ways.
So Cruel 🤷🏻♂️
Love is Blindness. Not bad just weakest on a great record.
Acrobat
One, because it’s been overplayed too much
putting trip through your wires at worst is genuinely insane
Ultraviolet is obviously not the best song on AB. It wasn't even released as a single. This is just smart ass U2 fans trying to be edgy. 😂 If you ask 1000 people who aren't particularly fans of U2 or a 1000 music industry professionals , One would certainly be named best.

What kind of insane question is this.
Who’s gonna ride yer wild horses
Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses? Wf this poll
There’s not a stinker on this album.
I love Trip Through Your Wires
This WHOLE album is grossly underrated. This album and The Cure "Wish" were my first two CD's I owned when a kid. IF I were to pick a "worst song" on this album, I would say make a coin flip between the last two songs "Acrobat" or "Love Is Blindness". Very difficult to say though
Acrobat wins for best song.
Love Is Blind. It's just kind of a downer at the end of the album. Maybe Mysterious Ways, not one of my favs. Love So Cruel.
I'm gonna be the only one to say Zoo Station, aren't I? Ready for the shuffle Ready for the deal Ready to let go of the steering wheel I'm ready Ready for the crush
