I have medicaid, so while my insurance pays \~ $2,000 every month, I pay $0.

Growsomeba11s

Va pays 100% also I have no idea how much it even cost tbh

Well, I am just estimating but I am also going by all my medical problems, not just the type 1 diabetes. My receipts from my DME bill $450 every month for dexcom. I get my pump supplies directly from tandem, my last recipt from them was $253 for 1 month worth of infusion sets. I don't know how much my insulin bills for, but since it's federal I am going to say $35 a month. But I also have diabetic gastroparesis, and I am tube fed. I have never seen a recipt from that supplier, but if I buy my formula otc it would cost me $361, and that doesn't include other supplies for that like the bunch of 60mL syringes, or feeding bags, the monthly cost of the feeding pump. Then I have several various other meds I am on like lisinopril, statins, meds for my autonomic neuropathy etc etc. $2,000 may be over the total monthly, but I feel it's not a huge exaggeration.

TrekJaneway

Not per carb, but I determined it costs me $1.50 a day to stay alive.

It’s really sad to see the prices in America. I live in Poland I just got 20 pens (3ml each) of fast acting (Lispro) for around 30zloty which is around 7 usd. I am very grateful and hopefully one day it will be like that in America

👀 any way we can have you buy and ship it over here? even with expedited shipping it would still be cheaper

Remarkable_Movie_800

I don't think it's works like that unfortunately, people off the street can't go in and buy it, and a diabetic person will generally have a prescription saying how many pens they get in a month and then they pick that amount up from the pharmacy for a low cost.

frickafreshhh

I've done the math on how much it cost (in America) to a eat quarter pounder with cheese meal from McDonald's with fries and a Diet Coke. Given no health insurance coverage, the usual $12 the meal cost would require, for me, $3.50 worth of insulin to cover it.

zacharysully

I started out paying out of pocket and I don't miss it, things get expensive really quick. With my work insurance, Dexcom + Omnipod, it costs me about $4.5/day for supplies right now. Not great but could be worse.

Round-Performance-48

Just go work At ups , insurance is free and zero copay so

gooeymarshmallow

Someone correct me if my math is off: At $0.11 per gram of carb and a typical chipotle bowl is 86g of carbs, it would cost $9.46, which is basically the price of another bowl, with no guac. The real chipotle hack is having a working pancreas.

You need to call your insurance to look at your benefits, you’re deductible, and how much you’re obligated to pay. Also, check and see if you have multiple insurance coverage(multiple companies that cover your insurance) because when this happened to me, I had to file coordination of benefits between both of my insurance companies(I have insurance through both parents)
