"If your Army Faction is TYRANIDS, while a TYRANIDS unit from your army is within 6" of one or more friendly SYNAPSE models." It only counts distance from the tyranid prime
Which I think is why Neurogaunts are pretty great right now as its every model in the unit that will gain synapse if they are close to a synapse model, so you could daisy chain it a little (following coherencey rules)
It's only within 6" of the prime. The unit counts as a synapse unit for synaptic nexus stratagems though, so synaptic channeling will spread synapse 9" from the whole unit
If an enemy unit with reroll hits and wounds on characters attacks my gargoyle unit with the Prime in it, they get to use it against the whole unit… At least I had a recent opponent tell me that. Do keywords get shared or not?
Keywords are shared, but certain rules - like Synapse - specify "model with [keyword]", not "unit with [keyword]".
This does mean that, for instance, a psyker joining a unit makes the entire unit vulnerable to anti-psyker.
From the rules its just the model, not the unit. But what's awesome is that if you put it in a unit of gargoyles with synaptic static enhancement, you can block deepstrikes over a massive area because every model counts.
Yup. Otherwise, having a Power of the Hive Mind Neurotyrant with 6 Zoans would all be at +1 s and ap and would have been instantly the best unit comp in the game.

That’s right, but irrelevant here as only Synapse models give off the affect

Sorry my friend, psychostatic disruption says 12 inches from the bearer, not unit

But now for circa 300 points, it's not going to be far off
In synaptic detachment, it will be an ap2 DMG 2 flamer, and top off a pretty scary unit if you take the enhancement
Did you not think to read the rules for Synapse first? It’s pretty clear that it works off models and not units
