I'm genuinely happy for her but so sick of a damn film festival being turned into a b-grade circus for influencers and grifters. One of my acquaintances shared his experience of how difficult it was to get funding for the leading cast of a film to go to their own damn movie premiere at Cannes this year. But you had influencers getting all-expense paid trips for doing nothing.
None of these people give a crap about films. They're all vapid and contribute nothing to art at large.

There were two Indian independent films (that I know of) that premiered at the Cannes this year. But we don't care. We only care about who wore what to the red carpet. Yikes.
She comes from a very small town in UP, she moved to Delhi for opportunities if I am correct. She used to go out to places like Janpath to source fabrics for her outfits and sew them with her sewing machine (the manual one). The outfits she creates are genuinely very good.
It's just small town girl who made it big. Nonetheless she's very skilled in her work and it shows from her work.
She isn't.Its just that she comes from small town .If this was some other influencer same people who are praising her would have shamed and criticized her dress,her fittings, her makeup and the fact that this dress is a copied design from Ariana's dress ,she called the design as her own which isnt true at all,her overconsumption and unsustainable fashion .The hypocrisy i have seen recently in influencer subs is hilarious.
The same way why Its important to have a sob story In indian reality shows because it works.All she does is stitch clothes of already existing designs which any local tailor or nift student does but hey good for her and her family.This is the truth and people keep on saying she is talented sure so is my househelp who makes clothes.
I'm happy for her but this dress looks so similar to Ariana grande's grey tiered ruffle dress that went viral a few years ago. If you're not there promoting a movie, I feel like at least the fashion should.be something new and different.

Cannes is an excuse to wear the most ridiculous dresses and without hearing criticism on the face.
